Barn8 started out to be a seemingly good experience. The location was fantastic, the atmosphere was wonderful! We arrived and entered, to be greeted by a kind hostess. We did not have a reservation, but she said she could quickly accommodate us. After a short wait, she came back and told us that she couldn't seat us as quickly as she had first thought, but we were welcome to wait in the lounge, or take one of the lounge high tops and have brunch there. We were short on time, and opted to sit there and eat. There wasn't anyone else in the lounge except the Bartender and us. Was took our seats, as the hostess brought us silverware and waters. From that point on, it went down hill quickly. After sitting a brief time, the bartender cane from behind the bar, and asked us for a drink order. No other way to put it... "he clearly wasn't happy". We gave him the order, and thanked him... he just walked away with no response. Thinking to myself, "wow, usually someone says you're welcome when they thank you". He didn't say a word. I'd like to say emotionless, but it wasn't, it was just nasty and negative. I was kinda stunned. As he walked back to the bar, I asked him "you having a good day?"... his reply was "yep". Ok... he's clearly not happy. We read over the menu and checked out the extensive bourbon list. After about 5 minutes, he comes back and kinda just stares at us with his pad and pen. After a few moments, he points with his fingers at us and huffed "ARE YOU READY?". By this time, I'm getting PO'd. We ordered and he started to walk away. Again, I said "thank you!"... with his same roll of the eyes , he just walks away, saying nothing. By now, it's a problem. He walks behind the bar again, so I ask him "are you the bar manager?"... he said "no, he's off"... I said "what's your name?"... he said "Zach"... I asked "how long have you'll been open?" He said "one year". Clearly Zach isn't happy or in a good mood. Zach continued to be cold, Unprofessional, rude and down right negative. It was one of those situations, where the servers energy is palpable. You know it when you feel it! Was he having a bad shift? Was he not feeling well? I don't know, but it takes zero effort to be kind. If you're not well, stay home. If you're not happy, suck it up, or find another profession! In my opinion, he's just a negative person. I watched his interaction with other servers, and he gave the the same attitude. In my opinion, if a restaurant has been open for one year, and they've struggled like all other restaurants, why would you put your WORST foot forward? Y'all get the picture. One apple spoiled my whole experience. I'll never be back. I know several people, living within 2-3 miles from there. I'll not be recommending this place to them. That's how the business works. Had we gotten a table, would it have been different? Probably.
Overall, the atmosphere was a 10! It's beautiful! The food was a 6. I ordered the biscuit with gravy (way over salted). My guest ordered the vegetarian hash (also over salted, and without creativity). It wasn't inexpensive. IMO, overpriced. You're paying for location and atmosphere. The service was a 2. Overall, a not so good experience. I will not be back, Thanks to Zach. read more
