I heard about this venue from a musician that was playing steel drums by the pool at the Marriott Resort in Scottsdale. We enjoyed his music so much so we thought we would go. It took a while during rush hour to get there so allow extra time. It was so worth it and everything was wonderful!! We went to a variety show.. so much talent and so enjoyable and entertaining! We went with another couple and they enjoyed it so much also. The food was delicious also. It was very reasonably priced.. so worth it! Not at all what I expected! We came to Barleens just to kill some time. The show was old time rock and roll. Dinner was really good I had roast beef and ribs definitely home style. I'd give this place 4.75 stars but it's not an option. We went for the Christmas Holiday Show & it didn't disappoint! Upon entering we were greeted by one of the performers immediately and escorted to our seats. As first timers everything was explained. A waitress quickly greeted us & took our cocktail order (fair prices as well). On the table was an amazing slice of chocolate cake that I consumed before the meal! Being a vegetarian I opted to skip the chicken and beef and the meal was "okay"... basically a salad with a bunch of veggies (not too creative but at least they tried). The performance was stellar! With such a variety of singers and the amazing musical talent I got chills listening to some of the Christmas classics. We had front row seats and we're able to really get a close up view of the variety of instruments these talented performers play. We were visiting the area from Wisconsin. We come out yearly and put Barleens as a priority. This year we saw "the season's best" show and it was the absolute best of the years we've been coming. The food was delightful as usual and the musicality of this large group of performers is absolutely wonderful. This was a fun musical experience with a tasty meal served efficiently and cheerfully. From the time we walked in the door we were greeted by the staff and shown to our table in a very welcoming manner. This has to be the biggest bargain for unbelievably talented musicians that put on a great stage show. The range of voices and professional stage presence in this family is astounding. Called for a reservation for dinner and show for our party of 4. We were told that we could sit at 4 different tables for dinner or we could could sit together for just the show only. We opted for the show only and had dinner at Filly's Roadhouse prior. First impression when we walked in was "Wow, what is that smell?" (and NOT in a good way!). It smelled of sweaty, old people. Then I looked around, and well, the room was huge and was filled to the capacity (500 ?) with sweaty, old people. At almost 50, we were definitely the youngest in the crowd. It was really hot and smelly in that big, huge room. If they'd opened a door or turned on the A/C it would have helped. The show itself is filled with talented people! The Barleen twins + one brother are very active in the show and do well at it. The absolute BEST performer and who made the show this past Friday night, though was.....Michael Jay. Wow! He's a bass singer with a 6 octave range and he knows what to do with his talents! Fantastically amazed & enjoyed the impressions he did! On another note, the Barleens really need to update/upgrade their parking lot. Just driving through trying to find a space, one notices right away that with the age group that they cater to, there is not enough handicapped parking space. They have the employee parking up front so that customers have to walk quite a distance. There are several torn up parts of the parking lot that need to be fixed (just setting up cones so that people avoid the damaged areas doesn't really make sense). Maybe if they hire an engineer to re-design their parking lot it would be more functional? I'm glad we saw the show as it was something new to us and we were entertained. It was really nice that they ended the show with a religious song. Would I return? Probably not. Would I recommend it? Probably yes, but I would definitely share with the people I was talking with about it, about how they'd be packed in like sardines for dinner so I'd recommend eating prior and going for the show-only. read more

The Arizona Opry is one of the finest entertainment venues in Arizona! I have been enjoying the food and wonderful shows for the past six years. There is a variety of different shows, ALL of which are terrific!! The musicians are multi instrumentalists and present music of all genres. The Barleens twins harmonize with siblings and play a variety of instruments. It is obvious they are accomplished musicians and vocalists. George, the musical director, was with the Tokens and their hit song was "The Lion Sleeps Tonight", a song he sings in most shows. The entertainer who sings and plays trumpet like Louis Armstrong is absolutely terrific. His "Wonderful World" brings tears to my eyes. The guy who sings "Unchained Melody" is super. One fellow does a superb impersonation of Willie Nelson. The meal precedes the show, and is very good. This dinner theatre is a "must see" ! read more

It's a fun, entertaining evening with toe tapping music and light hearted comedy. Dinner was delicious. Beef with gravy, mashed potatoes, carrots, salad, roll and an option to add (for free) pork ribs and chicken breast. They serve 400-500 people in 20 minutes! Very well organized and staff is ultra friendly. Not many venues left like this anymore. We went for the rock and roll from the 50s and 60s and it was so fun to go back in time! I not going to tell you the food is wonderful but it was abundant & not bad. But the show was fantastic & everyone working there was terrific. We had the best time & can't wait to return. It is certainly a night that everyone will enjoy including children. During the intermission besides the very chocolate cake served with the dinner, there are ice cream sundaes & root beer floats to be purchased for a mere $4.00 with all the trimmings. OUTSTANDING!!!! From the time we entered the building to the time we left! We were greated by a cast member as each memeber of the family have multiple positions. The Service was out standing! The food was served to the whole room within 15 minutes. The food was hot and delicious. The show was outstanding. Every performer was so talented. We just loved the whole night. We arrived at 5:15 for the dinner show and left at 10:00pm. We paid $40.00 each for the evening, plus tip. The price included the show, Dinner (which was great) and coffee, ice tea or lemonade! I visited the Opry last week, and all I can say is WOW! They start you off with the food, which is great! Definitely enough for even the biggest appetites, and I guess you can order more specialized dinner too (like vegetarian, etc.) Some of the performers are even there to greet you at the door and walk you to your tables, which is a great personal touch. You can tell these people enjoy what they do! The show was fantastic. The performance I saw was from the mid 50's to mid 60's and they definitely played the classics. The musicians are true professionals in every sense of the word. They have incredible talent, and also know how to entertain both themselves and the audience. I wasn't bored at all during the porformance. The main performers sing and play a wide range of intruments, and you can tell they have made performing their career. I'm not sure about the last review on here, but they must not see a lot of live performances that focus on quality of music and quality of tone. I was very entertained here at the Opry, the people were friendly, the show was fantastic, and I would love to go see another show! read more

I don't think Tim E. and I went to the same show. I went with a group just to be social, but was I surprised! The name threw me off making me expect podunk hick quality.The musicality is outstanding, they had a nice variety of styles and admittedly cheesy humor but the crowd ate it up. The food was great and hot. They now serve both chicken and pot roast. I didn't finish it, not because it wasn't good but because the portions were too generous. I'm guessing Tim E. is young and did not appreciate the quality of the classic rock n' roll, western, jazz, musical theater and more. This was our third visit and what a huge disappointment. They changed musicians and the spark just wasn't there. Saw the rock and roll show and it was very amateurish and hokey. Not very polished. With the repertoire of songs to choose from in the 50's and 60's could have done a much better job. There were a couple of good performances but for a two hour show entertainment was very deficient. Brother did a great job on the one song he performed and wished he would have played a bigger role. Would not go back unless I knew that Mark Lucas and crew would performing. If the same group of musicians performing the rock and roll show are also doing the country show, think the "Opry" could be in trouble. read more

My husband and I, along with our parents (both sets have been married for 50+ years) just left experiencing a Barleens show - WOW! What an incredible show. It was their best of the year line up filled with music across different genres and comedy sprinkled in. Phenomenal talent, the entire group. The servers are friendly and efficient. Did the negative reviewers go to the same place? We are snowbirds & it is probably meant for snowbirds but I LOVED it. Went three times in one month. Took husband 2 out of 3 times & he loved it too. Meal was good. We met nice people at our table every time we went. The show was fantastic. I have never seen anyone play a trumpet with one hand, a keyboard with another, and sing also. There are instruments all over the stage & these folks play so many types of horns, guitars, drums. The performers greet you at the door & a couple of them sell the CDs. Loved it so much we have reservations for Thanksgiving. If young people don't like the show, that's what's wrong with young people today. For the 50+ set, if you love oldies but goodies & hours of clean entertainment, this is the show for you. It seemed like such a wholesome family-run business. I would love to work there next year taking phone orders for tickets. Everyone was real friendly. George sings like a bird, the twins are great, Mark is funny as all get out, the guys who imitate John Denver & Willie Nelson are spot on. Bought 4 CDs & a t-shirt as fond memories.
