I made reservations online for a party of 6 and requested our seating be in a secluded area. When we arrive our section was ready and my requests were made. Very pleasantly surprised as it was a very busy night. The attire is casual or business casual. Very lively on a Friday night with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The tapas were portioned really well. The best tapas from our group were the salmon, potatoes, mussels and chicken. We all had the paella. The vegetarian was pretty good and the meat options was okay (tomato based) but the winner was the seafood paella. It's nice that they have a vegetarian option and you also add on items to the paella. We were celebrating my husband's birthday who is a vegetarian and they had several options to meet our dietary restrictions (I'm pescatarian). The drinks were good and the food was great! Started off with the Crispy Calamari and loved it. Ordered the House Marinated Olives .. excellent. The Jamon and Manchego Croquetas were perfect. I stopped by Barcelona Reston after a day of hiking. I'm glad I was able to get reservations on a Sat evening as the place filled up very quickly and walkins had an hour wait. There was a nice patio seating area in front of the restaurant. They followed covid rules - masks and tables were well spaced. The staff was very friendly and service was quick. Drinks (Sangria and Guns and Roses) were good. The tapas were all excellent! The shrimp dish and octopus dish were both good. I had expected the shishito peppers to be spicy but they weren't spicy at all, reminds me of roasted bell peppers and packed with flavor! The coquettes were crispy on the outside and smooth and creamy inside, similar to a mac n cheese ball but without the pasta. We've had dinner here twice, both times during a weeknight. Service was always great, with staff helping us with the expansive menu. I love wine but was intimidated by the thick book of wines. But they also had a simpler version of choices on the back of the food menu that made chosing easier. We were lucky that both time we dined there, outdoor seating was available. Had we been required to eat inside, I don't think I would ever return. I mentioned earlier we were there both times during the week. This place does great business, as they deserve. But the noise level inside makes it almost uninhabitable. At the very least if you wanted to enjoy the company of your dining companions, you'd be out of luck. So my missing star is for the noise level. If that doesn't bother you (and I read a bunch of reviews and saw no mention of this problem) then you are good, and in for a delightful dinner. read more

Came here on a warm Friday evening and the place was poppin'. Would definitely recommend a reservation if coming during peak dinner hours Friday or the weekend. Even with a reservation, we waited about 10~15 minutes before getting a table. The sangria is INCREDIBLE. Get the red. Not too alcoholic or too sweet. Had the perfect fruitiness to it. Was lowkey considering getting another one haha. Between the two of us, we ordered Butternut Squash: This was served in a little ceramic bowl and was somewhat warm. I was super excited for this dish so was a bit disappointed to find that the flavors were fairly muted. The dish needed more seasoning. The butternut squash was also unevenly cooked. Some bits were hard and undercooked while others were overcooked into stringy mush. The ricotta underneath also needed more flavor. Mushrooms: the mushrooms were okay. They tasted pretty standard sauteed with a chew and some garlickyness. Served warm in a ceramic dish. Grilled Salmon: the salmon was INCREDIBLE. The fish was perfectly medium rare and super moist. Portion was definitely small but the portion that was there was really good. The arugula and red onion side complemented the fish. Grilled Octopus: the grilled octopus was also another favorite. The octopus was grilled perfectly and super meaty and tender. It had the right amount of char and flavor. The chickpea salad was also really great with it, although I was surprised the find that the chickpeas were chilled. I expected it to be warm Albondigas: the meatballs were okay. I thought they tasted a bit underseasoned and I didn't love that they tasted a bit mushy. The tomato sauce that accompanied it could have also used a bit more spices and tasted lukewarm. The complimentary bread went well with the sauce, and was probably one of the highlights of the meal. Service was super sweet. Elliot checked up on us often and apologized for the wait being long between dishes (totally not his fault!) Honestly would be back just for how good the service was. read more

Always amazing and there is something for everyone! Try all the cheeses and definitely the white sangria or the guns and rosés! When I say that every single thing we ate on their menu was DELECTABLE, it would be an understatement. We got the chroizo picante cheese, half price a bottle of wine on Monday nights, three tapas including the croquetas, tuna tartar, and spiced beef empanadas, as well as their paella salvaje. Spanish style restaurant with small plates (tapas) and large plates (paella). The tapas are DELICIOUS! There isn't a bad choice. We got so many I forgot to take pictures of them. The paella were good, but liked the tapas more. I could easily just fill up on tapas. Be sure to scrape the bottom of the pan of the paella to get the most flavorful and crispy bits of rice. Also got a pitcher of white sangria and it was so good! I usually don't like white wine, but this was a subtle white wine. I would 100% come back and recommend to all my friends! read more

Nice Place. Good Food. Precious wanted to go to Spain. We went to a couple of places, and by the time we got to Barcelona we were already talking about moving there. We enjoyed our time, and we especially enjoyed the food. This restaurant has some of the foods that one will find in Barcelona. Their menu has several dozen tapas, salads and cheeses to choose from. You won't be able to sample them all. I recommend the apertivo board because it has samples of a few dishes like patatas bravas. Two of the main dishes are what Catalonia is known for, the paella and the Mediterranean Sea Bass. I didn't try the paella. We can make paella better than they can. I don't doubt it. But Precious liked the Mediterranean Sea Bass. All in all, the food was a good effort, but it's not nearly as good as any of the small bars and restaurants on Diagonal in Barcelona. I know it's a high bar, perhaps unreasonably high, but I just walked outta there disappointed. And they didn't have Spanish beer. Estrella Damm or Mahou. Nothin'. I was not disappointed with the ambience and service. They have outdoor seating, and in the afternoon their outdoor seating is in the shade. We went there on a nice day and were very comfortable. We had great waiters. The first time we had this young man Ryland (?). I think that was his name. Precious mentioned that she is gluten intolerant, and he took the menu and wrote on it identifying all the items that are gluten free and all the items that they could modify. He knew the menu so well, and Precious appreciated that he took the time to do that. read more

My experience ranged from three stars to five stars but landed a solid four stars. The customer service saved themselves. Not in their control but having to pay for parking Saturday night was a pain especially thinking it's a small mini town city outside of bustling DC. Anyways...here's the lowdown: Had reservations and called to let them know we were running 10 minutes late but they were understanding. The wait ended up being about half an hour and I was hungry so I was just getting a bit hangry (-1 star). At one point (my good guess) is the manager got us two mini glasses of sangria. My happy meter went up (+1 star, back to neutral state). Quickly ordered and would highly suggest the whipped sheep cheese. It was soooo good and I can't wait to go back for more. The bread that comes with the tapas (whipped cheese and mussels) actually was a little over charred and had that burnt taste - but the free bread that comes with the food was warm and tasted delicious and they even filled out basket with more bread!! I was disappointed how TINY the steak pieces came out to be. Ordered two portions that ended up well over $20 and I realized should've ordered an actual steak but my boyfriend liked the way this was cooked with the sauce. I understand inflation was real but the portion size wasn't justified since the pieces were also cut very thin. The portion size for the pork belly was also the same. I was content with the mussels and potatoes and pitcher of sangria was also worth it - so net out with no loss or gain of stars since everything's tasty! The downside to the meal was dessert. The cheesecake was SO salty for some reason - usually I'm not one to ask for food to be taken back but it made me concerned that they may have accidentally swapped sugar and salt since that happens sometimes. The manager came over to speak to us and was super pleasant. Offered to switch out dessert but we were pretty full by then. Got the check and happy to see the dessert wasn't billed. Honestly the customer service won me over at Barcelonas. I've been to this franchise in another state and overall super happy with this one. Will go again if given the opportunity! Always a great experience at Barcelona wine bar! I've been to the one in DC and love it. This place gets packed during the weekends so prepare and make a reservation. If your party is small, wait times may be bearable but if you have a lot of people, definitely make a reservation. Always love their paella paired with sangria! My husband and I came for a date night yesterday~ First impressions: - cute decor - loud music - a bit crowded (probably because our reservations were right after a holiday party/happy hour) Our order: - red sangria - patatas bravas - jamón and manchego croquettas - gambas al ajillo - parillada Barcelona (large plate) One of my favorite sangrias. Not too heavy and not overly sweet. I also loved the croquettas (4 pieces) and my husband loved the gambas al ajillo (4-5 pieces of shrimp). The patatas bravas had a larger portion size than the other two tapas that we ordered. We also enjoyed half size portion of the parillada Barcelona. Since it was a large plate it did take 30 mins to come out, but the server told us ahead of time that all large plates would take about 30-45 mins to prepare. This continues to be one of the main reasons why I come to Reston Town Center these days. The food here is fantastic and always pretty consistent! I'm a big fan of paella and have tried both the seafood and meat ones. I would absolutely recommend both!! The thing I love most about this place is that their portions are pretty big. I am always full and satsified when I leave here. At my most recent visit, I ordered the whole branzino, and it was well-cooked and flavored. I also really enjoyed the side of watercress that it came with. Prices are reasonable for the amount of food you get. The reason why I'm knocking this one down a star is because I always make reservations on their website before coming and there have been a couple of times we didn't get seated timely. Earlier this month, I had an exemplary meal at Barcelona. I was pleasantly surprised by the relatively affordable prices and super impressed with the quality and flavor of all the dishes we ordered. Our server was so nice and helpful. He and others who took care of us also struck the right balance between being attentive and not intrusive. This restaurant also seemed family-friendly, which is always a plus for this mom of one. To be able to dine in such a trendy space and enjoy a sophisticated meal with child or children is an amazing thing. We ordered the octopus, this sheep's milk cheese dish (to die for!), one or two other small plates, and this shareble duck atop pan fried pasta. The pasta was crispy on the edges and bottom--delectable. I love their extensive and luxurious feeling menu, and I cannot wait to be back to try more tapas and entrées. read more

I came back in November 2022 with my parents after I told them how great the food was at this restaurant for my mom's birthday. It seems that things have downgraded. I don't know if there's been a change in the kitchen or quality of ingredients, but the food was mediocre compared to what it was before. Things were barely seasoned or oily or burned. Portions seemed even smaller. The service was slow and there was a wait even with a reservation. We tried the seafood paella and the bottom was completely burned. The seafood was good, but we really only had a few bites due to the burned rice. The flan dessert tasted like plastic. I'm wondering if it's just store bought as it barely had any flavor besides the plastic taste. I gave 3 stars as the dessert was complimentary and the server tried her best. I been going to Barcelona for a while and it's been amazing service at the bar. However, tonight the young lady working at the bar she seemed upset or something and seemed off. She would be making the drinks for the customers but it was like she was angry making them. I felt the vibe wasn't good. Anyways, she was making a drink for someone and she smashed the syrup bottle in front of me and got the glass on my arm and probably some of the red syrup on my shirt , but I was wearing a black shirt so i guess it won't show. For the management, know your employees, if they are having a bad day then send them home, there should be no reason for them to be working if they are upset or angry which would cause an accident like tonight. Imagine if the glass got in my eyes, then what?? An apology would not be enough. Definitely wasn't a good vibe. read more
