Tasty muffins but no bagels and over priced. Not to mention they don't give out cup waters and the pitcher they use is always empty. I know because I've been here for four hours. Also extremely uncomfortable chairs. All they have to offer us is two small booths that were taken all day and hard chairs with small tables. Wouldn't ever come here again not to mention $1 for a bannnas seriously? $2.65 for a muffin and $3.65 for a small chai tea? LOL

This cafe is located inside the Barnes and Noble Book store and it featured Starbucks' coffee products, some of their pastries, and desserts from the Cheese Cake Factory. The also make sandwiches and gourmet food products such as chocolate covered nuts and popcorn. I stopped in after browsing the store a bit for some books I was interested in and ordered a grande cafe latte and walnut maple scone (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/barnes-and-noble-cafe-santee?select=jj4U5ZIXI9KjEDDVP8b_oA#K3lhhnlGrPKkbOhl-NDVfg). The latte was well made, at a typical Starbucks quality, with it strong yet smooth flavor. The maple walnut scone was great and had a nice glossy crusty exterior (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/barnes-and-noble-cafe-santee?select=jj4U5ZIXI9KjEDDVP8b_oA#z2MdFTg9AgYdjdpOcVX2RA). Its maple flavor was on point and the walnuts tasted fresh and were crunchy. The scone inside was moist for the most part, but the ends easily crumbled away (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/barnes-and-noble-cafe-santee?select=jj4U5ZIXI9KjEDDVP8b_oA#0fQnbcNyfwVMRqZBgMZbIw). Although the cheese cake slices were beckoning me to indulge, I resisted this time around (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/barnes-and-noble-cafe-santee?select=jj4U5ZIXI9KjEDDVP8b_oA#--MwKe2nV47xSjio42jphQ). Service was upbeat, although we had a little trouble getting a receipt out if the register, the manager stepped in and acquired one from the back office. The two individuals who were running the cafe were very friendly and expedient. The only thing I would suggest would be to provide sturdier chairs inside.

It's been a long time since I've felt froggy (lol) standing in line for ice cream. Oh you know what, Salt and Straw hits too BUT Handel's has that "mmmm-hmmm" factor. Instead of offering a portion-appropriate size for a child, the server just said no they don't do that. She couldn't offer a side bowl, or offer just a cone, nothing. When I asked to speak to the manager, she said there was actually an option for 4 scoops in a container. But no cone. Why is the magic of each kid getting just a small scoop of what they want in a cone list on Handels? What business can't supply child sized portions? Especially an ice cream location. They missed out on each of us purchasing our own cone and ice cream. Instead we purchased only one cone and had to share a dripping mess among the 4 of us. I'll skip Handels next time I want ice cream

I'm pretty sure I've eaten their sweets - I just don't remember the old shop's name. Habibi Sweets, on the other hand, with their assortment of baklavas and Turkish Delights gave me a teasing taste of one of their more popular confections. My order included two rolled green-colored baklavas, One Almond dough pastry brimming with nuts and seeds, a coconut.TD, and for the pièce de résistance, this dark red Rose Petal Turkish Delight that was to die for! I remember my foray into chewy Turkish delights 25 years ago and this one was beyond delightful! Plus, it's non-GMO and Gluten-free! And there's more! The friendly staff, namely Zina gave me a small free box of even more assortment of baklavas to try which will surely be shared with my family.

If you ever had a 1AM "I NEED a donut" moment... just know I absolutely acted on mine…read more So yes -- I pulled up to Honey Donuts in Santee because when the craving hits, it HITS. And since they're open 24 hours, I knew I had a good chance of getting something fresh. Let me tell you what I grabbed: Glazed donut Bear claw Sinclair donut BABY... when I tell you these donuts were hitting?! The glazed didn't even make it home. Not even out the parking lot good. You know how sometimes you bite into a donut and it's just... air? Dry? No substance? Not here. These were hearty but still light, fresh without being greasy, and that glaze? Soft and perfectly sweet -- not that dry, crackly, fall-off-in-your-lap situation. Just melt-in-your-mouth goodness. And that bear claw? Stuffed and substantial. They are not skimping on anything over here. The donuts are a really good size too. At $1.75 for regular donuts and $3.00 for the large fancy ones, it's honestly a steal. Now let's talk service. Peter is SO sweet. Great customer service, patient, and he'll happily explain the donuts, ingredients, and menu if you have questions. That kind of hospitality at 1AM? Top tier. I'll be honest -- I'm normally a Sunny Donut girlie... but "Honey Donuts" just took them down and took the crown. If you're ever in Santee and you want fresh, affordable, legit GOOD donuts any time of day (or night), give them a try. You won't regret it. Thank me later. You're welcome.

Long before it was Mary's, this place was Zona's Donuts, and at a different location. I can still remember coming here as a kid--back when there were live stock in the nearby yard and life felt a little slower. Decades later, I walked in, grabbed an apple fritter, and it hit exactly the same. That kind of consistency is rare. That kind of nostalgia is priceless. Let's talk about that apple fritter--this is the benchmark. Crispy edges, soft inside, perfectly glazed. I've had them all over the country, and this one holds its own as a top contender anywhere in the U.S. No exaggeration. But it's more than just the donuts. It's the feeling. The staff is always friendly, the vibe is familiar, and every visit feels like a warm hug from your childhood. Nothing flashy, nothing trendy--just done right, every single time. This place is a staple. If you're from Santee, you know. If you're visiting San Diego, this is a must-stop. Some places change with time. Mary's Donuts proves that the best ones don't have to.
