Very doable as a place to meet up with friends for a conversational brunch, or needed an unforgettable luncheon when your plans for steamed hams and aurora borealis at this time of year, at this time of day, in this part of the country, completely localized in your kitchen, is out of the question. But really, it's the cheese variety as the reason for me awarding this spot 5-stars. You can ask, yes, ask to try out before you buy. You don't have to be stuck with buyer's remorse. Try that cheese, all the different varieties that you can point at with your lovely gel nails: soft cheese, aged cheese, bleu cheese - the unique, the nutty, the funky, the kind that you want paired with that juicy fragrant bottle of Chambolle Musigny Premier Cru Les Amoureses. Be prepared for it to be hopping, as neighbors and community members want to show up for this restaurant that survived the Eaton Fires. Our selections were just enough to keep us satisfied and keep our bill under 300.00. The wine menu is wonderful but expect to pay at minimum, 90.00 for a bottle. We loved our selection and our server who recommended it. We were honest, sharing our price point and what we were looking for. We started with the Dinner Rolls and house butter. So good. Daily Crudo was amazing, fresh slices of raw fish presented in a beautiful fashion. Get this if you like fish. It's amazing. We then shared the ricotta gnocchi with a lemon, pepper, parmesan sauce, accompanied by the New York Strip with hotel butter. The dishes were excellent with the steak being melt in your mouth perfection. My recommendation for the dishes with butter is, more butter please. Especially for the dinner rolls. I was so happy with the meal, the company, and the service, I simply stopped taking photos. Trust me when I say the presentation, flavors, and quality of food are exceptional. If you have to wait for your table, try to get a spot next door at Bar Betsy, where you can get a glass of wine, coffee, or an appetizer. Both places were busy and our reservation was at 530pm. Our table was the last to be seated and then Betsy was full. There are charming little stores on the block, so if you have to wait, pop your head in and support these independently owned storefronts. Street parking is ample. Service is incredible. Food is wonderful. Prices are high, but you know that going in. Enjoy.

We came without a reservation on a Wednesday at 7:30 and it was packed! But good news, while you wait you can enjoy a glass of wine or appetizer at Bar Betsy which is what we did for 30 minutes or so. The wine selection is SO UNIQUE! And the bartender was very knowledgeable. It's kind of a place that they ask you what you like then they pour something to see if you like it. I love that - fun & free. We were called over to our table and our bar ticket transfered without fuss. Our server was so helpful & happy! And patient as we were choosing. He even topped us off on wine as a kind complimentary gesture which I've never experienced at a restaurant. We went with the bread, gnocchi, snap peas & steak and of course more wine. ALL AMAZING! Especially the snap peas caught us by surprise - so delicious. Everything was perfect! And dreamy! Definitely go here

The food pairs perfectly with the wine, and everything is genuinely mind-blowing to the tastebuds. The decor is meticulously and intentionally placed and makes the place feel so cozy. Whoever designed this restaurant is a true genius and perfectionist. They have a comprehensive multi-page wine menu that lists taste profiles and origins. I know nothing about wine, but if you're a wine snob, I'm sure you'll find great joy in choosing the right wine for you. The highlight of the experience was the staff working there. Emily and Alfredo are so very welcoming and kind. It's probably the best service I've received at a restaurant and I truly cannot overstate just how phenomenal they are. They went the extra mile to make us feel at home. On top of that, even though we've only been there a handful of times over the course of a year, they remembered us and even where we were visiting from. Thank you Emily and Alfredo!

Unfortunately, I don't have any photos because we're trying to get better about actually enjoying our meals instead of always taking pictures of everything, but man, everything was so delicious and the portions were nicely sized. For a party of two, we started with the baba ghanoush, which was so good. The bread was warm, fluffy, and perfect with it. We also ordered the Brussels sprouts. They weren't my favorite dish of the night, mostly because they were pretty tart and saucy, and I'm personally not a huge sour or tart person. But we still finished them, so that should tell you something. If you like saucier dishes with a more tangy flavor, you'll probably love them. The rice was amazing. It had different types of raisins, nuts, and so much flavor. It was honestly beautiful. We also ordered the branzino, which was really, really good. For our first time here, I think we did a pretty good job ordering, especially because we had no idea how generous the portions would be. We are two full-grown adults and we were stuffed. We even had to take some of the rice and branzino home, and we definitely did not have room for dessert. The service was great too. It was surprisingly busy for a weekday, but everything still felt organized and well handled. The staff was friendly and attentive, and we never felt forgotten even with how packed it was. This place is perfect for sharing and would be amazing for a bigger group. The space itself is also so beautiful. It has a historic and eclectic vibe and it would be perfect for a date night or catching up with friends. There's also so much to do around the area before or after dinner. I'll definitely be back. We were told seating was first come, first served, so when a table opened up outside, our group of five sat down while part of our group went inside to order. Almost immediately, my friends were aggressively accused by a waitress of bringing outside alcohol, which was completely untrue. Shortly after ordering multiple drinks and several plates of food, another staff member came to our table and began yelling at us, threatening to kick us out for being "rude" to staff, even though we had done nothing but order our food and drinks. What made it even more uncomfortable was watching other guests openly smoking weed while staff said nothing, yet our group felt watched, accused, and singled out the entire time. As the only Latino group sitting outside, the experience left us feeling unwelcome, uncomfortable, and discriminated against. As a fellow restaurant owner, I understand hospitality and house policies, which is why this treatment was especially disappointing. What should have been a fun birthday celebration turned into a terrible experience, and we ended up leaving early.

We ended up deciding on the French dip sandwich, chicken Caesar, mushroom bruschetta, and skirt steak fajita quesadilla to grub. Plates are small, but everything was delightful! The roast beef in the French dip was so tender, and cheese, onions, and mushrooms really elevated an already wonderful sandwich; also really appreciate the extra au jus accommodation! The chicken Caesar was delicious, with an appreciatively ample amount of chicken and croutons! The mushroom bruschetta was simply perfection. The quesadilla was tasty, especially with the guacamole. Also got to try their fresh lemonade, French 75, and Moscow mule, which were all so tasty and refreshing, especially for this weather. Couldn't leave without some dessert, and they have a pretty extensive list of gelato too! Ended up going with chocolate, pistachio, and dulce de leche for the gelato trio, which also came with fresh fruit! It was divine and just what we needed during this odd fall heat. Our time was made more pleasant by our wonderful servers Jose and Christian! Jose's recommendations were fantastic (and we already have more things that we'll have to try next time!), and he took time to check on us even when the bar got pretty busy; he also promptly got me a fork after I clumsily dropped mine on the floor. Pretty sure that Jose was who my sister and I also had when we came for lunch previously (yay!), especially after learning that Jose has been with the restaurant since day one. Christian was the one who brought us all the yummy food, and was so polite, friendly, and attentive! FYI, parking lot is a decent size, but can get pretty full as it shares with other restaurants and businesses in the plaza. There's also a pretty nice TV behind the bar, which the high tops and bar seats provided a great view for the Dodgers game! Had to take a star off because the bottoms of the high top chair was severely scratchy against the back of my legs from the significantly worn out cushions. Had to take another star off for the original guy who greeted us, as he made me feel insignificant for not having made reservations, even though all 4 high tops were available when we arrived and only about 1/3 of the bar seats were taken for walk-ins. Potentially likely to return to try their other menu items and drinks. Will likely make a reservation so as to avoid the irritating high top chair cushions and judgment though.

We had reservations for 7pm, and when we arrived, the host immediately let us know it was her first day. She seemed a little flustered, which was understandable. We asked to check out the back patio and ended up choosing a corner table. There were maybe three other tables occupied, so it was pretty empty. Shortly after sitting down, we noticed something black moving through the vines above us.. turned out to be a rat. Another table noticed it too, and they jumped at the sight of it. When our waitress came by, my partner jokingly mentioned that they might have Ratatouille living there. She apologized and told us they'd actually had complaints about this before. She mentioned wanting to get a cat to take care of the problem, which I'm still not sure was a joke or not.. but seemed like a fun idea. Anyways, we laughed it off and decided to stay. Our waitress was genuinely sweet, but the service overall was just awkward. We weren't even given wine menus initially, which is a little strange considering it's a wine bar. We ordered a three-cheese board, two seasonal vodka pastas, and two glasses of wine. The food came out before our drinks, which was a little odd. The pasta itself was incredibly bland. Vodka pasta is one of my favorites, and this genuinely tasted like nothing. We had to ask for salt and pepper. Throughout the evening, different employees repeatedly came very close to our table without saying anything, then walked away. A few even gestured toward our food as if to clear it, even though we were still eating. Mind you, both the cheese board and pasta still had plenty left.. so the whole thing just felt a little strange and uncomfortable rather than welcoming. What sucks is that I was genuinely looking forward to trying more of their menu, especially dessert. But between the rat, the strange behavior from some of the staff, and the food, I just wasn't enjoying myself anymore. Overall, really disappointing. I don't see myself coming back.

I have no idea what happened to our server, but we were completely forgotten about. On top of that, the food took an extremely long time to come out, and when it finally arrived, it was very bland and underwhelming. The table next to us had ordered a brand-new charcuterie board and waited so long just to order their wine that they eventually left the restaurant without even touching the charcuterie board. Overall, both the food and the service were extremely disappointing. Waiting that long just to get someone's attention, receive our food, and eventually pay the bill is unacceptable. Definitely not an experience we'll be repeating.
