Gluten free vanilla cake with mixed berry filling
    Alexandra G.

Gluten free desserts are so hard to find that are delicious, affordable, and actually safe to eat from cross contamination for someone with celiac disease. I'm so, so glad to have stumbled upon Bare Bakery. They made my birthday cake (Vanilla cake with mixed berry filling) and it was heavenly! The cake was moist, soft, and tasted great as leftovers when I'm so used to gluten free desserts crumbling or hardening up the next day. All of their other treats and delicacies look amazing too, and I can't wait to try more items off the menu soon!

Today's brownie cake - with Kelly's frosting message:). It is an ordinary day - that is now extraordinary:)

Bare Bakery has the most delicious baked goods!! I tried some of their brownies years ago. OMG - they were fantastic! They are gluten and dairy free. I was trying to cut down/eliminate refined sugar and many of their offerings are without these two ingredients also. Through the years, my husband, daughter, and now son-in-law have their favorite bare bakery goods. We have continued our love affair with the brownies, and added the raspberry vanilla ("wedding") cake (my husband's favorite), lemon and honey cake (my favorite), chocolate chip cookie cake (my daughter's favorite and the mini cakes - my son-in-law's favorite. These cookies and cakes have never disappointed. The are consistently delicious and up our happiness level when one of these delicious cakes are on our table (or counter:).

I'd been following the bakery on social media and needed a gf/v dessert for Thanksgiving. I ordered a chocolate pecan pie that was still warm when it was given to me! It was divine. Even the non-GF folks loved it! They have a very diverse menu and excited about trying some other pies, cakes and cookies. I understand they are at a few farmers markets. I picked mine up at the new location that's a little out of my way but worth the drive. Loved the drive up system for Covid purposes. It was easy to find and no wait. Also I had some confusion about my confirmation (user error) and owner was very responsive and helpful.

Sign up for their monthly newsletters, you will receive information on their interesting monthly tasting box! I ordered a cake tasting box back in September, and it was wonderful. We picked it up at the shop, and the box was wrapped in a cute bow, it looked so cute and fancy. Each box comes with four flavors, and you get two of each flavor, so a total of 8 mini cakes. The box was $35. It is a perfect little cake tasting box for a picnic, date night, a small friends/family tea party, or of course treats for just yourself. All of their cakes are dairy free and paleo, I wish it could be egg free too. The cake flavors we tried were: Spice Cake/Apple Jam/Vanilla Frosting (NF) Italian Cream Cake/Honey Vanilla Frosting Chocolate Cake/Espresso Frosting (NF) Vanilla Cake/Chai Spiced Vanilla Frosting (NF) Each cake was moist and flavorful, perfectly sized to satisfy your sweet tooth without overindulging yourself.

We ordered 2 the chocolate was gluten free!

Definitely recommend for gluten free cake! It's so hard to find a gluten free option, this one actually tasted amazing.

I have a very "difficult" family. I'm plant based, my sisters gluten free, and another family is allergic to peas. Finding a bakery that fits ALL of our diets is hard. Really hard. Making special occasions even harder. Then I stumbled upon Bare Bakery. So far it's the only place I know of in Houston that can cater to everyone in my family. Most places can serve one of us but not the other. The owner is super nice and works with you when needed. The cake was amazing. My only concern was getting their contact information was really hard. I had to contact them maybe three different ways and in the end she ended up messaging me. I would suggest posting your number somewhere. It took too much work to find your contact information for something I felt was urgent. It would be very helpful especially with the hours the business runs. A number where customers can contact you would be fantastic. Even if posted on the receipt. Other than that everything worked out perfectly. Thank you for the amazing cake!

Custom cake order (Italian cream with espresso frosting)

Amazing desserts & friendly staff! I stopped eating dairy & gluten years ago, so it's nice to have the option of getting sweets from somewhere when the craving hits. We ordered a custom cake (Italian cream with espresso frosting) and not only was it beautiful, it also tasted phenomenal. We'll definitely be ordering more in the future!!

Do you offer a vegan cake that does not use almond or coconut flour? Looking for vegan and treenut free option?

Sorry, but all of our current products contain either almond or coconut.

Hi! Are you able to accommodate a severe peanut and tree nut allergy?

Since we use almond flour in almost all of our products, we do not have dedicated nut-free equipment and so there is a chance of cross contamination.

So, if no "refined sugar", then what? Splenda?

Honey and maple syrup, I believe

Is this a special order only business or do you have a bakery store front or farmers market attendance?

Bare bakery has been at the Memorial Villages & Urban Harvest markets but right now is taking a break due to supply chain issue & general safety. Per the current newsletter, items are still available at retail partners:… Read more

We have never had a single day of bad service here so we have become regulars anytime we travel into the inner loop of Houston for business or fun. The flavors? My goodness the flavor here in every dish truly speaks to whoever is cooking these incredible dishes! We've even wanted to ask what we can do to even get our dishes at home this amazing! Their bang bang sauce is something you can rave about if you like a little kick to your broccoli. Yum! Luckily a lot of the appetizers are family style but we all still end up battling to finish the last bite before our main dish comes along! My husband has never been a vegetable eater and thanks to the Ginger Mule, we are changing up our dishes at home too! Whatever they are doing here, I hope they keep it up because we absolutely LOVE the food here!! Thank you to everyone here and we can't wait to be back!!!!

I'd say the crab puffs were the highlight of our meal but our entrees were pretty great and the portions here are huge. Service was amazing and our server added to our positive experience dining here. The burger was a slightly heavy, which is why I'd rate it 4 stars. With this being said, I'd definitely come back to try other items.

We had a wonderful waiter and gave us a lot of recommendation. But the treatment kind of fell off towards the end when he was held up by a huge party for a good while to the point where we changed our mind about desserts and after dinner drinks and had to go. The cocktail "come and take it" was balance and flavorful. The crab samosa is a hit. It is crammed with crab stuffing. It is amazing and you get two different kind of dipping sauce with it, Tartar and butter. This was the first that any restaurant has ever done for us, but they actually split our soup in half for us so what's pictured is the half the soup. The duck pad Thai was amazing!!! I wish I had that instead. I had the Caribbean braised oxtail. I wasn't a big fan. I felt like I was tasting more of the sauce and carbs. I asked for the mango and spices on the side. The mango was a nice plate cleanser in between bites. The ambience was really nice , definitely upscale compared to their Travis's Carr location and something that you should dress up for. This is good for a nice formal celebration dinner or date dates. Or fancy Bestie night. There is complementary valet at the front. They have a sign that says do not park across the street.

They are allergen-free and gluten-free for those with sensitivities, and my favorite-- no preservatives and artificial colors or ingredients! Also perfect for families with food allergies. ** S'more's donut (5/5)-- was more like a soft, super moist cake (not complaining, super delish). It had a nice chocolate flavor and sweetness. Not sure how allergen-free, vegan donuts usually taste like, but I totally gobbled this one up! Besides the marshmallow, it was more like a chocolate donut to me, but it was a yummy chocolate donut. ** Ube swirl cookie (3/5)-- their monthly special cookie which was eye-catching. Definitely used ube jam on top, which was all I could taste. I wasn't a fan of this one since it wasn't very sweet, but MT demolished it. The cookie base was a bit dry and crumbly, but I've never had a gluten-free cookie that wasn't. I would try another flavor next time :) The worker at the front was very bubbly and friendly, welcoming any questions we had. A freezer of packed ice cream pints and chocotacos (!), an ice cream case, and a pastry case of their muffins, brownie/blondies, and donuts were available. Luckily, I visited on a Wednesday which is their donut day. Check their website-- cupcakes on Fridays, donut cakes and cookie cakes on Saturdays. Seems like they're super muffins (made with veggies and fruits!) and beanie bars (made with beans and chickpeas) are always available. If lived closer, I'd be visiting regularly to try more donuts and all the other desserts (Choco-taco, I'm coming back for you! ). They are a little on the pricey side for the size, but I think it's worth knowing how clean the ingredients are. Definitely drop in and try something new if you're in the area!

I was expecting plentiful options to choose from, but what I saw was a section for ice cream, refrigerated items, and a tiny glass case of baked goods. The sweets they had was the brownies, one tiramisu cupcake, lemon blueberry "cheezecake" and tiny muffins. That's it! I follow Awesome Bites Co on Instagram and I often see the owner posting a wide variety of goodies. However, today 06/28/2025 they had more ice cream flavors to choose from than anything else. Disappointing. I got a sample of the lavender Earl Grey ice cream and fell in love with it. I ordered two scoops. It is creamy, subtle sweetness, tasted fully like Earl Grey tea by Harney and Sons brand with a lemony flavor with each bite. The scoops are small. The other flavors didn't seem too appealing especially the sunflower butter and olive oil one. I purchased the lemon blueberry cheezecake (as I wanted to compare it to Sinfull's). The cheezecake was an absolute scam: it was just moist cake with blueberry compote in the middle with vegan cream cheeze topping. I didn't even finish it because it was overly sweet and too moist that it began to stick to the roof of my mouth. Sinfull's taste more similar to traditional ones I remember from my childhood. The restaurant itself is small on the inside no indoor seating. It's decorated in a ton of rainbow items. It's a local business that's women and Asian owned. I wanted to love this place so much. The customer service was meh; the cashier wasn't interested in making small talk like they do at Sinfull's and it appeared as if it was strictly taking orders. If I plan on returning, I'll come for the lavender Earl Grey ice cream and stick with getting my baked goods from Sinfull Bakery since they have more options and abundance of items to choose from.
