Having been impressed by the new Manchester Arndale branch of Barburrito, I decided to visit this branch here at Deansgate, the second branch to open out of the three which currently operate in Manchester city centre, it is probably one of the smaller stores and is basically right next to Subway, of which there are many similarities to between both brands, with Barburrito basically being a Mexican subway serving burritos and tachos rather than your typical cold and toasted sandwiches, you'd find at Subway next store.
The menu here, like at the Piccadilly Gardens branch doesn't seem to be as well explained as other stores such as the Manchester Arndale branch, so Barburitto newcomers could be slightly confused, between a burrito perhaps and a naked burrito, the latter is basically a burrito bowl, which isn't served with the burrito wrap, making it suitable for those who avoid gluten, it must be noted however that a lot of items here are a "may contain" rather than fully gluten-free, mainly down to the chance of cross-contamination which you can expect from a place like this.
Food price is average at around £7 for a burrito, but this can be slightly cheaper if you're a student as they offer a very impressive 20% student discount if you have an NUS Extra / Totum Card or UniDays etc.
The service here seemed really poor, the staff didn't seem friendly at all and uninterested, which was once again a total difference and disappointing shock to me compared to the Arndale branch.
The store is also accessed through a slight step, which makes it difficult to access with wheelchairs and buggies etc, especially motorised ones. The store also doesn't seem to have a ramp - which is also a shame.
Slightly limited and more uncomfortable seating when compared to other branches too - a real shame that this store has an overall poor vibe in most factors, including overall feel and service so I sadly feel Barburrito on Deansgate deserves a single one-star rating - as regular readers will know I always find it a shame to mark a milestone review (200th in 2018) with a negative tone, but I am not afraid to do if a business truly deserves it, which in this case Deansgate's branch of Barburrito sadly does. read more
