As someone who goes to Universal theme parks often enough, I understand certain things you buy inside are more for the "gimmick" factor than anything. For that reason, I usually tend to avoid liquor based drinks because they're usually on the light side with a very mixer-forward pour. However, this little bar tucked away in Harry Potter world serves a drink that's well worth your time & money. While they offer draft & canned beer, wine & non alcoholic beverages, the real star here is the Lobe Blaster. This dangerous, yet delicious, drink is a mix of moonshine, limoncello, absinthe & has an emulsion verte floater; it sure does the trick. It's mixed with lemon juice, club soda & simple syrup so it's super refreshing also. The rosemary gives it a nice aromatic profile as you drink it. The bartenders were really nice & they fully play into the theme. There wasn't too big of a line when I went but the drinks are poured to order so it takes a little bit of time. As long as it's under 20 minutes, I'd be okay with waiting. I found for the price point, this drink is by far the best tasting & strongest drink in Epic Universe. I really enjoyed Bar Moonshine, but I give it three stars because there's nowhere to sit and enjoy the cocktail, and that's a huge missed opportunity here. What it gets right: - Well-made cocktails, including classics and creative originals. We enjoyed the Philosopher's Old Fashioned and the Fleur 75. I like an Old Fashioned where I can taste the bourbon, which was the case here. It could be improved by using a single large ice cube, particularly in the Florida sun, where the cubed ice could dilute the drink too quickly. Went back through to try their saison, which is brewed by a local Orlando brewery. It was a bit tangier than prefer, but was refreshing on a sweltering day. - Friendly service. The bartenders were that happiest and most engaging employees we met. - A large-mirrored bar featuring its many selections, usually with some art deco or other architectural feature. - An overall upscale feel. The overall atmosphere is somewhat diminished by the nostalgic aspect of the American Quidditch team pennants adorning the bar. Usually such overt displays of Americanism are avoided, instead letting the craft and level of service speak for itself, but without it it might not feel very 'wizard-y' so I'll look past it. What it gets wrong: - I lived in Europe for several years and have been many of the so-called "American bars", including some quite well-regarded and famous ones. What's missing here is the intent. Universal reminds you that you're at a theme park by turning this into a quick-service location. I get that Universal probably doesn't want to make a session bar in its theme park, in part because they probably don't want to encourage consumption of multiple drinks in quick succession (though I did do that here) before people go on thrill rides. That's fair. But in doing what they've done here, they betray the intent of the American Bar. The American bars of Europe are not road-side stops. They're session locations you hit up before or after dinner or the theater. It's almost better if Universal hadn't even made it, because they created a place where you want to spend some time, but can't. Still, probably the best cocktail in any theme park, and better than most standard American restaurants too, and at surprisingly reasonable prices. read more

The Baseline: For a theme park bar that also serves food, the drinks must be good, the food offerings must fit the establishment, and the service needs to make the experience fun in line with theme bar. Food: Alcoholic Drinks are served here. I tried the Lobe Blaster which was very effervescent with a citrus hit that paired well with the moonshine. It was a great drink! Service: Universal Cast members were friendly, inviting and kept to the character of the Wizarding World while still providing information. Great service! The aesthetics of the drinks are great. They really tried, but the $18 Lobe Blaster just isn't it. I'm always weary of any bar that serves their drinks in plastic cups. The drink looked cool, but it was pretty meh tasting. Bar Moonshine is a little hidden and way back inside of Harry Potter world. Super tiny inside. Limit 1 drink per ID. After trying nearly every bar here, I think your best bet is once again to go to The Atlantic and order off of their full bar. They make legit espresso martinis over there. read more

Entering the Ministry of Magic portal at Epic Universe is very cool. It's like you've stepped back in time and into Paris. One of our favorite stops here was Bar Moonshine. It's a to-go style bar, so there are no seats inside...but it's very quaint and lovely. The bartenders are quite amusing, telling you things like "no flying" after drinking a Lobe Blaster, and they have great recommendations if you aren't sure what you'll like. My husband was partial to the non-alcoholic drinks like the Lavender Lemonade and Beau The Bleu D'Occamy - I did try them and they were wonderful. My favorite was the Lobe Blaster, which is quite potent, yet absolutely delicious. Definitely smart not to "fly" after that one, but it's so light and refreshing on a hot day. We loved the drinks so much that we are trying to make them at home. It's also fun that when you get a Lobe Blaster, they serve it in a plastic souvenir cup. We have two of them! A moonshine bar in the new Harry Potter Ministry of Magic world in Epic Universe? Yes, my curiosity was peaked and I had to try it out. First of all, I'm very concerned for how this spot will hold up once the parks get really busy. Coming on a passholder preview day there was a constant like out the door the whole time. When I got in line there were probably a dozen people or so. But the line moved SO slowly. They only let 2-3 people inside at a time, which is why it was so slow. We probably waited almost 15 minutes to finally order, and it just seemed like such an inefficient process. The drinks were also quite expensive, which is to be expected at a theme park but still outrageous. My drink was $17-$18, and I can't even remember if that was before or after my passholder discount so it may actually be more. Definitely not something I'd do often at all. I tried the Lobe Blaster drink- a bright green drink I saw several people sipping on outside that I wanted to know about. It was super unique- with a mix of moonshine, limoncello, and absynthe it couldn't be any other way. Honestly, the overall take reminded me of those old necco candies, if you know what those are. I did enjoy it though. And, I actually thought the drink was better once it was watered down a little, the flavors became more pronounced. I'd also recommend grabbing a few macarons from K.Ramelle down the street to go with your drink. It was a lovely palette cleanser and complimented the drink surprisingly well. Oh and don't worry- they have a short alcoholic menu but non-alcoholic options as well like a lavender lemonade. And OF COURSE they have butterbeer on tap, as well as a frozen option! The bar tenders were also super cool and made the experience better, but again the whole process seemed so unnecessarily slow I'm not sure how that will fare as time goes on. read more

It is a very small bar, only a couple of registers, they only serve drinks, no food. There are also no seats inside or places to linger. It is a walk through, get your drink and go place. There are about 3 tables outside but they were always filled with people just sitting looking for shade. When you enter the portal, if you walk back towards the circus tent, make a right and Bar Moonshine is in the back corner. You might miss it if you didn't see people lined up. Since this location is small, there are not many options on the menu. They have some beer and a few cocktails. We had around 4 groups in front of us but it moved very fast, so I would say the line is not terrible. It is mostly outside and again there is very little shade in the area. Their options include a few cocktails as well as a few mocktails and beer. The theme is American quidditch, so there are flags all around with each state on them. Its really cute. We decided to try two different drinks. I went with the Lobe Blaster which was a mix of moonshine, limoncello, absinthe, lemon juice, club soda, and simple syrup garnished with a rosemary sprig and layered with an émulsion verte. The bartender does a little show with this, where the green emulsion comes in a little potion bottle and they add it to your drink at the end. This was delicious. It was strong though, this is definitely a sipping cocktail. I could not really taste the absinthe which was good. I was afraid it would be very licorice flavor since that's what everyone was saying but it was not at all. There was a slight hit of that but it was more lemon than anything. I love a lemon drop martini and this reminded me of that. MY husband ordered one if his favorite, the Philosopher's Old Fashioned which had bourbon, aromatic bitters, simple syrup, orange zest. I don't like these type of drinks, but it was good. I personally could not drink a whole glass but if this is your type of drink then you will enjoy it. He loved it. I will say that for batch made cocktails, these were good. I will for sure make this a stop every time we visit Epic. They also serve the drinks in a plastic cup which has a monogram on it. We kept ours and hand washed it. It was sort of like a souvenir, it is the thicker plastic that can be reused but not put in the dishwasher. Overall, I would add this to your list.
