Ty Barber built my office, collected his payments and left my office with many issues that he never came back to fix. It was excuse after excuse as to why he cant fix his bad work, Ty Barber then decided to completely not stand by his work all together. I was left with having to pay a lot of money to have his work redone/repaired. I dont know why he has these good reviews. I doubt they are legitimate. If you notice, all these positive reviews are very very recent...and I noticed that there has been a few bad reviews that now no longer appear on is listing. Very interesting. If you're even thinking about using Ty Barber, please think twice. This person makes a lot of false promises but will not stand by his work. Even his own crew has bad things to say about him. So Ty's team finished up my office around 6 months ago. Here's my update. My project had a lot of hiccups and took a lot of time but I'm so proud of the job these guys did. Ty's guys are pretty stand up guys and know what they are doing. Working with contractors has got to be the scariest thing I've ever done cause I was always under the impression contractors will rip you off. Once I knew I could trust these guys fully, I just let them go to town. They even forgot to do something for me after I had paid them fully and Ty sent his guys back to finish the job. I don't know if most contractors would have done that. Once they've been paid, you're off on your own. I miss his workers, Jose, Napoleon, Daniel and so on. Barber construction completed a difficult project for me in San Francisco. They came in with the best price and kept to that price. I had expected to see a bunch of change orders and increased pricing nonsense, but was pleasantly surprised as Barber Construction stuck to there bid. Ty is a talker and that is all he is. He cut corners where you can't see, and lies about what is needed. He says he has crew to do all the work and won't subcontract out, all lies. He subcontractors wont finish work because he didn't pay them. His friend who does cabinet work quit my project in midway because of issues with him. He didn't finish my project and is always short on money and asking for money early. Don't trust this contractor unless you want to find a lot of headaches later down the line that was out of sight. All plumbing problems!! cold water tapped from hot water tank supply, so when you have hot water heater issue, you will have to shut off your cold water along with it. Drains not done, leading to flooding!!! At which point you can't reach him. He won't return calls, but when he needs money, he is all over you. read more

We worked with Ty for 5 months to construct our dental office. He gave us a good estimate of the amount of time it would take to convert our office space. He forsaw a possible problem with drainage that we didn't know about until we started construction. Our dental office has 2 bathrooms and 2 sinks in all 6 operatories, and a washing machine - we did not want there to be a problem, so we made the main drain system larger at his suggestion. We are thankful that he was concerned more about our office and didn't just following the plans. read more

Barber Construction built my first dental office 10 years ago and they did a wonderful job. The materials used, from the faucets, sinks to the tiles were all top quality that up to now, are all in good working condition and still look as if they were brand new. I got comments from patients saying that the office looked beautiful and was well built. For 10 years, the only thing that needed changing were our light bulbs, and they would even come to the office to change that for us. I have now moved to a new location. Highly recommend Barber Construction, After Kohan my architect completed the design of my dental office , very quickly I found out that there is only only few contractors in area that are capable of pulling off the amount of detail in the project. I decided go with Ty after speaking to a friend who also had used Ty,, and I am so glad I did decide to hire him as my contractor. They finished the job on time , on budget , no change order even when we did minor changes. Ty was always available during the project easy to work with. At the end of the project my architect gave him an extensive punch list which he completed every single item. over all very satisfied with the job completed. If no star can be selected I will have to give that. Will not recommend this contractor to any one especially his electrical work was shoddy. More than 10 of the outlets were loose before we even started to use them. The biggest issue is that whenever we used the HVAC system it would start tripping the breaker in the electrical room. Several times we had to reschedule my patients because this issue. Mr. Barber refused to come and argue that was not his fault. We had to hire other contractors to check and repair the system. Several licensed electrician have checked the electrical system and all of them pointed to one single problem: Mr. Barber did not do the electrical panel according to our blue print. Never had a schedule for his work. he promised to finish my project in three months. The result is until today we have not got the final permit. It had been more than a year. Did a big damage in the building! Multiple phone calls and emails tried to get him back to repair it. Again, refuse to come. He supposed to pay his subcontractors however he did not. Several of his subcontractors came to my office for money and threatened to place a lien on my property. The truth is Mr. Barber always asked money before his work and we had already way overpaid him. We never had a contract with his subcontractor and all money went to Mr. Barber only. One of my friend used him for his dental office too and have had other problems. Regret using him and not reading the first review. Not recommend! read more

The purpose of this review is to warn consumers about the poor workmanship and outrageous customer service this general constriction business is providing. One star is the lowest rating available on Yelp; minus 5 stars would be the accurate rating. We hired Barber Construction almost one year ago to coordinate the tenant improvement project of our new dental office in Santa Rosa , California.. At the beginning of the project, Ty Barber Construction guaranteed us that it'll take about 5 months to complete the project. We are approaching one year now of construction and still didn't pass the final inspection! The first inspection we had 8 issues to correct and the second inspection we had over 16 issues to correct. Neither of the two inspections Ty Barber was present. He assigned the embarrassment to someone else. We experienced the all spectrum of negligence from delay on submitting plans to the city and ignoring recommendations from inspectors to lying about passing scheduled inspections which caused more delays and reprimand from the inspectors. The lack of communication with his architect created plan design that didn't fit our expectations and recommendations. How can someone who is bragging about building hundreds of dental offices forgot to mention to his architect to draw an amalgam separator! The indifference to communicate with other sub contractors created hardship execution and additional costs. Ty Barber construction arrogantly express that they strive to produce best quality dental offices when the materials grade is cheap and the labor unqualified except maybe for the electrician. The list of poor workmanship issues can go on and on. That being said, Ty Barber Constriction is very efficient in blaming other sub contractors for his mistakes and demanding for his payments. NOTHING IS HIS FAULT We are still living the Ty Barber Construction nightmare...! I invite customers who had bad experience with this business to contact the California Contractors State License Board to file a complaint and of course reviewing on Yelp. I worked with Ty for build out of my first practice in San Ramon. He came highly recommended and after meeting with a few contractors, I can understand why. After the completion, I can vouch to the fact that there were no change orders and the result did look beautiful! It still does after 5 years and I have to thank him for that. It was a huge undertaking but my experience with all of them was exceptional. Ty has always stood by his work and even now in 2018, he helped me with an electrical issue that was brought up by Pleasanton/Livermore Fire Department. He immediately responded to my call and promptly had his main electrician come over to my office the following week. They scheduled and added dedicated outlets for my office as required by the Fire Department. I was just happy to have someone I trusted help me with this issue and then he didn't even charge me! My architect had a very intricate design that required expert craftsmanship and attention to details by the general contractor. Not only Ty and his team finished the project on-time and on-budget, the work was very high quality. When there were unexpected issues, Ty and his team were very good at quickly communicating, conflict resolution (with other stakeholders) and pushed for problem solving rather than pointing fingers. We built a very technically and esthetically difficult dental office after complete demo of the previous office.
