The service here is what really took me by surprise. We ordered to go and ended up eating it outside their restaurant and were promptly given bowls, water, and serving utensils. The food took a little while to come so we didn't want to wait any longer. This place has really good Yelp reviews for good measure. They are not greasy. They are not overly salty. It leaves you feeling light and satisfied. I would recommend this place. I was expecting Hawaiian style manapua's but they are different. It's more crunch the bao that is. Parking: Parking can be difficult to find. We saw a handful of metered street parking nearby. Environment: The place was busy when we arrived. We were down to our table and given menus to look through. The menus were cute and looked handmade. Restrooms are located towards the back and are clearly marked. Staff members were friendly and knowledgeable of the menu when we asked about the options. Wrapped in a unique shape that resembles the ridges of dragon fruit, it had a slightly thicker/chewy skin, which I love and prefer. Went to Bao Bao house after the ducks game on Saturday. It was very busy with about an hour wait and only two servers. The servers were hustling and they did their best to get everyone seated as fast as possible. We ordered the spicy chicken cold noodle, triple delight pan fried dumpling and pork bao zi. The noodles were good, kind of got better as you ate them too and doctored them up with some vinegar and soy. The Bao was deservingly the star with pillowy soft bun and great flavour in the pork. The triple delight dumplings were also very good. Overall despite the rush the food cane very fast once we sat down. Would come again to try some more! read more

I must say this place has some very nice Chinese food that tastes almost like how my mother made it. I am so disappointed. I ordered the mushroom chicken fried noodles. The picture it showed online of the dish had zucchini and mushrooms. It looked delicious. I was so excited when the order arrived, and I opened it to find out mushroom chicken was void of mushrooms and there were no zucchini. All I received were noodles and chicken. If you're going to go to the trouble of posting pictures of your dishes, you may want to make sure the ones that go out the door look similar to what you are promoting. i was in town and had heard good things about this place so decided to place an online order to go. that was easy enough. two things made the experience challenging: parking around the restaurant is tough but i luckily got a 10min loading spot that made it somewhat easy to run over and grab it. the online order menu doesn't do a great job of showing photos of all the options nor do you know what ingredients are in individual dishes in case, like us, we had a person with dietary limitations. so i had ordered what i *thought* would be dairy free but just to be sure, when i walked in to pick up, i double checked and they asked the kitchen. turned out that the curried fried beef bao had both coconut milk and regular milk so then i had to pivot and figure out how to deal with an order that had already been placed and paid for. luckily, the server was amenable to me choosing something else and they make it while i waited. shout out to the woman working who went the extra mile to communicate with the kitchen to insure that whatever got made had to be dairy free. we ended up with vegetarian bao (heavy on spinach or some other kind of greens as well as tofu and/mushrooms,) shrimp and pork wontons and vegetarian fried rice with mushroom sauce. things were good but i found that i needed the hot chili oil to spice up the rice which i found to be rather bland. quantities were fine as well. the food was good but i'd be careful with people who might be limited to what they can eat and i'd also be aware that parking can be challenging. read more

Quality Chinese food in the heart of Eugene. It seems like everything is made to order and is family-owned. Everything we had from the beef soup to the pork buns was solid. If you're looking for real-deal Chinese food (on par with what you'll find in the San Gabriel Valley by LA), this is a place to check out. If you're not really sure what to get, their standard pork buns (bao) are a great way to go. Now, I only give 4 stars just simply because it's on the pricy side for what you get. It might be because of the difficulty of getting such unique ingredients in Eugene. Yet, I didn't feel like any of the food stood out significantly. I have to say I was afraid the food wouldn't be that great as I am so used to there being so much more restaurant reviews in general but I was pleasantly surprised! We ordered some pork dumplings, vegetable dumplings, pancakes and the spicy chicken noodles. The only sad part was we got no topping/sauce for the dumplings and pancakes delivered as part of our order. I do no recommend the pancakes as it has little to no flavor... I wish it came with some sauce or topping. The dumplings were good and more filling than expected. The spicy chicken noodle is a MUST ORDER. Every dish I have tried at Bao Bao House has been excellent - authentic tastes, perfectly seasoned, delivered to the table piping hot by friendly servers. Their mapo tofu is spicy and delicious, and their bowl of pork and shrimp wontons in soup is milder but very tasty. Only one complaint, both restaurants - on Gateway in Springfield and just off the Park blocks in downtown Eugene - can be cold in fall and winter, especially if customers or staff leave a door to the outside open. But putting that problem aside, these are the best Chinese restaurants in the Eugene-Springfield area. Yummm! read more
