My neighbors hired Barkdusters. The enormous truck and its blowing machinery are deafening, far louder than a normal barkdusting operation. It's industrial-level noise, completely unsuitable for a residential neighborhood. Be aware of this company. Our HOA had this company sub-contracted out through our landscaping provider, who was paid for this service. Apparently, the landscaping company, and Barkduster are having a dispute over payment. Barkduster response was to send Notice of Intent to Lien to home owners properties. I don't know who runs a business like this, but I've been waiting for them to call and schedule my job for 2 months. They told me that the guy who does the scheduling only schedules 1 day in advance and would call me the day before they were going to show up. Well, 2 months have gone by now and I've called them twice to get the same stupid story that "the guy" will call me. Well, I've enough of waiting for these people to call with their "1 day notice". They seem to be the only bark blowers in the county and maybe that is why they feel they can be so horrible at customer service. If I could give them a zero I would. We just moved into a new house and our yard huge, we paid a large amount of money to have it professionally done. Barkdusters was hired to do the top coat. what a mistake!!! There is more trash in this top dressing than anything else. I'm talking batteries, metal, glass pottery, even a hot wheels car and more plastic than the dump. We installed artificial grass and the plastic blows all over it from the flower beds. I have tried raking to collect the trash but the next day there is more. I didn't pay for trash! Your company has ruined our yard. We moved to a new development and I will never recommend your company. I want everyone to know how bad this is. read more

They did a nice job. Fast, efficient and property looks good. My only complaint is scheduling. After knowing what week they'd show up a month in advance, it seemed like I had to call them several times that week before I could get a commitment on what exact day they were going to show up. In fact, I had to call them while they told me the truck was just leaving from another house to mine. Um, thanks for the notice. If you have a very flexible schedule, that's OK. I don't. The operator was fast and did a great jub. He cleaned up after himself very well. The problem? I ordered 1 unit (I believe that is 10 yards or so), which is the same amount I ordered 2 years ago which covered front and back with 2" of bark dust. I was told that the cost would be $369. I told the operator to blow most of it on the back and if there was any extra, blow it on the front, which needed very little. I was amazed to be handed a bill for $719! He said he used 2 units and he did not check with me when he finished the first, which he should have done, without me telling him to check first! Just a warning,,,if you use this service make sure how much is on the truck FIRST, then be sure that the operator understands that he needs to check with you before he blows in anymore!!! Wowzer! I had a great experience with these guys! They were very nice and on time. Our whole yard was covered in black compost in less than an hour. Their method of blowing the barkdust is genius - no large pile of bark, wheel barrels, shoveling, etc... Our property looked amazing!!! I will be calling back for cedar chips for our kids' play area. I got a bid from Barkdusters for $7,000 worth of playground wood fiber. I tried to order from them for 2 weeks and could not get anyone to call me back. I emailed, and called multiple times. I was promised a return call on several occasions and never got one. I would not recommend them if your need is time sensitive. I wasted a lot of time waiting for these guys! read more

I don't normally leave reviews (who has the time?!), but that being said, we were SO thrilled with the service that we received from Barkdusters that I knew I needed to leave a review. We live in SW Portland on one of those "Old Portland" narrow streets. It's a never-ending challenge to explain the narrow-ness of the street to companies who need to drive down and deliver to our house. Barkdusters arrived with a giant truck and ended up having to back down the street to get the hose into our backyard, but they were 100% willing to make the effort to make this delivery happen. We couldn't appreciate their can-do attitude more, especially since this is the only way (aside from buying a bazillion bags at HD) we could get this task done. On top of that our yards (front and back) look absolutely amazing. They cleaned up the overspray and made sure that the bark was only where it was supposed to be. AND they only charged us for the amount of barkdust that we needed (we needed 1.5 units and other companies were unwilling to do 1/2 units). I can't recommend this company enough. Additionally, I don't know that I will ever spread barkdust myself again. I'm a convert! read more

Called Barkdusters Vancouver location last week to schedule a unit (71/2 yards) of nuggets for delivery this week. My load arrived as scheduled. The delivery drivers were amazing at their job, blowing in a unit of beautiful nuggets. We needed more than the 71/2 yards to finish the job. Thankfully, this is a smart company, and they had another unit and a half on truck. We used another half a unit. My customer was happy to pay for what we needed and the job was completed. I will highly recommend using this company to everyone. The two man crew did an awesome job and know how to work a backpack blower for that perfect finish. These guys didn't check to see if any doors were open and proceeded to blow bark dust all over our kitchen. No kidding - we had an entire layer of bark dust covering our kitchen when we came home. When I emailed the company, Bob dismissively informed me that I had the wrong company. And then no further response. Unbelievable. read more
