I just miss these bagels and the bagel sandwiches of New Jersey so very much. They are fluffy, huge, and really define the Jersey area. I have tried, very unsuccessfully, to find a bagel that meets these standards (and price tag) in Ohio. Not to mention, pork roll is a foreign concept out here and bologna is the closest comparison. No one makes a sandwich like barons: a crispy fried egg, gooey cheese, and a mound of pork roll on a chewy egg everything...that's the dream! Baron's Bagels is hands down my favorite bagel shop. I recently moved to Brick 6 months ago and I am SO happy Baron's exists (even though I don't need to be eating too many bagels). Their bagels are always fresh and delicious, they always have flagels which I love, and the cream cheese is just PILED on so high. They have to be known for their large amount of cream cheese. My boyfriend always scraps some off, so beware if you don't like a heavy amount - just give them a heads up. The variety of cream cheese flavors is awesome and they are always trying new variations. I have gotten bagels from here a couple times and they always taste great. However, they never listen to toasting the bagel which I can ignore but it's frustrating every time. Today I ordered a bagel with cream cheese and it was completely inedible! The bagel was a poppy one and had a sweet taste to it which it shouldn't taste sweet and the cream cheese was completely sour! I am completely disappointed and disgusted! I am at the point where I do not even have to say my order anymore. When I walk in, he knows what I want. The bagels are huge and always fresh. The cream cheese comes in so many different varieties and is always fresh too! Their bagel sandwiches are amazing. They only accept cash, so be sure to have some on you. There is no place to sit inside, so everything is to go. There is plenty of parking, but if you go there at 10am on a weekend, you may end of parking by IHOP and walking. They do have call ahead orders, which is a big plus on the busy weekends. The sandwiches are literally the size of your face. I know for myself, I have a hard time fitting the whole bite in my mouth. My usual order is an Egg Bagel with Scallion Cream Cheese and it is heavenly. Of course, I've also had the bagel sandwiches: PEC, BEC, PBEC, etc. Some people think it is a little pricey, but the amount of meat and filling you get is well worth it, and honestly if the food is good I'll pay whatever. The variety of bagels is amazing. Egg, Egg Everything, Plain, Spinach, Jalapeno, Rye, Marble Rye, French Toast, etc. One of my discoveries was the French Toast Bagel with Nutella Cream Cheese, so so so good! They also have so many types of cream cheese: Plain, Vegetable, Lox, Bacon and Cheddar, Nutella, Tofu Vegetable, Blueberry, etc. They also have coffee, hot chocolate, juices, milks, and other light morning snacks (like cake, parfait, fruit, etc.) There is no better place to get a bagel. They have gluten free bagels! They arent made in house but hit the spot when you are in the mood for a bagel. The gluten free bagel is plain so it goes well with any of the spreads or sandwiches. They can also heat up the bagel unlike other places which dont for cross contamination. First time I went I got a sausage, egg and cheese - delish and the sweetness of the breakfast sausage makes the gluten free bagel a little sweet as well. Then I got the lox and cream cheese, very generous helping of the spread. Prices are as expected. I was speaking with one of the guys who worked there, I didn't catch his name but he seemed like the manager or owner. His daughter has a gluten allergy. Knowing the staff has some personal connection to an allergy/diet restriction always makes me feel more confident that they try to be mindful of the allergy needs. They are also observant of the COVID guidelines, everyone wears a mask CORRECTLY and if they have too many people inside, they politely ask people to wait outside (they will come out and call your name when your order is ready) read more
