We left immediately after coming. I'm sure they're great as a night club because it's very pretty inside but they're truly a disaster with seats. They put us in VIP (without asking us) and tried to tell us it was 50$ a person plus we had to buy a bottle (150$ is the cheapest bottle) and we asked to move out of VIP because we didn't ask for it. So they sent us to another section that said smoking section where they tried to make us buy a hookah. We just wanted cocktails and some food. Also it said no cover before 10 pm we got there at 845 and had to pay 10 to get in. We finally sat down in the chairs and it was so low compared to the table we laughed and then left. read more

This event last night was a strictly no phones event and I understand why now. They take everyone's phone, put them in locked pouches and take your ID so you can't take photos of how crowded and non covid compliant these events get. I left after an hour and a half because there were like 500+ people in the space and it wasn't even close to the headliner performance time which means there would've been way more arriving later in the evening. Terrible service, waiters are never around, and they keep telling you to sit in your seat even though everyone's piled up on each other anyway. Bathrooms stink and are filthy. I went to Barcode twice last week - once on a Tuesday for a private event and then again on Thursday for Latin night. This review is about Latin Night.... I have to say I had a great time at Barcode. The food was good, but bar service was a little slow - it seems they had a large drink order placed right before I ordered.... Music was good and a great mix of salsa, merengue, and bachata. They also played hip hop out on the heated patio. You were able to order Hooka's to the table and there was a two-lane bowling alley and pool table to use as well. Overall the establishment was large and clean - some spots of the floor were a little hard to dance on due to some spilled drinks, but the workers cleaned that up right away. I knocked down a star because parking in the area is a bit tough if you get there after 10:30. read more

EVERY table said reserved but no one was at them and it was very empty inside. We were told that it was a $150 minimum to use a table. So there were no places to put our hookah so we didn't get one. If I could give zero stars I would. Went for a football game last night because they advertised it on their instagram. I get there and the game isn't even on their huge tv, a playoff game isn't on their huge tv. Not only that, the audio wasn't even playing. A manager then told us the game would be easier to watch outside because later the inside turns into a night club, fine. We get outside and it's freezing cold, the heaters didn't come on until half time of the game. The audio of the game still wasn't on. The service is slow and terrible, the hookah is way over priced for how weak it is, and the drinks are over priced to taste like juice. Parking is terrible after about 10:30. Almost forgot for the food they add their own gratuity! There was only two of us on one bill and they added their own gratuity. HOMOPHOBIC HOMOS! I arrived to the place to see Nicole Moudaber on June 6th with group of friends and got in the line to enter. The woman at the door took my ID and rude hispanic security started searching my purse. He passed me to get searched deeper to the other hispanic security and he tried to touch my genital area and i got shocked at the moment, did not let them abuse me. I got out of the line to understand what kind of facility is this and tried to get in one more time. They treated me like a s*it and threatened me to beat me up if I don't go away even though I had ticket for the event. They showed the nail polish remover as a reason to ban me from the venue but the real reason was I did not let them touch and feel my genital area. This is completely unacceptable and tried to talk to spanish with me even though I told them I DO NOT speak spanish. Assumption because of my skin color. This wasn't my first time there and saw too many horrible incidents inside last time when i was there but unfortunately listened my friends and went back to this sht hole. They deeply and illegally search people at the door to be able to sell drugs inside and make profit. The server/or bottle girl was supposed to serve us wouldnt stop harassing us about the table and demanding we buy bottles all though i explained priorto being seated that we were driving no bottles.. When we asked for the food that came with our admission she continued to ask us to move stated it was mandatory refused ti serve us. The vibes at barcode was decent. As someone previously said, the layout is nice.. lots of open space, pool table, bowling lanes, huge patio with sizable bars both inside and outside. I came here to support an event and was impressed with everything except the attitude of one female bartender. Even thought about hosting some company events here. After the event was over, my friends and I went inside ordered food and drinks and within an hour or so an announcement was made stating those who did not meet the dress code would have to leave at xyz time. Now thats fair enough.... however when you are with a group and they are in the middle of eating/drinking.... you would think things would be ok until you were all done. My friend had a security guard tell her that she had to leave because of her flip flops... so I went to one of the supervisors who said don't worry about it finish up and then we could leave. Again... fair enough. So while we are sitting there we see the same security guard speaking to our bartender looking at us... asking if we paid already and whatever else. So i told him i get its his job but he really needed to chill out, and that we were already told we could stay til we were done. At this point it was aggravating because he was being like a hawk watching the girl in our group. It even got as far as him brining us a to go box for our food. When i asked him to speak to his supervisor, i was told i didnt need to speak to him/her. So i went and found the manager of the establishment and explained how unprofessional this was. Even as I'm speaking to her.... he is sitting there chiming in saying how I'm lying.... which pissed me off and resulted in me getting loud and explaining how i was speaking to his supervisor and not him. To wrap this story up.... i DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE.... your employees are a reflection of your establishment.... Big TV in the center for El Classico. Good tasting picada. Here is what is NOT ok. Ordering a pitcher of blue moon which gives you 3 cups. Finding out when the bill comes that a pitcher of blue moon is $25. Then asking the bartender how much a glass of blue moon is and being told its $5. Three blue moons individually equals $15 but a pitcher of blue moon which also gives you 3 cups is $25. How is that good business? We ordered three pitchers which means in total we lost $30 by ordering pitchers instead of individual glasses. Bad business. Bad practices. Not worth recommending. read more

This place is lit. I've been here more than 10 times since it's been open, both on weekends and weekdays. First, lets go through with the basics.. The Food: Their OMG wings are probably the best wings I've ever tasted. The wings are my go-to order every time I come here. As far as other options on the menu, they will have your typical bar food. Burgers, Mozzarella sticks, Quesadillas, Etc. next time I go I'll snap a picture of their menu. The food overall is great. The Staff: This one is a hit or miss. Most of the time I've been there, the waitress/waiter have been helpful and friendly. There are times though that I will get someone that looks uninterested, or just straight up forgets about our table. It's the weekends usually ; now, when I go here on the weekends I usually buy a bottle or two. Before 12am the service is excellent. You will be taken care of. After 12 the service gets spotty. Mind you, this is ordering a bottle. The cabanas in the patio towards the back I assume gets more attention since there is a four bottle requirement. Weekdays are great, there's someone always available to seat you and take care of you. it should be noted that gratuity is included in the check, so they don't have to "work" for their tip. The Atmosphere/Ambiance: If you've ever been to Lobby, which is also in Elizabeth, this is nothing like it. Sure, it's in Elizabeth, and sure sometimes you will encounter the same crowd, but there's something different about this place. The patio is huge, the patio is where it's at. It's where it sets itself apart from many other places. The mini bowling alley is a nice touch, even though only one lane works currently. Two pool tables are available as well. Overall the place is good. I see a lot of good nights in this place in the future. One more thing, the bar area gets pretty crazy. I've only experienced this once on the weekend, but I waited 20 minutes just to get a beer. The prices for drinks are like any other place in jersey it'll add up by the end of the night. The price for bottle service is a little high for this place but you gotta pay to play right. EDIT: after months of going to this place, there definitely have been some changes and I want to say that things have gotten better, but they haven't. Went here during the day to watch a football game and it was the worst experience! It was extremely loud and I had to yell at my waiter just to order my food. They had the volume on blast as if they forgot during the day it's not a club. Even asked to turn it down just a little and the manager didn't care. The food was disgusting. The fries were packed with oil, their dulce de leche had no flavor. Also ordered coconut shrimp and this as well had no flavor and it was drenched in oil. The sauce was supposed to be a coconut cream sauce which turned out to be WATER with coconut flakes. I've been to a lot of sport bars and this my friends is NOT worth your time. First off, shady dark entry on the side; full pat down; $20 entry fee for guys; mandatory $3 coat check; vapes get taken away and placed in a non secured box (kiss that vape goodbye); while buying drinks you must have a minimum $50 tab if using credit card and you are only able to use the same bartender that took care of you regardless of how busy they are. The other bartenders will not serve you unless you open another $50 minimum tab or just pay cash (ridiculous)! Drinks sizes can be compared to a spit plastic cup you get at a dentist office full of ice. Bottom line service sucks! This place just sucks up your money! Gave this place countless times to improve and impress but Cinco De Mayo was the last I could take. The $20 cover charge is already enough as it is, but being told that it was bumped up to $50 at the door was egregious to say the very least. I'm definitely not one to pull the race card to try and guilt other races to empathize with me, but I do feel an aura of discrimination when I'm there that I've tried ignoring for far too long. I've sat at the bar once for over an hour with no bartenders coming up to me asking for service. An Asian guy sitting right next to me immediately gets attended to and orders a meal and is already half way finished and still no service. Had to flag down a bartender (even after making eye contact for the longest while). Other times I briefly sat at a table for a waitress to tell me it was $250 to sit at the table. When I got up she put a "reserved" sign on the table, and throughout the night I saw several different groups sitting at that table with no confrontation. Never in my life would I feel more welcome and included at a Goth bar than I would at a Latin club. Heed my words and seek elsewhere! Edit: Forgot to mention how unsavory the area this place is located in as well. I usually park underneath the bridge and you see a lot of homeless people and junkies around. While sitting in my car waiting for the club I witnessed a homeless lady go behind my car and start squatting and pissing between cars. Another time I got out at around 2:45-3:00 AM walking to my car and some homeless dude comes up to my window offering to clean my windows for spare change. And it doesn't end there, whilst waiting in line during the ArcAngel concert I kept hearing a sniffing sound behind my back. Dear Barcode Management Team, I wanted to extend my gratitude to barcode and my bartender Jenny whom I had when I recently visited the location. I have been in the nightlife scene now for many years and have experienced exceptional to dissatisfying service throughout my lifetime. Jenny is the hallmark example of what a server should be and others should look up to. Never once was I passed upon while I was looking for another drink, rather I was asked before my drink was done if I was OK or if I needed anything else. That was very impressive due to how many people that she was serving throughout the night. To have someone that gives out positive energy as she does in an environment that can be easily deterred shows that she not only takes her job seriously but enjoys what she is doing.
