Despite the glowing reviews on here, we received poor service. Our security showed up 1.5 hours late and we called the office several times. They were rude and told us to wait. I saw the article on techcrunch a few weeks ago, and recently I was at a bar that had a Bannerman. Let me tell you, this man-beast brought new meaning to "Do you even Lift?" I was pretty impressed by his stature. He was also nice to me after I complemented his Trex Traps. Pretty cool service, the guards seem better than usual run of the mill scrubs that most places hire. I also love the idea of being able to order security guards with my phone.. much easier than trying to find/hire/vet a security company(which I've had to do in the past for events I've thrown, it's such a pain). read more

I've never booked them myself, but a few of my friends have used Bannerman for their event security. These were personal events, and the security presence was great at keeping people from getting excessively rowdy (especially helpful at my friend's Bay 2 Breakers party). People tend to avoid doing stupid/destructive things when they see a big security guard who's an ex-Marine :) They just bill your credit card and take care of paying the guards, so you don't have to worry about paying them yourself. I've also been seeing their guards appear all over San Francisco. Apparently they're doing a great job getting companies to sign up for recurring office security. Seems like a much better idea than getting forced into a contract with one of the existing office security incumbents! Best use cases are for recurring office security and event security. Not sure if they do personal security (e.g. your own bodyguard), but I'm sure they'd give it a shot if you're willing to pay. read more

As an office manager, I deal with various types of vendor on a daily basis. While majority of the vendors I work with are great, none has surpassed the professionalism and high-quality customer service that Bannerman has provided throughout the years. Our office is a large historical building and needs security during weekday after-hours and 24/7 weekend coverage. Our onsite supervisor, Matthew Johnson, cares deeply about our office and goes out of his way to make sure that we receive the best security coverage. The entire Bannerman support (inclu.Rachel) and operations team (includ. Micheal, Matt, ) is amazing to work with and are always coming up with intuitive tools and operations to better their client's experience. I've experienced this first hand with their newly updated app and dashboard. It is something I have never seen before with other vendors and even with many of the security vendors I've met with throughout the year. You can see your invoice, write instruction to your guards, see the schedule, etc. Booking is extremely easy and all of their guards are highly experienced and qualified! One of our night guard, Brummel, has an extensive background in law enforcement and is extremely professional. Bannerman also highly value their client's feedback and actually take action! They also curated specific security procedures based on our office's need. You can talk to them about your main concerns and they'll deliver. I highly recommend Bannerman! They have guards who can do events, offices, instances, you name it. They're extremely easy to work with and have high-tech online/mobile services that do all the work for you. read more

Great news that you finally responded three months later. Don't make your problems my problems. I called for a service and expected a certain kind of level of service. Used the app a few times when needed security. They showed up and were professional. Ordered a guard over the weekend and the guard never showed up. I had to call Bannerman and they told me he called in sick. Well, if he called in sick than why didn't you send someone else? They said they would call me back within five minutes. Never heard from them and I called them back. Someone arrived over two hours from the time requested. They opened up my business, customers and employees up to liability. Not a very reliable source, make sure you have a back up plan as they may not show up. read more

Highly recommend Bannerman for office security. Here's why: Our office in downtown San Francisco (SoMa) was having a lot of sketchy activity at night. We started with a different security guard company to patrol several times each night. The security guards were, simply put, unprofessional. They were late, unfriendly, and sometimes didn't show up at all. When we learned that some guards never showed up at night to do their patrols I would try to call the company and they wouldn't respond. The last straw came when we hosted an event for our investors and top clients at our office and the two security guards who were sent to our office were wearing torn blue jeans and were on their phones the whole time. The whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth. I found Bannerman via Yelp -- actually surprised that I haven't heard of them before. Because I work in tech, I wanted to try out the "tech company" that does security guards (they advertise themselves as a tech company because everything is managed online or via the app). We started using them for our events, and the guards looked really good. They were professional, courteous, and took their job seriously (Michael, especially!). Then one night we had a break in and our alarm was going off. The door was busted and I thought that I was going to have to spend the whole night watching the door because we couldn't lock it. I booked Bannerman (honestly thinking that they wouldn't be able to send me a guard) and a guard came in 40 minutes (at 2AM!!!) to take over. I looked like a hero and these guys truly saved our butts. Truly a night and day difference from past experiences. We are going to use them when we expand to Seattle and LA as well. read more

I was dealing with a nightmare of a security company located in San Jose before I switched over to Bannerman - I don't know why I waited so long! The guards that we have at the office now are of a MUCH higher caliber - very friendly, professional, and always willing to help out or go the extra mile. I hired Bannerman security a twice now, both times for event security (party). My complaint is NOT with the guards (all the guards that we have worked with are great). However, I would never rely on Bannerman security ever again. Bannerman advertises "Same Day & Scheduled Security". This cannot be further from the truth. The second time that I scheduled security was a couple days before the event and they guaranteed me that they would be able to provide the security guards. The afternoon of my event, they gave me a call and told me that they were not able to find enough security guards for my event. Further, the representative was extremely unapologetic, and attempted to blame the whole thing on me saying I "should have scheduled it earlier" even though they supposedly offer Same Day security. Again, for the 2/6 guards that did show up, they acted professionally and were great both times. However, I would not recommend relying on Bannerman for security when there are a plethora of other reliable companies. read more

Security no-show. I've used Bannerman for 3 private parties at exclusive properties in SOMA (not being pretentious, just stressing the fact that security was necessary due to nice building in rough area). The first two experiences were great! However, what was very disappointing was that this third event, my birthday party, I was glued to my phone waiting for my 100+ guests to arrive so I could let them into the building. I was constantly excusing myself from conversations to grab the door or to ask someone to run outside to open the building door for the guests. Further, about 30 minutes after my guard was supposed to have arrived, no one had taken the initiative to call me to inform me that the guard had an emergency and could no longer make it. I appreciate the credit that management have given to me, and I have had great experiences in the past, but it doesn't take away the fact that my big event and all of the measures I had taken in advance to make it special was constantly interrupted. It would have been nice to have at least been notified of the situation without myself having to call the "emergency" line to find out what was going on. Based on the credit I have, I will try using the service once more for an upcoming event and will update my review if I don't have to man the door at my own event again. So on New Years, I threw a huge party at my house in Bev Hills. Needless to say, things got out of hand... QUICKLY... Decided to try out the Bannerman app, and wow - AMAZING!!! 2 guards (ripped as eff) showed up within 1hr of using the app, and man did they get the door under control. Update #1: It hurts me to write this review after seeing what a great review I gave them for a previous event. We had another event in May 2016 and our security guy disappeared for over an hour about 10 minutes after our 3 hour event started. It was extremely important to have a guard securing the area as it is in an alley that gets a lot of shady traffic and we had a food truck that sat in front of our office with open doors to 150+ people. After spending 45 minutes of calling every Bannerman number under the sun, he was located about a half hour later and seemed to be on some sort of upper. He didn't stand at the post like we asked, he was all over the place and he even had the nerve to go in and eat the food that was on spread for our guests. That is the last thing you want to deal with when you are already stressed out trying to host an event. We were eventually reimbursed, but the whole process of it was an absolute nightmare. Update #2: We were hosting an event last week at a hotel in the Tenderloin, which clearly requires a security guy at the door to make sure the wrong people aren't let in. This time we had an absolute no show from our security guy. I didn't receive a single call during this (although they absolutely request your cell number for the day of the event) and all I got was an email two minutes before the event started saying he wouldn't make it. However, it was caught in my company's spam and I never saw it until the next day. Going back on the email, it said they were going to try to get someone there for an hour after it started... Half way through our 3 hour event I received a second email stating that it was canceled all together! How in the world can you call this a security company when the past two events I've had haven't had any security during it and the management is the furthest thing from managing their employees?!? read more

I recommend Bannerman. We used their service for a set length of time to meet some overnight security needs we had at our office building. Bannerman canceled our security guard ~3.5 hours before the event start time via email. I work at another SF-based startup and am familiar with customer service, so here are some things that can be improved: 1. Better backups. Based on the 1-star reviews, it appears that the security guards hired by Bannerman are unreliable. A more robust backup system (they have one security guard on call) would solve this issue. 2. Better communications. In a situation like this, an email is an insufficient method of communication. A phone call would be the best option, followed by a text. From what I can gather, the email option is used to 1) save money on operational cost and 2) as a "passive" touchpoint so Bannerman can "claim" it contacted their client. 3. Better recourse. Since my security guard was canceled at the last minute, Bannerman should have offered me some recourse, like a free Bannerman for my next service. This works because 1) if the client uses it again, while it costs money, you retain the client and 2) if the client leaves, there's no loss (except for some accounting issues). I told the very kind Customer Service agent by phone (I ended up emailing and calling them directly) that she is doing her best (and she was very sorry!) but because of this negative experience, I would take every opportunity to post a negative review of Bannerman in every Review Site, so you may see this review in other places as well. read more

As a client, I am constantly unhappy with bannerman secruity services. I am so glad that are contract with them will be ending in 5 more month. The guards stand around in a large group and have friendly conversation when they should be doing their job. All I heard are them complaining about their company, hours, and other guards lack of performance. As a client, I don't want to hear all the unsense and want them to do their jobs. I want any future clients to know the type of company and guards they will be dealing with. read more

Bannerman was a terrific security company. I booked them to guard my son's wedding. The first company I called for a quote charged 30% more than Bannerman, so I was really happy to hear their more reasonable hourly rate. I needed a guard on short notice, because two days before the wedding, we learned there was the possibility of an uninvited guest showing up, but Bannerman provided a great guard on only two days' notice and during the height of the holiday season, too. The guard arrived promptly and was ideal: prompt, professional, attentive, alert, cooperative, and helpful. Highly recommended! read more

Bannerman was recommended on my neighborhood Nextdoor.com site as good personal security by a few neighbors. I decided to give them a shot for an open house that I was hosting on a Friday night in an area that is technically downtown SF but some might say is Tenderloin :) As a realtor, I didn't want the stress of managing the gate to a private street for my party-open house. The guard was early, well dressed and really was a huge help. I felt secure and at ease so I could focus on my job. I would use these guys again. The process of online ordering, the follow up and the final result were all impressive. I emailed them tonight as I forgot to tip our guy (I like to do this for good work) and I got an email back within 3 minutes. They seem responsive and on their game. I also liked that they employ folks who are background checked and many past military guys. Bottom line: the positive reviews were true and I wanted to share on Yelp.
