Tasty food. Good service. Good atmosphere in the building and the service workers are kind.

Nando's at Middlebrook Retail Park is a pretty large branch serving halal chicken only. I consider myself a Nando's regular, so I was looking forward to finding out how this branch compared as one thing I've found with Nando's is their branches and food tends to either be excellent or terrible and it is rare that a branch is in-between. On a personal note, this ended up being my final review of 2019 and was #937 for my yearly total and #2973 since joining Yelp in April 2014. Firstly, the store was rather busy so there was a short wait for a table before I came in, the waiting area wasn't too nice as it was in a small drafty porch with no staff on hand to greet you straight away or even nearby, which as you don't directly walk straight into the restauraunt would have been nice. One thing I noticed straight away was the high amount of staff in the store and most of them were students, I've never seen so many young people working in one place at once, there probably wasn't a single staff member over 25 which is an interesting observation. I liked how the store had two small stands with water and fizzy drink machine as well as some sauces and cutterly, this is especially needed in such a large store and made it easier. When my food came originally, it was drowned in sauce, when I had to pick it up to put it on my side plate to send it back to the kitchen (as it was cold), the sauce just seemed to drip everywhere and even the plate underneath the chicken was covered, it was sliding and rather unpleasant. My chicken which was originally served cold was returned to me back as a new piece in a few minutes, it still had slightly too much sauce and I also didn't like how they wouldn't put my sides under a hot plate or something similar to keep it cold, as obviously I ordered sides to go with my food, not as a starter. A large Nando's store which was almost full - they had so many staff on that even being almost full shouldn't have affected them but sadly it seemed like it did with the food and waiting time seems to be much worse than other branches, I also don't like the fact they serve halal chicken either and don't even offer regular chicken (I understand some people need halal but why not offer both?). 2* read more

Once upon a time on a drive back from Blackpool to Manchester the stomach hath rumbled once more and I decided to take the next junction to see how destiny would treat mine hunger. The arrow of fortune pointed towards a place known as Horwich, a Lancastrian parish village I once frequented for cricketing purposes in years gone yonder. The towering structure that is Bolton's Reebok stadium greeted the gaze as I homed in on my target of Middlebrook retail park. After a quick drive around the car park having spotted the bright red neon signs, Nandos was always going to come out on top on this occasion. Nothing satisfies my hunger game urges more than some spicy grilled chicken. Now the race was on to see where this particular Nandos ranked amongst others I have frequented all over this lovely island of ours. After informing the smiling waitress that I had in fact been to Nandos before (I always refrain from making any silly remarks at this point as I'm sure they've heard them all) We proceeded to our lovely booth after a very respectable wait of 15 minutes. Now I won't go into the whole the food was great malarky as we all know Nandos delivers more often than not, by the way, it did. No, let's talk about the service and decor. I'll start with the latter. A well designed decor always scores a maximum with me. The furniture, the lighting, the layout et al are all very important, and thankfully they were all taken care of here. The restaurant was very spacious with lots of seating for people waiting to be tabled. The lighting was relaxing and not annoyingly bright and the music was impeccable as always. Now lets talk about he service. Arguably the best I've ever experienced is the answer. As simple as that. There is always a little incident here and there which leaves a sour taste in your mouth when visiting a new establishment. No such hoopla here, we were consistently and politely asked if we needed anything, and when we did our side orders were dealt with in the most timely and polite manner possible. Not only did I leave the place well nourished, but also with a smile having had a very pleasant overall experience. So if you ever are on that long drive down or up the M61 with a rumble in the tummy jungle, remember remember the sixth junction and Nandos. I did, and it was Nandosplendid!! read more

What can I say about Nandos? Well, I've been eating at Nandos restaurants since my first year of University and the experience has always been a positive one. It isn't a fast food place - yet it isn't quite a restaurant, It's very much in the middle. They operate counter service and take your food and drink orders at the till, where they pass you an empty glass, if you opt for a soft drink, for you to fill yourself (and re-fill as many times as you want). You're also responsible for grabbing your own cutlery, napkins and sauces before your food is brought to your table. The food is always great. It's Peri Peri Chicken, how can it not be?! There are many options on the menu - chicken fillet burgers, pittas, wraps, chicken salads, full chickens, half and quarter chickens and I can keep going. They basically do chicken any way you want it and make it as mild or as hot as you want it. Beware - the black XXX HOT sauce is HOTTTTT! It's pretty good value for money and I'm a fan. I don't eat here as often as I used to, but it's always fun and relaxed and the food is always good. read more

May seem bit of a pointless review as a 'cheeky nandos' seems to be the hang over food of everyone who's ever lived.. But just incase you've not been, I'll proceed.. Does what it says on the tin basically, if you like chicken, great.. If not I wouldn't bother. Always tell myself I'll get something different but I somehow always end up with butterfly chicken, might occasionally mix it up a bit with a different side if I'm feeling extra cheeky Decent enough food, pretty cheap for a meal, 12 pounds or so (if you get the above), including a refillable drink. Now everyone always seems to get the chicken cooked in a hot sauce, but given that you can go pick the same sauce it's been cooked in and use as much as you want, IMO seems a bit silly.. Go for the mango and lime (they don't have this a sauce you can go and grab) a lot more flavour and then use your medium/hot/garlic sauce whatever you fancy for additional flavour. Moral of the story, yeah it's decent for a quick lunch/tea but I wouldn't get excited about it read more

Let me start by saying that I have never really been a fan of Nando's, although I know many people who swear by it. For me I just always saw it as chicken and chips, there is nothing wrong with that but it just never excited me. Recently however I have been converted by a fellow yelper(at least to a certain extent). I found that I did really enjoy the chicken wrap and the peri peri fries, I won't be going everyday but I have now found that they do something I like so I can definitely see myself eating here a little more regularly. read more

You know what you're getting with Nando's, which I guess could be good or bad depending on your opinion on chain restaurants - however I'm always left satisfied with my food! I usually always go for Butterfly Chicken Breast and pair it with some Peri Peri Chips and Creamy Mash. If you add some Halloumi cheese and a bottomless soft drink it'll bring to about £12 - not bad these days! If I'd written this review a year ago, I'd have given it 5 stars and told you Nando's is the best (and cheekiest) thing since sliced bread, however having had my eyes and belly opened to Manchester's thriving food scene, I can't put this in the same bracket. Nando's reminds me of El Pollo Loco... mmmmm. There is something about grilled chicken that is comforting... and makes you want to pick it up with your hands and eat it off the bone! To this day, my mom still asks about the Perinaise sauce :) On our first visit to this Nando's it was super busy! It took quite some time to get through the line and order and the queue was nearly out the door. The entrance area is a little tight when the place is busy because the queue for the counter ends up going toward the door. The soda fountain is also in that area so it tends to get quite cozy! The staff are pretty friendly and seem to be doing the best they can when it gets busy, so no complaints there. Mr. Snarky didn't get my order quite right so I ended up trying out their Mango Lime Sauce. It wasn't bad, but I probably wouldn't order it again. The problem was that part of my chicken wasn't cooked all the way through. It was a bummer, but because they were so busy, I didn't think I could get another piece of chicken in a short time. I do love their coleslaw though... I don't know what it is about it, but it is good! On the second visit, I ended up getting a similar order to the first time, but with the medium sauce. I constantly forget that you have to order the Perinaise sauce and it costs extra... so I always miss out on that for my fries. I do like that the other sauces are available at different stations around the restaurant so if you don't have quite enough sauce on your chicken, you can add some! 3 stars on this occasion. Although I will start by saying that I'm a regular visitor of this particular Nandos and I usually don't have any problems. On this occasion however, it wasn't as great. A group of four of us went on Saturday night at around 8.45pm and, as could be expected we waited around 15-20 minutes for a table. This is completely understandable given the date and time and I have no issues with this. We got to our table and had a chat, ended up ordering at about 9.20 and waited around 30 minutes for our food. About 2 minutes before our food arrived, a waitress came to tell us that there was only one portion of the sweet potato wedges left and not the two we ordered, whilst their lack of stock was disappointing they did offer alternatives. Another issue was that there was no knives and forks for around 30 minutes, luckily as they brought our food out, fresh ones appeared from the kitchen. This may seem minor, but it just have off the impression that on this occasion they were unorganised and possibly short on staff. Fair's fair, not a great review on this occasion and I'm a regular visitor of this branch, so if I am happier on my next visit, I'll provide another review. read more

Nandos is one chain I am happy to go to. This one is the site at the retail park near Bolton Wanderers stadium and was heaving due to the Christmas sales. Despite the long queue for a table and the packed waiting area for take away orders we only waited a few minutes for a table. The hostess organising the waiting list was really friendly and helpful, and left us with menus while we waited so we could order straight away once we had a table (not that I needed to see the menu to know what I wanted, I am addicted to their chicken burgers). It's the standard Nandos interior and layout, nothing different to any other site. Clean and tidy with good staff and the food arrived quickly and was hot and well cooked. This is my favourite restaurant. Not only is the food great but the atmosphere is fantastic. The last time I went there, Amir Khan was also eating. If it's good enough for him, it's certainly good enough for me! The service is very very quick. We have sometimes been served our main whilst still eating our appetisers. You pay before you eat, which means you are not waiting for your bill at the end. They encourage you to eat with your fingers but they do have cutlery available. It is a very relaxed experience. I must also point out the Dyson hand dryers in the loos!! Great fun!! haha read more

I do love a "cheeky" Nandos although now everyone's started to call it cheeky it became un original so we've had to change it to "naughty" Nandos. If your looking for somewhere cheap and family friendly Nandos is great, prompt service, free refills and decent food. This is a great restaurant chain with it's own original style. The cuisine is Portuguese and the speciality is it's flame grilled peri-peri chicken dishes, where you chose how spicy you want your food. The atmosphere is relaxed and informal but vibrant. Once you've been seated you then order your food from the till. They serve re-fillable soft drinks which are great (especially if you've gone for one of the hotter sauces!) . They also do take away food, but they don't deliver, which is great if you live near one. I would recommend this restaurant and indeed the whole chain. Nandos is an amazing chain that comes from South Africa. It seRves porgageuse style food inpired by settlers in south africa and so the food has other influence too. Cant go wrong at Nandos, it is great value and great food. you know what you are going to get and they are always efficient at getting people seated and served. The bottomlessfrozen yogurt is really nice and fat free! read more

Was pleasantly surprised after my first visit, good food, good value and a big hit with the kids that makes going out a whole lot easier!
