This place is clean, which is very important for me. Barbacoa Lamb is delicious. Took a pound "to go"-this is how good was it. Menudo is good, ingredients were fresh. Open kitchen. Was really impressed how polite and friendly staff was. Will definitely go back.

As you roll down Hawn Freeway (Hwy 175) by Rochester Park, you'll think, "What a wonderful place to dump a body." Exit at Lake June (west), go about a block, and hang a right down into a crappy lane filled with garages and body shops. The restaurant is a cinder block building (a former auto shop) with a rollup garage door on one end of the dining room. Sit down (picnic table seating) and talk with one of the personable waitresses because there aren't any menus. You want their signature roasted lamb tacos ($2) and a bowl of the terrific white bean soup ($6). The soup is muy especial because it has chunks of lamb in it and the beans were cooked while collecting drippings from the lamb as it was roasted at the wood fire. You can order individual tacos. Or, get meat by the pound brought out in a covered chafing dish. Either way, you get all the usual accompaniments (chopped onions & cilantro, limes, red & green sauces). BYOB, but take along some go-cups, because they don't like having beer bottles, etc out on their tables. Decorum, decorum. IMPORTANT: 6 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday only

Si duda la mejor Barbacoa de DFW, en verdad me sentí como estuviera en el Borrego Viudo!!!!!

This is the real thing, The Barbacoa de Borrego and the consome!!! are a hidden GEM!!! it is same flavor as the one I used to ate in Hildalgo Mexico. The place is to take out, they give you salsa, tortillas, onion... everything you need to eat it at home, you will enjoy it.!!! The have some tables as well if you want to eat it right there but it won't be the nicest place, their customers are constructions are landscapers, so I don't know if it's the kind if place that you will take your family.

We arrived at 1pm on a Saturday we had to call before making the 30 mile trip to make sure that they were still serving barbacoa, on a previous occasion we came all the way to find out that they were out but it was on Sunday which is their busiest day, as another reviewer stated "early bird gets the worm". Although the outside of the place isn't inviting it's the classic whole in the wall place that will pleasantly surprise you. There can not be good barbacoa if you don't have a great conzome "broth" to pair it with, the conzome has to always be served very hot in temperature make sure to request for that when ordering. We started with a couple of handmade gorditas, bean and cheese and chicharron they were delicious specially with green salsa on them. Even though they were moderately busy as we arrived the service was prompt and supper courteous by Gaby she was always making sure that we were doing great. The meat is served on a chaffing dish that keeps it warm but also very moist the red salsa is very good for tacos and you get plenty of toppings. The place is clean but a little hot inside on semi hot day. We loved this joint and we will continue to come back again and again. As a side note they do now accept credit cards.

Recently moved to Frisco, TX from Los Angeles,CA. Been here for almost two months now and I've on the search for some good street tacos, like the ones they have all over Los Angeles. No luck yet. Today I woke up with a craving for consome and tacos de barbacoa. Went on line and found this place with a pretty decent score, but 45 min away. I thought..why not?! Let's give it a shot! Well, it was worth every minute of it!! This is by far, the best Mexican meal I've had in the Dallas area! Consome was very tasty, the tortillas hechas a mano and the barbacoa was excellent! NOTE: Menu prices listed on Yelp are not updated Their prices are higher than those on advertised menu. Small consome is $9, Large consome $15. Menudo is $18 for large Menudo (I think it's way too high for menudo), In Los Angeles, a bowl of consome is between $1.50 -$3.00 at the most. The service was great, the food was excellent, and the owner honored the advertised price for my meal. Bring cash! No debit or credit. I highly recommend it!!!

Menudo, just like at home! Fresh and hot! They use real Chile and not chili powder. They give you plenty fresh made tortillas! It's the spot

The goose in the garden drink is our favorite, however not on the menu any more. Isai and Kenia were helping us out all night and they were amazing! Accommodating, prompt, and great personalities! We love to leave friends with our servers, and it isn't hard to do with a staff such as that. Chips and salsa are always fresh, flavorful, and the perfect amount of spicy. We also had the chicken flautas, and they hit the spot! The Mexican candy shots are the best I've had. We can't wait for our next visit!

Could barely hear the person next to me because we were seated next to a party of 10+ people. It may have been best to reserve that area just for them and have us seated elsewhere but no biggie. I was celebrating my birthday here since I've heard great things about the food choices. I ordered shrimp tacos, my family got fajitas and it was pretty decent. Towards the end of dinner, our server was super attentive and brought out a shareable dessert. I believe it was a churro cheesecake which was delicious.

Here in Texas, chips and salsa are such a commonplace experience it's off-putting to pay for them. We ordered the guacamole and the chips and salsa come with it, so that was, I guess, better...but the guacamole was $16, so there's that. The salsa was tasty as was the guacamole, but again, for the portion it's really not worth it. We had the queso flameado, which was yummy and the flour tortillas are good! We split the sirloin and were underwhelmed. For a grilled meats place the steak was very under seasoned and wasn't giving us fresh hot grilled vibes. Meh at best, as were the rice and beans. We ordered elote as a side and it was really the best thing we ate. Service was friendly and efficient! Cocktails average $16ish. Again, for the prices we expected better.

We hung out comfortably and had a couple of drinks before heading out. The food is amazing!! Obviously every dish is meat based here and it's cooked to perfection. Seasoned deliciously and very tender. The garlic mashed potatoes were smooth and tasty. We also ordered Chicharrónes and guac. I'll admit I was very skeptical about The Chicharrónes because they're either cooked right or they're not. They got it down here. Everything was cooked exceptionally well and delicious. 10/10 recommend. Food and drinks are great!

Chris our server was very friendly and knowledgeable. He took his time walking us through the menu and explaining what made El Carlos Elegante so special. The drinks were perfect. My wife loved her Desert Flor while I thoroughly enjoyed my Modelo Micheleda. Her Surf and Turf one hitter was exceptional. I have to say my Crab Cake was just ok. It tasted a little pasty and very heavy on the bread. The Pulpo was absolutely amazing. Perfect texture and the sauce it was served almost had me licking the plate. The El Machete was incredible from its presentation, to the freshness of the corn tortilla, to the quality of the meat inside. Definitely recommend this. We really liked our Okra + Shishito course, we just wished it had more okra in it. The two things I loved about the Al Pastor was of course the sauce it was served on but the fact that I got to enjoy it like a steak. It was served sliced on a bias like flank steak. Typically Al Pastor is finely chopped and served in tacos and burritos, so this was a different eating experience for me. And of course it was delicious as well. We cannot wait to come back and try more of the menu.

That visit checked every box -- the food, service, ambiance, and overall hospitality were all exceptional. What really stood out to me then was the attention to detail. I had casually mentioned that one of my cocktails wasn't quite my taste, and Harry personally reached out afterward to say they'd gladly adjust it next time. That kind of thoughtful follow-up leaves a lasting impression and is exactly the sort of hospitality that elevates a restaurant experience. Unfortunately, this recent visit felt like a completely different restaurant. We decided to do a combination of à la carte dishes along with the Experience menu after being told this version would feature entirely off-menu items, which genuinely intrigued us since Ihad also done the Experience previously. At the start of dinner, we were asked about allergies and dietary restrictions. I clearly explained that I have a mango allergy and do not eat beef. Our server then asked whether I ate other meats, and I clarified yes -- and even specifically mentioned that if the machete dish was beef, please still include it because my friend could enjoy it and I really wanted her to try it. He confirmed it would be the sirloin version, so we happily agreed not to modify that course. So imagine our surprise when one of the first dishes arrived dressed with a mango vinaigrette. Thankfully, we barely caught him quietly mentioning "mango" as he set it down. We immediately looked at each other thinking, "Didn't we just discuss the allergy?" It was disappointing, but unfortunately also representative of the overall service throughout the evening. Our server seemed disengaged, inattentive, and often not fully listening. Empty glasses sat untouched, opportunities to order additional items were missed, and at one point we were simply handed the check without even being asked if we wanted anything else. We also ordered a bottle of sparkling wine and ended up pouring it ourselves for most of the evening because our glasses were rarely refilled. I completely understand not leaving the bottle tableside if walkway space is limited, but repeatedly needing to get up ourselves to retrieve it felt out of sync with the level of service one expects from a Michelin-recommended restaurant -- especially at this price point. Then came the machete dish. Instead of the sirloin version we specifically discussed, we received the vegetarian potato version. When the server asked how it looked, I politely explained that we were disappointed because he had specifically told us it would be the sirloin preparation. At minimum, I would have expected another protein substitution given the earlier conversation about what I could eat. I'm also still unclear whether the Experience menu was truly "off-menu" as described, since several dishes -- including the halibut -- appeared familiar. Had that been communicated differently, we likely would have skipped the Experience altogether and simply curated our own meal. At the end of the night, spending over $500 while pouring our own wine, nearly being served an allergen we explicitly disclosed, and receiving dishes different from what was promised made for a deeply disappointing experience -- especially after such a phenomenal first visit. It honestly felt sad more than anything because I know how wonderful this restaurant can be. I'm not sure what changed in the last five months, but the difference was significant.
