If you're on an upstate getaway and in need of solid bar food, this place hits the spot. Portions are on point, pickup process is seamless, and the food is flavorful. I've never seen fruit flies this size before! In droves literally taking turns bombarding our beers at the bar. The bartender definitely saw us swatting them repeatedly with zero interest in rectifying the situation. God only knows what the kitchen flies look like... insert disgust The smoked wings weren't bad but over smoked & pretty dry. They do offer chilled glasses for those beer drinkers. Sadly we won't return. Hopefully the owners notice this review & the major fruit fly problem. read more

I will never visit this place again. Upon entering the hostess said the wait for a table was 15 minutes even though there were open booths ready. Then she told my party to wait outside and come back while there was an open seats in the waiting area. So we left and went somewhere else. Wonderful service food was really delicious... it's kinda off the beaten track, but easy enough to get to! Make the effort! Dinners ranged from Strip Steak Meals to 1 yes only 1 child's meal of grilled cheese sandwich / which was pretty dang good ( 4 yr old) I had Penne pasta with vodka sauce with Shrimp Pasta was cooked perfectly and vodka sauce light an flavorful! We stopped here on our way to the getaway house. Lynne, our server was amazing. She recommended a few dishes, including the Buffalo chicken quesadilla. We had the calamari and chicken tenders as well. All the dipping sauces were so good ESPECIALLY their blue cheese. They kept everything clean and sanitized. This cute little local favorite is nothing fancy, but I do love their fried chicken (and I think nothing fancy is the point). I dine in at the restaurant or (more often) order takeout for parties and large gatherings. It's an especially kid friendly place when you have out-of-town guests with children. Yikes. How was it? We did take out, but ate outside. I picked up the order as soon as it was out ready for us. However, it was not as hot as I'd expect and everything was soggy. I suspect some food was done sooner and sat in the boxes/bag for much longer? Burgers were both way overcooked. We asked for medium-rare, they were well done or more. Mine was dry. Both burgers were missing condiments we asked for. My Barnwood Burger had one small piece of bacon. Maybe it is due to COVID? I just don't see how those mistakes are COVID related. Missing items? Overcooked food? ANd the health inspection?! I thought about messaging the management directly, but upon more thought a review seems best. We needed a dinner break coming down the NYS Thruway. We found the Barnwood. They had a nice beer and cider list including one of my favorite, Awestruck. We started with the Greek salad which was refreshing. I had the ribs that were fall off the bone tender with a really tasty sauce. My husband got the fried chicken, tender, tasty and not greasy. I left a review five years ago and gave it a great review however they must've changed owners because we've been there recently two or three times and each time we have had a problem tonight, (a not so busy Thursday evening) the issue was that the fried chicken came out cold dry and the skin was soggy. The chicken came out within 5 minutes of ordering it had obviously been cooked earlier and left in a keep warm oven for quite some time in order for the breast to dry out as much as it did. I mentioned the cold chicken to the waitress and nothing was done to correct it nor do I think she even told the kitchen. At a minimum an apology was warranted. I guess we will not really be going back unless things change significantly in the kitchen if I want cold chicken I can go in my refrigerator and eat leftovers. read more

I went for a weekend getaway to Leeds, NY(which is considered upstate for me, living in Westchester). We arrived here with no reservations and were seated quickly. The restaurant was pretty empty, but we did go in for an early dinner (around 5pm). We browsed the menu and I decided on wings and sweet potato fries, my husband wanted clam chowder with pasta, which came with a salad. We waited about 45 minutes for our dinner, I thought it was extremely long for what we had ordered. By that time, the restaurant got really busy, but I feel that the food should've taken a max of 20-30 minutes. My husband's plate was very dry, he said the chowder was ok, the pasta had no flavor. My wings were nothing out of the ordinary and the fries were fries. The service was great, the waitress, Jackie, was so kind and helpful. We rated this according to the food. The waitress deserves a 10/10 rating. read more

Onion rings, pepperoni and onion pizza, corn nuggets, buffalo and garlic parmesan wings, and fried chicken with fries, greek Salad and a Caesar salad. Their LARGE SIDES come in the containers that most restraunts use for condiments such as ketchup. This is refuckingdiculis. We decided to try their pizza for takeout tonight. IMHO, The only good pie is one with a thin, crispy crust and not too greasy. I like to judge a plain cheese pizza to what I grew up eating in pizzerias in Brooklyn and Long Island. Barnwood, your pizza is beyond spot on!! The flavor of your pizza is amazing. The thin, crispy crust was lightly browned, not burnt. This pizza was so tasty!! If anybody wants to eat a real NY style pizza, come to Barnwood! Btw, the cashier that cashed me out, was very friendly and helpful also. I had a few questions for her about their other food and allergens. She got me answers to my questions right away. We have visited this few times now (from the original to now renovated) over the years. The great part is that they never disappointed with food. On the other hand the decor has improved with a nice bar area and two separate dining areas. Love the improvements. Pizza, ribs, fish and chips have been out to go but everything is delicious. I'll just make this review easy. Employees were good. Our waitress was great. ALL food was good at minimum but some items leaning towards great. Pricing is fantastic. The quality of service, food, and drinks considering pricing made us feel we are getting swindled at most restaurants at home. I would return...maybe I'll even go back tonight.
