Located inside the Westin Copley Place, one of the nicest and most sophisticated hotels in the somewhat decent city of Boston, I came here because a friend wanted to get some good drinks with some people. Since this bar is located inside a hotel, do not expect the drinks to have any great value, but you should have a lot of money in your hand and you should have the mind of "someone who splurges" rather than someone who tends to be "thrifty". When I walked into this place, I did not feel like I was in Boston. Rather, it felt like I was in a sophisticated bar in either New York City, Toronto, San Francisco, London, Paris, Rome, Tokyo, Shanghai or even in Hong Kong. So this is not a bad choice if you want to go someplace that is sophisticated. However, the clientele that seems to come to this place can be really sophisticated or they can be the "epitomes" of the "typical Americans." So you may find a fairly diverse range of people. Beers are going to be fairly expensive since this place is inside a sophisticated hotel. Be prepared to spend at least $7 for a Heineken or a Stella Artois. I liked how when they served the Heineken, they also provided a nice and cold glass so you could pour your bottle of beer. As for cocktails, the ladies in my friend's party seem to enjoy them. One of the ladies said to me that she like the mojito they have here. On a whim, I decided get a Mai Tai. It was a really juicy and really sweet drink. Did not detect much alcohol content. The cherry they provide on this cocktail is going to be a "fake cherry" so don't expect any fresh juicy fruits as a garnish for your cocktail unless the fruit is an orange. Cocktails are also going to be fairly expensive. Be prepared to spend at least $13-14 on a glass. As for food, they serve this tasty pretzel-like snack. It's really addicting to eat and a great complement to the drinks. Interior is really comfortable, seats are soft, and if you relax yourself a little more, the seats could be comfortable enough to actually fall asleep in after a long day. Music is not too loud, so it does give a little soft ambiance. Service is okay, the people are fairly nice. If you are looking for a server or bartender that's gorgeous, this is definitely not a good option. Overall, this is not a bad choice to spend a lot of money on some decently good drinks, and need a "tiny sophisticated escape from Boston" though I would not come here for the beer but more for the comfort. read more

I really want to like this place, I really do. The tomato soup and grilled cheese "bar bite" was good as well as the service. But really, you guys turned away multiple patrons just because you were within 30 minutes of closing. One group was a family of four with kids and you sent them across the street? The next potential patron was a single 30-something in search of a nightcap. You couldn't even accommodate him? Management at the Westin needs to clean house. Your staff is turning away business and alienating spg loyalists like me with their bad behavior. Lucky you got one star. And yeah if you want to offer me an email to contact you I'll give you more details. This can be salvaged. But it's really sad considering what this hotel once was. read more

Bar 10 is known to have a better bar scene but I went there for lunch. It's a very sad scene where a few people were there and the food was not up to par. The Harvest salad was not bad but my salmon with the mustard sauce was not great. The mustard was a little overwhelming for the flavor of salmon. Good quality fish doesn't require heavy sauces. The service there was okay but there was one server for the entire place. She also made us use the same utensils until I had to request to get new ones. It clearly had goat cheese all over my fork and knife but she placed them in alignment on the wood... what's is wrong with this picture? I don't know what's going on with this restaurant or its the Westin Hotel's issue but the bathroom was absolutely disgusting. The place smelled and none of the toilets were working they were clogged with toilet paper which is a really bad sign of management. The only thing positive about this place is it central to back bay and it's in the hotel itself. In fact I think the quality of the food has gone down. read more

I have been at least 5 times in the last few years, always a good experience. I recently went with a friend on Sunday afternoon for lunch and have a couple drinks. Walking in around noon: Pretty much empty but sat at the bar to talk and watch some tv. I ordered Makers Mark on the rocks and my friend ordered Kettle One gimlet up, both at about $12. Nice atmosphere and a fun, friendly bartender but not annoying at all. The bar is very clean and the burgers were rated top 20 by The Boston Globe in Boston. Right up there w/ the Bristol Lounge {Four Seasons Hotel}. Time to eat... Menu: The menu is pretty simple with burgers, salads, fried calamari, lobster rolls ect. I ordered the Crab BLT {$18} & she ordered the Bar 10 burger {$16} pictures included by me. The crab was real good and fresh however for 18 bucks it needed a bit more crabmeat in there. The fries were perfect as usual and my friends burger was perfectly cooked at "medium" so she was beyond happy. At the end with 2 drinks a piece and two sandwiches it was $88. plus my $20 tip, not bad for a few hours of nice A.C from the heat, a restaurant/bar all to ourselves and a few laughs. Just a regular bar. The lighting is kinda dim...actually too dim for my liking. You can be seated at the bar, tables, couches and what not. Swanky yet low key. Waitstaff and bartenders make you feel at home and welcome whether you just walked in for one drink when the place is jam-packed or if you popped in to spend the night here. For cozy snuggling with someone special, arrive before 10pm. There are ample nooks for sitting close. For a night out with the crowd arrive after 10 and stay toward the large high top tables and long wide bar. Bar 10 has a creative martini menu, fit for all tastes. It lists everything from a classic dirty martini (served ice cold) to a blueberry muffin (blueberry stoli, vanilla brandy and white chocolate gidiva liqueur). If there's something you particularly crave that's not on the menu, they'll make it. This bar carries all the good old comfy standard liquor plus some new and edgy more hip and trendy alcohol and mixers (think white cranberry juice). Drinks are pricey but generous. Food is moderately priced for this type of venue. Good choices and the bar serves a spicy snack mix a la Bonfire earlier in the night. read more

Seating is low and comfortable, great for a group of four or five to sit down and catch up. My one issue was with the music - they turned it up like we were in a club or something. The chillout/trance music sets the mood in this bar full of dark wood accents and scarlett upholstery that is often full of convention goers who are staying at the Westin Copley. The menu has been reduced in scope in the past year or so... food is tasty, but don't come here for the food, instead you should try the creative martinis. I don't go to Bar 10 too often, but it's one of those places that I go to, and then say, "Why don't I come here more often??" I love that it's loungy, but there's more of a casual and relaxed feel to it. It's not loud and crowded like many other trendy hotel bars. There is a long table in the bar area for the social butterflies, however, my favorite are the tables down the middle of the place. You can put 2 tables together for seating for 4, and you each have your own leather chair to sit in. There aren't any drinks of food that really stand out, so don't expect to be wowed, but ambiance-wise, I love it as a chill place to sit down and catch up with a few friends for drinks and apps after work- read more

We were here on a Saturday night. It didn't start to get busy until around 10:30pm, probably. I like that it's dark, the music isn't toooo loud. I like that I probably won't run into anyone I don't want to see there, as the crowd must differ a lot due to the hotel guests. The bartenders are attentive, even though they had just put out a new drink list and weren't quite sure how to make everything 100% yet. I would go back, because I have liked my nights to be more laid back than I used to in my younger days. Havent tried the food. Will do that next time. read more

I'm going to consider this one another conflicted review, but I REALLY enjoyed my drink and the food was also good, so I feel it would be mean to short-change them. But the negatives just outweighed the good things that happened here, so what would have been a four-star review in a perfect world is actually just a two-star review. I'll start with the good. I had the berry mojito (or some permutation of that name) and it was fantastic. I want to marry this drink. I really enjoyed the mix of strawberry, mint, lime, and lemon that was in there. I drank it relatively fast, and needed another one. As with many drinking experiences, it's usually a great idea to grab some food. This is where things started to go downhill... fast. So... time for the not-so-good. Our server wasn't very attentive. Despite our sitting in the couch area right near the bar where she'd walk past us frequently... rarely did she stop to ask if we needed anything. We sat and waited for around a half hour to even put in a food order. We were there drinking, so it's not as if we were in a rush, but when you haven't eaten most of the day, that's a LONG time to wait for your order to be placed. And it throws off your food-induced sobriety balance. First you start getting louder, then you knock things over. Utter mayhem. Luckily it took the server so long to even notice our glasses were empty, there was no chance whatsoever to have the scales tip toward inebriation. Needing to be gluten free, I should have been a little wary of the server's unwillingness to find answers for me. I generally have the rule of thumb that if they can't answer questions, I won't eat there. However, with as long as she was taking I opted for the safest-looking thing I could find on the menu: spinach and artichoke dip with veggie chips. Prior to ordering the food I asked if the mojitos were gluten free, and if she could just do a quick check for me. Blank stare. OK, so I realize rum should be gluten free, but what if they're using some cheap Christmas Tree Shop mojito mixer? I didn't want to take the chance. But rather than walk the three steps to the bar to ask, she just looked at me and said "it's strawberries, mint, lime, and rum"..... yeah. That doesn't always help. So I asked, found out they were safe. Again, it took a while for her to even come back after dropping off the menus. I asked if the spinach and artichoke dip was gluten free, and again... blank stare. Like I was completely offending her by asking her questions that are the difference between sickness and health for me. I asked if she knew what was in it, and she said she could take away the pita chips. Good start. But when I asked if she could ask the kitchen, she again reiterated that she could take away the pita chips and it should be OK. Apparently asking the kitchen would have been very inconvenient for her. Now, actually ordering it AND eating it despite not knowing if it was safe is my fault. The signs were there, and I didn't heed them. So I can't blame the server or Bar 10 for my stupidity or how sick I am and will be the next three days, but I can be upset that that this happened. Again, totally my fault because I ordered without having the answer. I don't blame them for that. I do maybe a little blame them for what I'm interpreting as their not encouraging staff to take customer's food allergies seriously. That being said, I do wish to impress upon her the importance of actually finding out this information for people with allergies. It might be an extra walk and a pain in the ass, but if you don't know, you REALLY shouldn't guess. If I'm going out of my way to tell you that something as simple as a crumb or cooking something in the same oil as something breaded could make me sick for days, it should be taken seriously. Please, please, please take the extra five minutes to figure it out. Your tip will be bigger, I promise. Had the service been better as a whole, I would have gone up to the third star. All it would have taken was her popping maybe two more times in as she walked by, asking to fill our water glasses or if we needed another drink. We literally had to flag her down for refills or even to order. And most of the time she told us she'd be back before she'd even take the order. Had the server actually taken the time to stress the importance of there not being any traces of gluten in, on, or near my food to the people in the kitchen, or had she found out for me that there was no chance for that to happen, I think this visit would have easily been at least four stars for me-- the drink was that good! And for that matter, the food was that good as well! I just think that the server's lack of attention as a whole was inexcusable. And every time I have to take a break from writing this to puke, I get more and more angry. I'll try again, but only to drink. Not to eat. read more

I asked the manager who was floating around if they might want to have another person or two jump behind the bar because it was so busy and she sneered at me and replied "I have two people working the front bar and two people working the back." To which I replied "There only appears to be one person working at the back bar (true) and that maybe even one ADDITIONAL person was warranted even beyond the two that were supposedly working." I'm a little biased because this place is not my style, but my friend took me here on a low-key Thursday night. It was dimly lit and has a red glow because the sconces (wow that's the plural for sconce?) were reflecting off the red walls. It wasn't packed, but most of the tables were filled with professional-looking people. A guy at the table next to ours drunkenly knocked his martini glass over and broke it, but no one made a fuss or cheered. The waiter just walked by and cleaned it up. The music wasn't too loud, nor did it merit comment aside from the volume. We ordered a mixed drink with Stohli ($8) and a pomegranate martini ($13), both of which were excellent, strong, and well-mixed. They set out a little ashtray-sized bowl of mixed nuts as well. Recently Bar 10 was visited by a drunk monkey That monkey might have been me. This turned out to be a perfect starting place for a big group to gather to buy me some drinks for my birthday. (monkey is OLD) 'Some drinks' turned into a lot of drinks - and therefore was also an ending place, as we made it until the ugly lights came on It's big enough, dark enough, loungey enough, and void of most of the douchiness of other comparable bars - so it gets good marks. It's pricey and some of the waitstaff can be pushy, but in an efficient way (read: sadly there was little lag time between drinks. Read: part of the cause for monkey drunky) I wish bars like this existed in hotels I stay at on the road. read more

Bar 10 is one of my favorite places for cocktails. My favorite is the flirtini. I don't ever eat here- the food is not amazing and very expensive. I absolutely love the people watching. It's great to grab a corner table with a friend and just observe. If you're not sure what libation to get, ask your waiter for suggestions. They're pretty friendly and down to earth. read more

I've been here a few times now, and each time, I've had a great time. It's a good place to meet friends for drinks/apps/dinner, I personally like it b/c it's super close to work. I like the dark lounge-y vibe of the place, the dark fabrics, low lighting, comfy chairs and benches to sit in/on. The music is really a bit too loud though. The food has always been terrific here. We had calamari last night, cooked perfectly. Not greasy, the batter was light and not overdone at all. The red pepper/pesto sauce served with it was great. I had the chicken fusili pasta last night, amazing. The pasta was homemade (not sure if by the Westin, or a local vendor), and the parmesan sauce was creamy and delicious. My friend had the cod, which was tender and flaky. Overall, a great dinner. Their wine list is decent, they carry one kind that we both just love (Ravenswood Lodi Zinfandel), so we didn't really look beyond that. We had to skip dessert so I could catch my train, but it looked great, will have to make time next time! The prices are a little higher than I'd like for an after work drinks & apps place, but it's a lot better than the many fried and typical app options you'll find at most of the other choices in the area. I may have my drunken goggles on, or maybe it's because everyone there is so dressed up, but everyone seems to be attractive in this place. Seeing men in suits and women in cocktail dresses always makes me wanna hang out for longer, especially on a Saturday night. The crowd here is probably on the mature side --youngest at late 20s, oldest at late 50s. Everyone appeared to be well-dressed and enjoying themselves. Their drinks are STRONG, but at $14 for a cocktail and $10 for beer, they better be. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the place. read more

Food and drinks were good, but priced on the high side for the quality and quantity... One of my colleagues ordered the same burger I did for dinner; hers arrived with crispy onions, mine did not. I ordered my burger bloody and it was pink, but not juicy. Service was slow. The waitress was civil, but not enthusiastic. Details like that keep Bar 10 from delivering a stand-out dining experience. As we are both in the over 50 crowd, we never feel out of place. It's lively, comfortable and the service has always been right on. If you and a lady friend of your are looking for a quick place to grab a small plate of food and a couple drinks, Bar 10 might be the place for you. Bar 10 tends to be filled with people in town for a short period of time who are staying at the Weston. It's furnished with great couches that are comfy and promote nice intimate conversations. After you are done with your meal and drinks, you can head right outside where there is a beautiful, quite lounge that belongs to the Weston I assume. There are couches that surround a big fireplace. This is perfect for continuing a great conversation and getting to know your date. Afterword just take a stroll around the prudential!!!! What I love about Bar 10 is their early morning breakfast that is served in the back room called the Huntington. I always come here first thing whenever I need to have a quiet time to myself before I devote my hours to studying next door at the Boston Public library. They have a beautiful view overlooking public gardens, prudential center and Copley square hotel. They serve both buffet and on menu. Bar 10 is located on the second floor of the Westin Hotel so you will need to either take the escalator or elevator to it. You can not find it from the street and you definitely may need to ask someone to get their. It consists of a nice large bar with about 15 stools and high table seating adjacent to it; very comfortable couch and lounge type seating in the remaining space. Atmosphere is contemporary modern in shades of browns; nice mix of dimmed lights and lamps. The food menu is limited to flat bread pizzas, sandwiches, salads and some desserts all of which are better quality than most neighborhood bars and most hotel lounge bars. The mix of people are hotel guest, tourist, business types, all late twenties to late forty. Definitely not a college hang out. Great for conversation and relaxing. The cocktail and bar staff are uniformed in black and are all professional. A full wine list, martini list and four beers on tap as well as bottles. Parking is available though the hotel or if you are shopping at Copley Place just walk over though the connecting bridge. read more

There was a time when I loved Bar 10. At that time I was dating this boy, who was way too pretty for me, and it was his favorite spot. Unfortunately, the clientele is not as hip as it once was. The beautiful young'uns have moved onto other places, leaving behind overweight middle age white guys, trying to pull off a blue blazer with their ill fitting jeans. Oh sure you will occasionally see some fantastic Euro trashy men, but it is far and few in between. Okay about the place itself, the location is great right in the mall/hotel and centrally located in between the South End and Back Bay. I love their fruity cocktails, and especially love that they serve them in sensible glasses. (Martini glasses for cocktails is one of my biggest pet peeves.) read more

I was having a bad day so a friend suggested we meet for a drink at Bar 10. I had never been and was in desperate need of a drink so I agreed. Although it's in a hotel, it is not a typical "hotel bar". The decor is classy, the lights are low, and there is no television. The fact they have no tv is reason enough for me to recommend it. It almost reminds me of a larger (less intimate) version of City Bar in Copley. I can only comment on the drinks and appetizers, but would give both a 4 or 4.5. The appetizers are definitely large enough to share. I think this is a good place to go with girlfriends for an after work drink or on a date as long as you are aware that you may be faced with a lot of tourists--it is in Copley Place after all. read more

They have good drinks and the bartenders are pretty flexible when it comes to making drinks that aren't on the menu. Solid neighborhood staple. Can get busy at dinner time, so plan ahead. Recently went through some major changes, taking some steps towards a higher end gastro pub. A new chef took over and brought all new food and drink menus to the table. Everything is scratch made with high quality fresh ingredients, and the food reflects that attention. read more
