I've been trying to get him here at least once a week, but may bump it up to two now that the weather is getting colder and the days darker. When I pick him up he's usually really amped from all the playtime, but after dinner quickly settles and chills with my husband and I on the couch - a tall order, as he is firmly in his angsty teen puppy phase. Weird aside, but I recently reached out to customer service to see if they've been cleaning him or spraying him with something before I pick him up, because he usually comes home smelling surprisingly fresh - I was told that nope, it's just the clean environment! All in all, this place is a great spot for your pup to get their socialization in and wind-up-toy energy out. I love that they know my guy by name (even if he's one of, like, seven Cooper's who visits), and I adore how happy he is to walk through the door each visit. Nice local spot filled with people who really care about their furry clients.

When I asked them if they can provide any insight on what happened, they mentioned he was playing rough and was relaxing by himself- my dog doesn't relax by himself when he's around other dogs, he's playful and his RELIABLE dog sitter calls him the life of the party. They did however confirm they saw blood on the floor but just assumed it was from another dog's urine-- WHAT! As a dog owner we all know when there's blood in a dog's urine it is watery, it doesn't actually look like blood! My dog had blood under his eye, an open wound and blood reside in his hair. His veterinarian confirmed it wasn't an injury playing with another dog.

Furry Styles - When mom is away, Queen Krusty stays with two bodyguards, Rossi and Lars

All furbabies and their parents are lucky in Boston area to have Furry Styles…read more Wish Krusty and I could move to Cambridge. Stefani, the owner of Furry Styles, previous owner of Tefani & So. Dogcare in San Francisco, and mom of two golden retrievers, Rossi and Lars, is the savior for us when I was looking for daycare for Krusty back in 2021. I guess all dog parents have their own challenges with their dogs. Krusty is lovable and smart, but she is sometimes moody and protective of her mom. However, Stefani always focused on her positive side and potential and helped Krusty to be better K9 citizen in last 3-4 years while we were with Tefani. Even though Krusty is very picky with human and other dogs, Stefani quickly became her favorite person and Tefani was her favorite place to go every morning. The pictures with Krusty's big smile, which Stefani shared with me every day, always made my day while I was at work. Sometimes, I am not sure how Stefani remembers all details about Krusty, but, Yes, she remembers everything. She knows whether Krusty needs more attention or some space. She communicates with me if there is any I have to be aware of. She took care of Krusty like her own dog with lots of love while I was away. Even though Krusty is very sensitive with others who try to touch her paws or butt, Krusty trusts Stefani for grooming and Stefani knows Krusty so well that she always provides best haircut for Krusty that fit into her lifestyle. We are still sad that Stefani moved to Boston. We miss her so much.

Patty, the owner seemed lovely. I wasn't thrilled about the size of the crates 6x4, but figured we could do a trial run for 1 night before his actual stay. We agreed on a day and time for me to bring my cat and the day before she asked if I could come at 9:00am instead of 9:30am because she was heading out for 2 hours at 9:15!! WHAT?? She thought nothing of having me bring my cat who had never been there before, shove him in a crate and the leave right after he gets there for 2 hours? The whole point of me bringing him was for her to meet him, see how he does. When I asked if it might be better to bring him later that day when she would be around, she said no I'm having company!! Again WHAT?? How much attention and time was she planning on spending with my cat who would probably have been frightened as can be. I would NEVER bring my cat there and I'm so happy that I learned what she's truly all about beforehand. Looks can be deceiving!!

It starts with puppy play time, where…read morethe pups don't just play, but are under his supervision so you can learn about good play patterns, and the dogs can teach each other their styles without the owners interfering. After that comes lots of important lessons and demonstrations, with Gordon teaching you all the basics of how to get your pup well socialized, and the psychology behind the timing and methods of training to help you better understand and remember. It's a far more comprehensive puppy training class than I've had in the past, where we just covered the basics of sit/down/stay. This class will really prepare your pup to be a great new addition to your family!

I cannot recommend Zen Dog Training enough! We took the puppy class led by Gordon. It's truly…read moreamazing all of the content that he can fit into six sessions, and we loved that the five to ten minutes of "play time" at the beginning and end of the class gave our puppy a chance to meet other dogs and learn how to play nicely. (Side note: we always felt so safe during this time as Gordon is great at keeping an eye on pups and recognizing signs of play getting too rough). Our puppy, Puck, learned a variety of commands throughout his six weeks in the class: sit, down, stand, stay, his own name, leave it, "let's go" to get moving on walks, and "heel" to stay by our side on walks. He also learned many behavior corrections. Puck literally stopped play biting in 2 days after using Gordon's "out of the pack" technique (that alone made the class worth it to us), and Gordon's "leash step" tactic is already working on curbing his jumping on new people. Most importantly for us, WE learned so much as dog owners! Gordon taught us about puppy socialization, how to help our dog build confidence, which training tools we should have, and how to make sure we are recognizing and responding to any signs of him becoming a "fearful" dog. The experience with Gordon was truly invaluable and I think we would be lost as new puppy owners if we hadn't done this class. We were on the fence about paying for a puppy class and thought maybe we could find all of our resources on Google and using podcasts alone. Folks, I am here to say that you should not try to take dog training into your own hands. You truly get what you pay for -- this class is so worth it, and Gordon is a true professional. We have zero regrets about our decision to attend! One thing to keep in mind with this class (and probably any good puppy class) is that you do have to put in work outside of the class. Gordon really stressed this and made sure we all understood what our "homework" was for the week, and had access to training materials that we could review in between classes. I think if you are looking for a perfect solution where the trainer will train your dog for you, then this might not be the class for you -- but if you are looking to learn how to train your dog, and are invested in making sure you work in training sessions every day for the 6 week duration, then you truly couldn't find a better place than Zen Dog! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Thank you Gordon for all of your work with Puck - we will miss the Tuesday class :) --Mary & Brandon
