Everything we had was so good and made for a really memorable meal. The service was exceptional as well. Our server was so friendly, attentive, and welcoming, and really made the experience even better. If you're visiting Dublin and looking for delicious, traditional Irish food in a fun and welcoming atmosphere, I definitely recommend Boxty House!

This little place is right in the popular Temple Bar area. The food was excellent!! I had a lovely Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon added while my husband got the Full Irish Breakfast. With my Benedict, the eggs were cooked perfectly and with the soft boxty being the base instead of the usual bread it was a fun twist on a classic. My husband was happy to try an Irish Breakfast while in the country and he definitely enjoyed it. I tried the black and white pudding which was new to me and it tastes like a stronger version of sausage for those curious. We ended off with the Bread + Butter pudding which was sweet and moist. A great way to finish off the meal. The portions and flavor were worth the value. Why my review is lower though is the service. The waiter was very nice but initially it took at least 10 minutes for him to even approach us to get drinks at least. The restaurant wasn't full and there were maybe only 3 other tables besides us. We then were asked to move to a different table for another party and we still hadn't received anything or placed our food order. After eating it took some time to get the check too. Maybe it was a bad day I don't know but breakfast should be quick and this was not that. Thank you to the staff for the experience.

Absolutely disappointing customer service. The ambiance was beautiful and the food was great, but…read morethe service was so unbelievably poor that it completely ruined the experience. The hostess was the only person who showed any professionalism or basic hospitality. She was warm, welcoming, and seated us promptly. Unfortunately, the moment we sat down, the experience took a turn for the worse. Our server was incredibly rude, dismissive, and inattentive. He never checked on us for refills, consistently approached our table with an attitude, and made us feel as though we were an inconvenience simply for being customers. We had to wave him down an absurd number of times just to receive basic service, all while watching him attend to the tables around us. Being busy is one thing, but deliberately making customers feel ignored while serving everyone else is another. What disappointed me most was his complete lack of professionalism and hospitality. There is absolutely no excuse for treating paying customers with such disrespect. We should not have to repeatedly beg for basic attention at a restaurant, especially one that presents itself as a place for a quality dining experience. The only reason we stayed was because we were hungry. Otherwise, I would have gladly taken my business elsewhere. I've dined at plenty of restaurants, and it's rare to encounter service that makes you feel this unwelcome. The server's attitude was completely unacceptable and genuinely ruined what should have been an enjoyable evening. It's a shame because the food and ambiance were great, and the hostess was wonderful. However, good food and a beautiful setting cannot compensate for a server who clearly lacks the professionalism and customer service skills required for the job. Management seriously needs to address this, because customers should never leave a restaurant feeling disrespected and regretting that they spent their money there.

First, great music. Second, great beer…read more Third, great food. We stopped in on a dreary late afternoon after visiting the Tenement Museum at Henrietta street. The Beef Stew and Mac & Cheese was just what we needed! The Beef Stew was super flavorful, dark in color, nice bite sized chunks of beef (and plenty of them), and then a mound (!) of mashed potatoes on top. It was divine! The Mac & Cheese with pulled pork had a sweet-ish profile. Homemade Mac & Cheese is the base, and then pulled pork (in a BBQ sauce) is layered on top. THEN they sprinkle cheese over the whole thing to give it a nice crunchy top. They have beer flights ("taster trays") of the draft beer, plus cans available and even "casks" (which isn't on tap, and once opened needs to be drunk!) Last, the folks who work here are really nice and they seem to attract a very nice clientele. Plus there are games. This seems like a pretty special place all around.

Perfect if you want a firmer snacking appetizer experience than mozzarella sticks. Very rich though, so come hungry if you're gonna get this in addition to a meal. Beef and Stout Stew: Lots of nice stewy liquid to go with the mashed potatoes. The beef itself was moderately tender. Not tough, though not fall apart. Some great flavors. Fish and Chips: Pretty standard. Crispy fish batter, flaky interior. Crispy chips and fluffy potato inside. The mushy peas where a bit too grainy and not that mushy actually.
