Bar bao is a great late night spot. We went after the happy hour crowd and there were plenty tables available. Our server, Giovanni, and bartender Jess were super attentive and helpful. I ordered the shrimp tempura bao bun and Japanese mule which were both delicious. Would recommend trying this place out! read more

Had a great experience with Jess and Giovanni!! Great food, great drinks and friendly service!!!

Don't get me wrong the bao buns and other foods were absolutely amazing BUT the service kinda sucked. We waited over an hour for our food, had to get up and go find our waiter to order, AND I was charged regular prices for happy hour foods... not to mention the size of the actual buns were tiny and definitely not filling enough for being starved for an hour+ read more

The food was pretty good. The bao buns were delicious and original. I had the JFC and the braised pork belly. The dumplings were no different than I have had from other restaurants. There were not a lot of staff working. It appeared the bartender was also the waiter for the whole restaurant which made it difficult to get another drink or even order food. Overall, the food made up for the lack of service, but could be improved. read more

Service was horrible!! Didn't get half of our food. Waited forever for the check and before I was even done paying they were sitting people at our table!!! Worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant! read more

We were very excited to try Bar Bao, as we've grown to really like steamed buns since they've grown more common. Unfortunately, the brunch that we had here did not meet our expectations. While cheap at only $5 and with a unique pea coated rim, the Bloody Mary was watery and lacked depth. Both of our Bao-benedicts (pork belly and fried avocado) also lacked flavor, with the hollandaise very muted and the fried buns in place of biscuits were very oily. I think they should have did these as a play on Asian flavors, which would have made them both unique and ideally with a boost of taste! I hope to come back to try their actual Bao, perhaps during happy hour, but wish their brunch game could have been stepped up. read more

Geovanni was an excellent server and Bar Bao had excellent food. I would 100% recommend.

Food and service were amazing! We had the brunch and it came out quickly. Geovanni was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. Can't wait to come back! read more

I was pretty impressed by the food at Bar Bao. I initially stopped by for the Bao Buns, however the special was for Thursday. While there I decided to just try something else on their menu. The poke tuna tacos omggg they were to die for. The tuna was just perfect. The nachos were also very good. I will definitely revisit to try the Bao buns everyone raves about. Bar Bao was just what Clarendon needed. A great place to hang out, have a couple of drinks and enjoy some good food. read more

Great time celebrating our awesome friend Jennifer's birthday! Marlon our server and Otto the Bartender were AMAZING!!

So I had such a mixed experience here. It was a beautiful day, I loved the location. But the waitress had many mistakes. She put in to many orders of the dumplings, she brought my friends drink out which is served in a honey due Melon and set it on the table which was weird. It kept tipping over. It dripped all over her legs and we finally flagged someone down to bring us a plate for it. Also, we didn't have napkins till we were done. The food was good, not spectacular. I might stop there for a cocktail but I certainly was not blown away which is to bad because I live less than 100 feet away. Yelp Elite: ask for Alex read more

This is the most severely underrated brunch spot in Arlington/DC. It's $35 for all you can eat/drink and the food is absolutely amazing. I never thought that Asian Fusion brunch would be this good but I'm blown away. Don't forget to take a Sake Bomb, great experience! If you want the #1 experience, ask for Alex M.! read more

I love the Bao buns. It is the best there. I do not like the Fries Bulgogi Cheese. The drunken noodle is delicious. I gave three stars because they forgot my orders. We waited for almost an hour. It was not busy. It was bad impression. read more

It was my closest friends birthday so we decided to stop by here for Brunch around 1PM. We heard about their specials for brunch and the bottomless mimosas so we decided to give it a try! We were having a great time, our server V was soo nice and helpful & this other guy Marlon was super generous and kind to our group! He had mentioned to us that there would be a DJ coming in at 3PM & that we should stick around so we did & we ordered a few bottles of champagne. Around that same time I had noticed that there were small empty bottles of alcohol under the table but I didn't really pay much attention to it or was concerned about who's they were. So we were having a great time, more people were coming and having a good time and around 6PM one of the servers kept asking if we were ready to pay for the champagne bottles and I wasn't sure if my friends were going to order more since me and another friend weren't drinking. So when they asked again I told my friends and they paid, I just wasn't sure why they were being so quick about it. Afterwards one of the managers came over and asked us to stand up so he could straighten the table, not entirely sure why. Shortly after he came up to me & asked if those empty bottles on the floor were ours and I responded "umm no I'm pretty sure those were there since we got here around 1PM" & he immediately snapped back saying "alright, you're all getting kicked out for fucking lying to me". And I was so confused at the moment because I wasn't lying and there were about 2 or 3 security guards just pushing all my friends out(mind that my friends are all small and short females). All my friends were angry and furious because we were being kicked out for no reason, so they were arguing with the manager Josh. They claimed that it would've been resolved if WE didn't escalate the situation, but of course anyone would get defensive if they're being accused of something. I've also worked in customer service for years and the way Josh approached me about the situation was completely unprofessional and disrespectful. As a manager you don't want to pick fights or accuse the same people who are giving them their business. We spent around $500 that day($200 for brunch and around $300 for bottles)!! Once we were kicked out, my group of friends were furious because we didn't understand why we were treated so rudely about the whole situation. Was it because we are minorities? Did they just want to give the table to somebody else? I would've loved to come back here but after today, I wouldn't consider going back here. This was one of the worst experiences I've ever encountered. Servers and Cooks were AWESOME, but I wouldn't go back. Josh is DISGUSTING and his customer service & attitude is garbage. read more

Bao buns are so good! Tried pretty much all of them and the pork belly and fried fish are my favoritea. Bulgogi fries are alright, portion was insanely large. There were three of us and we couldn't finish half of it. The Calamari and the spicy tuna were good but nothing special. The cocktails had a kick so definitely or one if your in the mood. Great place to have a girls night out. Go for dinner the restaurants turns into a bar. Overall we'll be back read more

Hands down the worst vodka cran I've consumed in my 23 years of life.....cranberry juice tasted bitter and sour like it had been expired for a long time. Vodka crans here are a no go! read more

This place is a fun place to eat especially when the weather is nice. The service here is outstanding. I asked for a lemonade and the waiter had the bar make one. I guess it's not on the menu. I've had almost everything here. From sushi to the buns to salads. It's fantastic. It's not 100% of that random annoying Clarendon crowd. read more

Formerly Mad Rose, so you'll probably recognize the space. I've been here a couple times for lunch, but not yet for happy hour or dinner. My friends liked it, so I'll definitely be back. Probably this week. We've tried several of the dishes, and I think the consensus was that the Tuna Poke Tacos are the best. After that is basically anything with bulgogi in it. read more

Dim sum? Asian mojitos? Bulgogi fries? You can find it all at Bar Bao! Nestled in the heart of Clarendon just one block from the Metro, Bar Bao opened just this year in 2017. I've only been once but I had a bao-nedict, their take on an eggs benedict. It was delicious and the restaurant itself was pretty neat to visit. My only complaint is that the drink I had might have been a bit overpriced for what I got but it's definitely a fun place to go for brunch! I'll be back soon for sure! read more

I had brunch today with a friend at Bar Bao and we really had a great time! The bottomless brunch is very good as is the service. Our server Marlon was exceptional and he made the experience an even better treat!. Love Marlon and the extra attention he gave us!! read more

Had a really lovely Saturday evening dinner here - impressed with the amount of seating off the bat which makes this place ideal for peak hours. Service was really prompt - we loved the veggie egg roll and the JFC / shortrib bao. Entrees were on point as well. Marlon was very kind, helpful and very informative about the area and menu! Great server! thanks

The food was just average and the service was below average. I think our server would have rather been anywhere else and he made that quite obvious. There are plenty of great restaurants in Arlington. I'd skip on this one. read more

Our waiter Peter was great&the food was amazing. The bulgogi fries were ALOT for a group of four.

Had $35 small plate brunch with friends. Pleasant experience with great good and atmosphere. Each time I've been during brunch, we've been one of few diners which I find odd for the quality of food. Friendly and helpful staff. Chicken and waffles are amazing. All of their brunch foods have an Asian twist which I love. Mimosas during brunch used to be .25 cents which was great. Price increased to $1 which is why I have 4 instead of 5 stars. Overall great experience. read more

Seems lively and fun for happy hour but not great for a dinner out. Service was not great, the one entree came out 10+ min after the other, bar tender stopped making the cocktail we were drinking, the white dragon (waiter joked that it was prob bc it takes 10 min to make, ordered a bunch of dim sum and waiter brought us sauce for it after we had eaten it all. Also, pretty much every dish had cilantro and garlic - just didn't seem too creative. The food overall was tasty, and the cocktails were too, although not very strong. Also the hostess was super sweet and helpful (she found us an outside table bc she knew we really wanted to sit outside). In short, I'd stop in for happy hour with friends, but never again will the food or cocktails be a draw for me. read more

Not my favorite. The buns looked great in the pictures even when they came up to the table. HOWEVER. The buns where stiff and tasted like dinner rolls rather than yummy sticky bao dough. Don't waste your money. If you have to go make sure it is during happy hour. read more

Had a great lunch at Bar Bao! The menu is filled with great Asian fusion dishes. Easy and quick to eat if you're in a rush. Went out there on a Friday night and we were lucky to find a table outside on the patio. Chill ambiance and a beautiful area. Our lady server came up to us promptly to get our drink orders while we were looking over the menu. The cocktails were okay at best, not so strong, but that could be cool if you're into that sort of thing. Then we were hard pressed to find our original server. Then ALEX M. came to the rescue, he was very inviting. Relaxed and attentive, refilling waters and asking how everything was. In fact, everything food was awesome. Bulgogi fries are a must. I'd go back. read more

For dinner, food and service were OK. There is a popular outdoor seating area and I can see why late night food like the cheese fries are popular. The indoor seating is large too. I got the poke bowl and fries. I appreciated the cook's accommodations I requested for the poke but ingredients like the rice didn't taste fresh. Would not return for dinner, especially since there are much better Asian fusion restaurants nearby. read more

I came to Bar Bao twice with friends. For the first time, I ordered some buns and bulgogi fries. Let's just say.... the fries was soooooo salty; i do not recommend this.
