There is now a second Bahnmigos in Brooklyn! In what I am assuming will eventually end up being 3 Banhmigos- an obvious and much deserved tribute to John Landis; whom, as we all know, is a HUGE star in Vietnam, as well as fairly acclaimed here in the states. This spot is just as good as its predecessor. The Grilled Pork is the same as the one in Park Slope (that is to say, good). Get it spicy- they know the perfect mix, to not make your throat close up. Plus there's always Sriracha if you need more. The beef short ribs Bahn was really good too- I love the hint of lemongrass. They have a sign that says "Tapas coming soon" but with so much other stuff, including appetizers, I don't think anyone's holding their breath (even though, most probably should- those pickled veggies are ripe!). Well spiced meat. Big portions. Lots of veggies, herbs, spices and meat in the sandwich (most places put so little). Bread is fresh. I figured today to try the pho. OMG. So well spiced. Thick and delicious. Yum. I only had the broth because it was so hot out that I really just wanted the sandwich and bubble tea but I will come back for it. So that leaves me to their bubble tea. How often do you see taro tea around? It is so good. And purple. The matcha is also great. Vietnamese coffee with boba is surprisingly amazing too! I ordered the Shrimp Rolls with Vermicelli and the Short Rib Salad. The Shrimp rolls were good and tasted fresh. The peanut sauce that accompanied it wasn't watered down and tasted authentic. The Short Rib Salad was DELICIOUS. I was looking for a salad with a little pizzazz and this definitely hit the spot. The beef was perfectly seasoned and the sauce was amazing and light. Beware for PEANUT ALLERGIES: the salad is topped with crush peanuts. I haven't tried the others but I'd assume all the salads have the crushed peanut topping. read more

Both the grilled chicken and the tofu "chicken" proteins had great flavor, but I checked off spicy for both and there was nothing but the mayo, protein, pickled veg, and cilantro. To be honest, if this were in Manhattan, Dallas, or Cali; I would not give it 5 stars. But the food in this area is terrible and this is easily the best option I've found for lunch. Banhmigos in Park Slope is one of my favorite banh mi spots, so when I saw they opened a second location, I knew I was going to stop in at some point. It's much bigger than the original, and pretty modern chic. They have those big light bulb letters on the wall spelling out their name, have a ton of seating, and they sell beer. I did the traditional banh mi, and it's damn fine at this location too (though I give the edge to the original). At $7.50, it's a ton of food. You can also get them as two tacos instead. First off this is a strange mix of cuisines I couldn't really imagine fusing smoothly. Even if you just want to pick something up and eat it at home, the preparation takes forever. I ordered banh mi with spring rolls and the rolls were just like they had been purchased at Duane Reade. They were chewy and tasted so incredibly neutral. I would say Banhmigos is your typical Viet spot. I quite enjoyed the bubble tea I had - so much that I went back for seconds lol. I got a tofu pho (attention VEGANS, all pho comes with beef broth... even the veggie options) which was tasty. I needed a quick fix before my walk home and this meal did the job. I live for authentic food and their shredded chicken consistently failed every single time i ordered over the past 3 years [for delivery]. - Shredded Chicken banh mi - it wasn't shredded chicken, it was like boiled in salt then cut up into chunks. VERY SALTY. They drenched it in sri racha even tho i always request no sri racha bcuz i prefer jalapenos for kick, and it makes the bread all soggy. - The sangwidge was soggy because of the chicken and the overload of sriracha. There was no butter spread. I asked for extra toasted bread bcuz their banh mi's are always freaking soggy. -- They get one star for speedy delivery. Most of the staff were wearing their masks under the nose and chin and also had a customer or someone inside wearing mask under chin. I did not want to give this new location a bad review. I tried it 4 times before being forced to write this and warn others of the food poisoning I got that lasted 5 days. The night I got the food poisoning I ate the grilled chicken soup and summer rolls. Lo and behold I was absolutely sick less then 6 hours later. That same meal they also forgot to pack the sprouts and fresh herbs. The first 3 times I ordered food from them they delivered to me. I gave a huge tip to the delivery guy all 3x. Then the 4th time they told me I was out of range and they will no longer deliver. I think it is going to be hard for them to survive next to such an impressive sushi restaurant as Silver Rice, Silver Rice lives up to the standards of freshness and impeccable customer service. I've always been surprised at how no one had yet to open a Vietnamese shop - the only thing they were missing. This area was in need of one and now it's here! There's a bunch of banh mi places in this area but Banhmigos has gotta be my fav. Their bread is perfect - crips on the outside, soft inside and amazingly warm; very fresh pickles and nicely grilled meats too. I'd def recommend the classic banh mi with paté and ground pork, the grilled pork banh mi (actually is more like a tender pulled pork), and the veggie chicken banh mi which is super flavorful. Hmmm. Just had the chicken flavored tofu banh mi. Not very satisfied, nor full. I wish the banh mi came with more tofu inside, especially considering they've raised their prices. I really don't get the 3 star review for Bahnmigos. I've ordered from this spot more than a handful of times in the past few months, J and I have Bahnmigos on our dinner rotation and it has never disappointed. The food usually comes before the estimated time on Seamless and it's still piping hot. I only get the short rib pho but J gets everything and it's all pretty good, not to mention that one order can feed two people (in my case at least). The summer rolls are delicious and the bubble tea is pretty on point. The 5 star review is in support of my go to for pho in the 'hood and I'm totally a fan! It's like the neighborhood pizza spot that everyone goes to except it's bahn mi and pho which is THAT much harder to come by in Crown Heights. So naysayers, piss off... If you have a favorite pho spot that you swear is amazing but located in bumblefck Elmhurst, Queens or wherever you should continue to trek up there to get your fix. Decor is interesting. Being from Southern California, it's hard to find comparably good Vietnamese food in NYC. I was excited when I saw these spot after recently moving to Crown Heights, but all in all the Chicken Banh Mi that I had was rather lackluster. The bread was okay but the rest of the sandwich didn't really taste like anything. Also it took a surprisingly long amount of time for them to prepare it. I'll probably be back to try the pho sometime later, hope it convinces me to change my review, but for now I will not be going to Banhmigos for their banh mi, that's for sure. read more

I used to eat food like this when i moved to Chinatown 22 years ago for very cheap. This food costs a bit more but is just as tasty as good ol Pho 89. Highly recommended. Also, beer. read more
