Barracuda was one of my favorite meals during my time in New Orleans. It embodies a relaxed outdoor atmosphere that most other restaurant in Algier's point also have, making it perfect for a casual lunch or dinner after exploring the neighborhood. I ordered the Shrimp Macha tacos, and they were excellent. The shrimp were cooked well, and the macha sauce added a great balance of smoky heat and flavor without overpowering the tacos. Everything tasted fresh, and each taco felt thoughtfully put together. Overall, Barracuda is a spot I'd happily recommend. Between the quality of the food, the laid-back atmosphere, and the fair value, it's an easy place to come back to the next time I'm in New Orleans. read more

This place was the perfect non table service dinner spot! Took the ferry over for a quick trip. About a 7-10 minute walk. Easy to get there. Food was incredible! Love finding authentic and fresh tacos! And easy to take leftovers home too. They had bathrooms that were air conditioned so that was refreshing on a hot July summer evening. The staff were very friendly. Only outside eating. It is just a window stand to order and then get your food. But they had misting fans going and a cold water jug. I would recommend this spot to anyone traveling to New Orleans. read more

Everything about this place is outstanding, I have to say. The food is inexpensive, high quality, and delicious. The staff is super helpful and friendly, and they really try to make sure you have everything you need. Mind you, the nature of this Cafe means that one you're served you won't be seeing them again, but you won't need to. If you're looking for a unique experience in terms of location, it's definitely got that I'm spades. There is no indoor dining, instead you get to sit outdoors under the sun, an awning, or at a picnic table under an umbrella. During the milder times of year, this makes it a wonderful place to meet with friends, family, or business partners. Whether you're a local or traveling, I can't recommend this place enough. read more

Probably my favorite spot in NOLA to get tacos from. At the price point and drink options, I never get tired of this spot. My go tos are the Fish, Steak and Mushroom tacos. I always forget pictures because I literally swallow these tacos whole. Love this place, keep it up! read more

Solid tacos, chips and dips! Great friendly service. Nice outdoor dining. If you're on Algiers point and need a fuel stop this is the place.

This is a great place for tacos! Extremely tasty and a cool outdoor sitting area. Will definitely return when back in NOLA!

One of my favorite places in the city to grab tacos and a margarita! The fish tacos are my favorite. I stopped by on my lunch break and discovered they have a lunch special which is $10 for two tacos with a side of rice and beans. The rice and beans were seasoned well and a great portion size. The service was fast and the food is always hot and fresh. There is only outdoor seating and although it was a hot day the shaded area provided the perfect coolness. A great lunch getaway! read more

In cozy Algiers, this picture perfect place stands out visually. It's downright lovely and inviting. I got here at sunrise just in time for opening and a delicious iced coffee while the team was making my egg & bean and egg & mushroom tacos. The vibe was relaxed and the folks here are gracious. I was in no hurry because it's a beautiful morning in New Orleans and the fog lifted while the sun rose and cheered up the streets. Algiers is one of those neighborhoods where you find yourself saying, hmm, I could live here. The Barracuda Taco Stand is the kind of place that could seal the deal. read more

My son and I were recommended to this establishment by the bartender at the Crown & Anchor for the best tacos and bowls around. You order food at a window, pay (card only), take your number, and they will bring the food out when it's done. You pick up your alcoholic drinks from a different window. The male cashier was short and unfriendly. The female server who brought the food out was pleasant. We enjoyed the nachos and queso. The mole chicken taco, beef tacos, and beef bowl were excellent. Our margaritas were basic but strong and competitively priced for the size. The business is housed in an old Gulf gas station. Picnic and low-top outdoor seating. Fans and warmers for the changing weather. Flush toilets and restrooms are available. Daily specials. Located in a beautiful, quiet neighborhood with lovely shotgun houses. read more

I've been to New Orleans over 20 times and I've never been to Algiers Point. A client of mine who is an actress and producer of independent films recently moved to Algiers point. I heard it was very interesting place that had its early roots in New Orleans history so I decided to take the ferry for $.80 that goes across the Mississippi from Canal Street to Algiers Point in about 10 minutes. Algiers Point, established in 1719, is New Orleans' second-oldest neighborhood, located across the Mississippi River from the French Quarter. On the way to meet her I saw historical homes, churches, artistic doors, porches, homes of many variety with early colonial, French, art, and 200-400 year old trees that had my head and camera spinning. We decided to meet at Barracuda, a window Mexican joint with a big patio that used to be a gas station it appears. The chicken tacos were very fresh with an unusual but tasty take on guacamole. Very good Horchata. Very tasty, reasonably priced and hit the spot as the one cuisine I miss when I travel away from the other LA, Los Angeles, is Mexican food. While Mexican food is diverse, regional and delicious, Barracuda serves up the standard Mexican that most people know but in an interesting and satisfying way. read more

Barracuda is the Taco Tuesday King! I have an affinity for this location in particular due to my roots in the neighborhood. I grew up riding my bike all around the block and playing at the park across the street. I enjoy sitting at Barracuda with my tacos and seeing little ones enjoy the neighborhood the same way I did. The food is always bomb. This time I had the fish tacos and and a pork taco with the razzle dazzle added on. It was delish and lot more filling than I was expecting. In my mind I also wanted a fish bowl but I'm glad I didn't over do it. The two tacos with a side of beans was just enough. My group of 7 sat out there for quite a while and it was rather busy from 6pm- 7:30 on Taco Tuesday. It's advised to get there earlier if possible to beat the crowd. read more

Much like the Barracuda on Tchopitoulas, you'll find the greatest hits here at the Taco Stand. Same protocol - you walk up and order, then take your number and find a place to sit. The downside? This one is so very tiny in regards to a seating area (it has to be given the Point), but it is nice if you're just picking up to go elsewhere. Best bet - order a "pitcher" and some tacos/queso to go and have a picnic elsewhere in the Point. The food will be delicious, and you'll have more space (and more shade) to spread out in! read more

Third time in a week... safe to say I might be setting a personal record here, but Barracuda in Algiers Point just keeps pulling me back in. No better way to wrap up a Sunday evening than tacos after a run on the levee by the Mississippi. This round, we went with fish tacos, chicken tacos, and my all-time favorite -- the chicken bowl. The flavors? Incredible. Every bite hits perfectly balanced -- fresh, savory, and bold. And that green salsa? A fiery kick of spiciness that elevates everything it touches. Honestly, it's addictive. Barracuda is a local gem through and through -- simple, delicious, and always satisfying. Bon appétit read more

Walk down 4 blocks on Pelican Avenue from the Algiers Point Ferry. At the Verret Street intersection, you will see what looks like an old Gulf gas station turned into a taco stand on the left. It's all outdoor sitting. A bunch of wooden benches around picnic tables on sand gravel. There are heat lamps for warmth on chilly evenings and red white umbrellas for shade on sunny afternoons. No frills, informal ambience. Place orders through a small side window on the right side of the building. Get a number and grab a table. Service is efficient and the food brought to your table with a wad of napkins. Sip a margarita and relax. Neighborhood location across from Confetti Park where the kids can play before or after a meal. The beef taco was slightly grilled and had a smoky texture to the chunks. The chicken taco was meaty, tasty and slightly charred. The fish taco featured bits of pomegranate to neutralize the fishiness. Overall ranking would be beef, chicken than fish in that order. All the tacos came with only one flour tortilla each. read more

Okay yall imma be so honest. The first 2-3 times I came to barracuda I didn't get the hype. But I gave it another shot, and let me tell u it left me so satisfied, and it was so good! I got the fish bowl and the dip trio. Me and my friend split both and we were FULL TO THE BRIM. The crispy fish is the way to go and it tastes so fresh. The bowl was also a huge portion for what its cost was! read more

I really like the chill outdoor environment. Super cute and the tacos are yummy! Next time I want to try crispy fish taco. That's what everybody keeps talking about, but I didn't try that this time. Service was nothing outstanding, but it wasn't bad. Plus the food didn't take long to come out. I will say that drinks are not that strong, butttt they are tasty! I got the frozen mango drink. (I forgot exactly what it's called.) I'd come back here! read more

Barracuda's food quality is well above all other Mexican restaurants in New Orleans. All of the tacos are fantastic, and I am a fan of the bowls. The beans, the guacamole, the fish and meats, the proper queso and pickled onions are all distinct and delicious. The format is an order-at-entrance and deliver-to-table method, and the overall experience is very pleasant. They are swift and the backyard visibly reminds me of a Costa Rican open air restaurant. The margaritas are very tasty. Gotta love the very ample, and much of it covered, outdoor seating. read more

This was our biggest culinary disappointment on our trip to New Orleans and was the one I was most excited for being from Texas looking forward to bright, bold, Latin flavors. The margarita amazing! Ambience amazing! Presentation amazing! The tacos looked like they were going to be a burst of flavor and inventive but they tasted like nothing. The fish taco literally had no flavor. The steak taco was so hard we couldn't even eat the meat. Chicken taco was the best and the pork taco was nothing but a boat of grease. I understand they used to have good tacos and seem to be riding on the coattails of that accolade, but it's time to step up the game because those tacos were really pathetic and not at all good. I have respect for the industry and work in it myself, so it begs to question: do the employees not eat what they serve? How have flavorless tacos made it past quality check? We overheard other couples asking the same and being disappointed in the food. Step it up Barracuda. read more

Easy five stars here! Upon walking up for my first visit and first order here, Kairi greeted me with her big smile and personality! She went through the entire menu, shared with me what the favorites were. I ordered what was recommended (crispy catfish taco and beef taco). Both were very good! The beef option served here is chunks of sirloin steak. The catfish was made to order and oh so good (look at the pomegranates on top). For a side, I ordered corn in a cup which is basically elote. Seating is all outdoors with spray fans strategically placed. Restrooms are available. Complimentary iced water is self serve. A truly must visit when in this area of New Orleans, La. The Good: Great atmosphere. Good service. And the best fish tacos I've ever had by far. I've been to several locations and they are all pretty much the same in terms of ambiance, service, and quality of food. Highly recommend visiting any location. The Bad: The fish tacos are absolutely amazing, but there hasn't been another taco I've tried there that I would recommend someone go out of their way to try. Everything else I've had has been "Ok". The elote is good. Many of the other tacos are fine. But nothing else besides the fish tacos is exceptional or unique. Just quality ingredients in a charming setting. The Ugly: Can not recommend their breakfast tacos. They are comically small and under filled. Like 2 small bites of taco for $3. And the breakfast mushroom taco was yellow. I'm assuming it had turmeric in it. But it stained my chin yellow all morning, much to my wife's amusement. TLDR: Amazing fish tacos. Great ambiance. Good service. Highly recommend a visit for a casual lunch or dinner, intimate or with friends. read more

I almost feel conflicted writing this review. This is one of my favorite little spots in Algiers Point, and I almost don't wanna share. I'm sure everyone knows already and I'm just not wanting anybody else to find out about my taco spot! I like minding my business and getting my eat on at this cute little gem in the point, it has everything to add to your zen. Which includes great table side service, calming atmosphere, peaceful outdoor seating rain or shine + tacos. I mean, where can you go wrong? The tacos I really can't judge because I'm a natural taco girl. That makes me bias, however, they can be off sometimes and depending on who the cook is determines the taco outcome, which is never bad, but if you get there for that morning crew, you will never be disappointed & all the flavors will hit all the time. read more

Barracuda never disappoints! The chips, dips, all the tacos and burritos bowls are to die for. I'm not big on the pre-mixed margaritas just because it's sugar over load. My 1st time here, definitely won't be my last. The food, the staff, the atmosphere was just what I needed for a Friday lunch with Cameron. 2 tacos each, guac, queso and a Mexican coke- all delicious. I love this little taco haven! On a recent visit to the area, I stopped in with a couple of colleagues. Parking was easy to find and we found a table with no problem. We walked up to the counter where we ordered our food. While the menu isn't huge, it definitely has a nice variety. Because it was the workday I couldn't try their margs but I did get a hibiscus tea that was delicious. For my entree I went with the chicken bowl. Imagine the size of a chipotle bowl but packed with much more flavor! It was very filling and didn't break the bank. I cannot wait to come back! read more

Damn. This is the kind of place I wish I had in my neighborhood! I'm so glad we wandered over to this part of town and got to experience it! First and foremost -- the tacos were great! Classic options + some more adventurous ones, and all of them were fantastic. (My favorite was the fish taco! So delish!) Good options for vegetarians and also kids. Great drinks as well. Staff were warm and friendly and made me feel welcome even though I was just a one-time tourist. (Shout out to KK -- I hope she checks out Ms. Marvel!) Accessibility: The bathrooms are two single-stall options, wheelchair accessible, all-gender, with changing tables in each one. THIS IS HOW YOU DO IT! Parenting: There is a fenced-in little playground/tot lot across the street. So you could absolutely order a bunch of food, walk across the street, and peacefully have a meal while your kids play safely nearby. For parents of young kids, it doesn't get much better than that! One final thing: We had a local as our Lyft driver the next day and were talking about where we'd been, and he 100% validated it as a top spot. So there you go -- tourists and locals agree! read more

Love Barracuda, definitely one of my favorite taco spots in the city. Love that they have both an uptown and Westbank location.

I'm a fan of high quality fish tacos, and Barracuda nailed it. We got the taco plus chips/queso/chorizo, and a margarita. Loved it. The location was great, too - in a quiet neighborhood just a short (and cheap!) ferry ride from the CBD. I wish we could come back weekly. read more

I bara-could-ah eat here every day. The crispy fish tacos were swimmingly delightful, the beef was a-mooooo-zing, the chicken one made me cluck for joy, the mushroom taco didn't leave mush-room for fault, and the house made tortillas made me do a little dancey dance. Stopped by Barracuda and really enjoyed my visit. I tried the chicken taco and the quesadilla -- the taco was good, but the quesadilla was the standout. I also had an ice-cold bottled Coke, which unfortunately spilled. Even though this is a self-service spot, a little help from staff in that moment would have gone a long way.
