All members of this singing group have beautiful voices, can play numerous instruments and have a show that flows with perfection! We saw the Christmas show. The songs range from fun songs to the most beautiful songs like Mary Did You Know and hallelujah. it gave me goosebumps. I went here with 15 other people for New Year's Eve. It is a great place to have a decent meal and hear excellent musicians and singers. This is a family run operation. Some of the folks who greet you at the door and serve your food will be in the stage entertaining you later in the evening. The food is good, like the kind of meal your grandma made for Sunday dinner. But your grandma didn't start you off with a piece of chocolate cake! You get pot roast, gravy, mashed potato, salad, carrots & a wheat roll. They come by with pork ribs & chicken too. The ribs are very good, especially with the spicy barbecue sauce! There is ice water, decaf coffee & lemonade in pitchers on the table. They have a full bar, with a decent wine & beer selection, mixed drinks, sodas and iced tea for fair prices. At intermission, you can buy ice cream or a root beer float and there is a topping bar. The family does shows for Alzheimer's facilities with the proceeds from light up rings, teeth & hats. This is in memory of the founder, who had Alzheimer's. This is a nice family, the kind of folks you'd love to have as neighbors. The entertainers interact with the audience at intermission and are down-to-earth people. All the people on stage play multiple instruments and sing. You could bring your parents, grandparents and young children there without ever worrying about anyone hearing an off-color joke. The show is a nice balance of music from the 50's through the 70's with a good balance of gospel, country and rock & roll. If you liked the Barbara Mandrell Show or Grand Old Opry, you'll love Barleen's. Generally, it is a 60+ crowd, but if you are looking for a fun time, this is a great place to find it. My cousin and I went to the Barleens Dinner Show. Staff was wonderful. They ever accommodated my cousins vegetarian diet with a delicious dinner option for her. Most places throw some frozen veggies on a plate and serve it. Not there, they did skip the gravy on the potatoes since the gravy was made with meat drippings. She was very happy with her meal. We also had a person with a gluten free diet need and she was also very happy with her meal. Mine was delicious as well- chicken, ribs, pot roast, mashed, gravy, rolls, chocolate cake. They also offered ice cream for purchase at intermission, but I was wayyyyy too full! The show itself was cute, funny and the music was great. I saw a variety of ages and it appeared that everyone was having a good time! I definitely recommend this show to anyone in the area. read more

I kept hearing about this little jewel in the desert and I finally got to see it for myself. Outside Phoenix near Superstition Mountain is a family owned dinner music house filled with amazing talent that serves a fantastic meal on top of it. The Barleens and other talented musicians gave 150% today to make sure we had a great time. The comedian/ baritone made me laugh so hard I almost choked - then he came out and did opera. Country, yodeling, rock- they had it all - it was their best of the year as they prepare to close the season next week. I met people who have been back 4 or 5 times and they say it's always something new. Everyone at our table loved it. It is a long show and might be better suited to adults than children. read more

We went to Barleens last night at the recommendation of some friends and some pretty encouraging "on-line" reviews. As we were staying on the far north side of Phoenix it was a bit of a drive to get to Apache Junction. We should have gotten there earlier in the day to check out some of the other tourist attractions in that general area. My bad. It was a pretty mature crowd (my way of saying a bunch of old people) but at my age I certainly didn't stand out! :-) Not sure of their seating capacity but it appeared to be at least 400 with few empty seats. The food was very good. Much better than we've had at many other dinner theater experiences. At intermission there was an opportunity to get sundaes or root beer floats. I was too full and we needed to head out early. The show we attended was their Variety Spectacular. There was variety, but I didn't find it particularly spectacular. That's not to say that it was bad. It just didn't blow me away. If your expectations are not too high you shouldn't be disappointed and I'm sure some things are just a matter of personal preference. I particularly enjoyed the bit with the tuba player. (When you hear him you'll know what I mean.) As a matter of fact all of the band did an excellent job. Some of the voices and some of the combinations of voices were better than others. As the show progressed I realized that many of the performers were also some of the same people greeting us as we arrived, bringing us food, working the bar, etc. And many of them were part of the Barleen family. Wow! What a great experience! These people know how to put on a show! We did the lunch show. Everyone from the greeter to the wait staff were super friendly and very helpful. We took my 86 year old mother in law, and she loved it. And then to our surprise, so did we!they are incredibly entertaining and very talented!. Everyone is the show can sing and play multiple instruments. The food is pretty good too, considering they have to serve several hundred at one time. I love that the cake is on the table when you sit down....and many people eat it first...and it's delicious! Absolutely go see this...it's worth the drive to Apache Junction! read more

This was our first time seeing the show........From leaving the bus with a police officer telling us to LINE-UP like Barnie Fifer (spelling?). The food was Excellent as well as the waitresses. The show was outstanding, such talent and thoroughly enjoyable. Seeing outfits, etc. from previous shows of the past were really interesting...never realized such talent existed in Arizona moving down from Montana. We certainly will make another visit. a group of us went to Barleens for New Years Eve, as we have done for at least ten years. The food was good as always. The show was filled with multi talented performers, but although we thought that it would be a variety show, it was mostly loud rock and roll with some excellent opera and ballads interspersed. The main issue that we all had, was that when the live show was not on, the was canned music BLARING the whole time. It was impossible to visit with friends even across the table without shouting until was were hoarse. PLEASE tone down the canned music to a quiet background dinner music so it is possible for us to have a pleasant dinner and visit with friends or meet new people at the table. read more

This is the second time my wife has been here and the first for me. The Club I belong to chartered a bus and we among the 55 riders. It cost us $55, bus ride, dinner show and gratuity for the bus driver. What a deal. We got there at 5:35pm and were seated immediately with Chocolate cake waiting for us. If you order drinks, be prepared to wait, one cocktail server for about 40 people in our section, of about 10 or 11 tables. $6 for wine. At about 6:30 the servers bring out the food which was Pot Roast, carrots, biscuit and salad. Then a cart comes around with pork ribs and chicken nuggets, one per person. Food was pretty good considering the amount of people in the theater, which was sold out. For the ribs, the Meat just slid off the bone and was delicious. The show which is operated and also entertained us was exceptional. This family of 23 puts in a VERY entertaining show. My wife said it was different from the last time she came. I felt I should have paid more for my ticket. So, I give this a 5 star rating. read more

Move over Branson, Missouri! The Barleen family has built quite the variety show mecca in Apache Junction. The Arizona Opry is a hoot! It's like a 1980s Disney variety show (no characters) crossed with Hee Haw! One of the performers looks like John Denver and sings a few covers. (There's a John Denver Tribute Show planned for February) Another dresses up like Willie Nelson. The husband is an original member of the Tokens (The Lion Sleeps Tonight) and, of course, reprises the song as a part of the show. They play about 70 different instruments throughout the night. The show takes place in a big hall off Old West Highway, filled with snowbirds and Red Hat Ladies. There's a gift shop with novelties like blinking rings and yodeling pickles and a "record store" with CDs from all of the performers. They've created quite the library over the years!! For the low, low price of $29 including tax and tip ($22 for kids age 3-12), you get all of this PLUS a cafeteria-inspired meal of roast beef or chicken (depending on the night) and chocolate cake. Lemonade and coffee are included and beer is available for $4.50/bottle. It's family fun, although, somewhat cheesy -- you've gotta give it to them - they've got talent. I was very nervous at first the line was very long and we had made reservations 4 weeks before, and then it was nearly sold out. We got in the line and got in within 10 minutes. I was very happy about that. When we walked in the people seemed very friendly and funny from the beginning. When you sit you immediately get chocolate cake, which was very yummy. You also get free drinks like tea, coffee and lemonade. There were all older people at this location. The tables are very close, so there is not much privacy. You can hear other's conversations. It also is a little loud brocade of the TV's going. There is a very funny little talk by an actor police officer. Before you eat. This place would have gotten a 5/5 stars from me. During eating we had multiple people tell us to move our baby. We also had a table of 7 and they wanted to move my baby's seat saying that someone had a reservation with us. There were 7 of us reserved and a table of 8. They wanted to put someone next to us that we didn't know. That makes no sense to me and I was disappointed in that part. The food was great, and so was the experience and most of the people. The lighting is a dim light. Meat is good. Carrots are sweet. Have vegetarian option. Salad. Roll and butter. Got chicken and beef options along with meal. There is not a menu. They serve everybody everything. I liked that while you ate you could hear each other. Cake served before meal. There is an option of vanilla pudding. (Store bought in a cup). Bathrooms. Store. Very small store. I loved the music! They worked jokes into the show! I absolutely loved the music.
