Sheeeeer yakh I have to start with the best which is their sheer yakh!! They make it fresh on the spot and it's so creamy dreamy! We also enjoyed quite the brunch spread. Their strong points were def the eggs. I've honestly had better bolani and mantu but they weren't bad! Vibes were good, service was friendly. I'm always on the lookout to try different types of food. I thought this food was from Timor but that's a family name! It was Afghan! And it was so delicious. The service was slow and getting the food was slower, but it was worth the weight. It was made made cooked to order. soup was to come with a meal they had run out and we're making it again so that took a long time and gosh that was worth the wait! Afghan food is absolutely amazing. This place tastes better than the average Afghan places I have been to. I got a lamb shank with what looks like Qabli palau, but I think they called it Manicha. It comes with bread, chickpeas, and spicy pickled vegetables on the side. Service was fine, and ambiance was fine. But you're here for the food and it's amazing. read more

I ate here last year (2025) and was tremendously impressed with the food, service, and atmosphere. That meal was probably the best Afghan meal I've had in years (I eat Aghan food often). This was partly because it was unusually spicy for Afghan food, but mostly just because it was delicious. A second meal here today was a major disappointment. I brought my concerns to the owner, who asked for understanding because they are now under new management. That's fair, every new restaurant needs some time to work out the problems. But the problems today were major. I hope the restaurant will improve over time, but today's meal was an unpleasant experience. The menu is now much shorter than before. Other than kebabs, there are only four entrees on the menu. We ordered three of them, plus mantu as an appetizer. One, qawr dagh, a slow-cooked stew, was very good, like a rich beef stew. No complaints there, although I missed the assertive spicing of the previous management's dishes. The second dish, fried fish, was fine. It wasn't hot fresh off the stove, but it was still warm. It might have been slightly over-fried and there was little discernible spicing, but it was tasty enough, as was the accompanying rice. The third dish, lamb karayee shinwari, was a disaster. This dish, which is lamb with fried onions and (according to the menu) green chilis, cooked in the lamb's own fat, should be slow cooked and tender. Instead, it was badly overcooked, tougher than the toughest beef jerky. It was tough to get even some of the meat off the bones and so dry it was hard to swallow. And no chilies. I ALWAYS take my leftovers home, but I left more than half of this dish for the restaurant's trash because it was tough, dry, and tasteless. At $44.95, this dish, which came with just bread, a half lemon, and a small dish of torshi, was a bad deal. I can't comment on the mantu since the server apparently did not write this down when we ordered it. Communications with the server and the timeliness of the service were major issues. It took more than 25 minutes after our party was complete to take our order and then 50 minutes after that we still had no entrees. We wanted some lemon with our excellent chicken soup, but the server never checked in with us. We also wanted to check on our missing mantu, but there was no server to be found. We tried to order salad, but the server told us it was not necessary because it came with the meal. And we wanted our drinks (a pot of tea, a diet coke, and water), but it never came and there was no server to be found. One member of our party had only a limited amount of time because of work emergencies, so after 45-plus minutes of waiting, we decided to go up front and pay, and leave to go to McDonald's. At that point, the owner said the food was ready, so we returned to our table and we were served some of our food within a minute or two. However, we were served with no forks or knives, so we were left sitting looking at our food for several minutes longer until I went up to the counter and asked for some forks. Our drinks arrived a few minutes after that. We never got any salad or mantu. I raised my concerns with the manager. He gave some explanations. (a) As mentioned above, he said the restaurant is under new management and is working out the bugs. (b) He said that we had ordered dishes that take a long time to prepare. I'm sure that's right, since other customers were being served much more quickly than us, but they appeared to have ordered kebabs. That is understandable, but there should have been a warning about the preparation time, since we were limited in time and would have ordered something else if we had known. (c) He printed out the receipt to prove that we had not ordered the mantu. I said that we had, but that it was probably a communication problem. The server's English was very weak (although better than my non-existent Dari or Pashto). The owner said he would personally wait on us the next time. (d) He said that it is traditional in Afghanistan for the drinks to be served only with the food, but that we should have asked for the drinks to come earlier. I didn't argue, but we had looked and looked for a server to ask to bring the drinks. Only one server came by our table during the 45-minute-plus wait and she turned her head the other way as she walked by. The owner did not have an explanation for the 25-minute delay in the server taking our order after our party was complete. (5) The owner said that in Afghanistan a "salad" means only sliced onion and lemon. However, my entree (the lamb karahi shinwari) did not have even the sliced onion. I've had lettuce salads at many Afghan restaurants here in the US (and in Uzbekistan). While I'm sure the owner is right about Afghan tradition, a meal of only dry meat and bread was disappointing. Again, the restaurant is under new management and might get better. read more

A perfect choice for a low key, delicious celebration of our 30th anniversary. Our waiter greeted us with complimentary bowls of Chicken Veggei Afghan Soup - really tasty and a nice warm up from having just come in from the cold. We had 2 appetizers - Ashak and Manto, and Shami Kabob (ground beef) and Chicken. All were delicious and since we shared the entree, we had room for dessert. Their Afghan ice cream was unexpectedly yummy, infused with rose and cardamom, and it had a delightful, thin shell dusted with pistachio, presented as a tall cone. Their homemade baghlawa also was spot on. Our waiter was quite friendly and gracious, and other staff stopped by to ensure we were enjoying our occasion. Timorian restaurant has given us the best service for the past 3 days we have been here in D.C. It had delicious traditional afghan food you can't find anywhere and if you are looking to open your horizon to new food on your palette and trying afghan food then this is the place to come. The ambiance is really nice and has a nice vibe. And the service and hospitality is immaculate. Wow! What a great place. This is the most authentic Afghan food I've ever had. When you walk in the decor is very beautiful with flower decor. White tables line the restaurant with comfortable chairs. Now as far as the food, it was delicious from the appetizers to the home mad Kabul street ice-cream. Parking is tricky but we'll worth the inconvenience. Staff was very sweet & the owner will come to greet you at the table. read more

I welcome this new restaurant to the neighborhood, I was expecting for the first time their food to be top notch , and it was!! Lots of specials, breakfast, lunch, and dinner, which I am sure makes the kitchen very very challenging , However, like I said they were all fantastic , Service with three young ladies in the front a different concept, but they were doing all a fantastic job ,!!! Location is great but is challenging. It needs to be figured out as well as all the specials especially with breakfast seven days a week is not going to work In my humble opinion, But best wishes to your new venture !! Food is ok but prices overall in all our Afghan restaurants MUST come down! Quantities are lowering and prices hiking "unseasonably". Also service should improve along w bathroom and cleanliness. Recently a friend found hair in the food twice! Adding tip of 20% and not giving me an actual paper receipt before I pay to review is not acceptable! I will return and support our small businesses but only if there are efforts for improvement and really taking our feedback serious! read more
