Khin Khao - 1/2 order party trays of beef salad Nam Tok

Attended the Queen Mary Night Market summer events in 6/2024 …read more Lo and behold I spot Khin Khao amongst the crowd as one of the participants vendors . Of course my contemplation of what to eat has been decided. Khin Khao for the win , as always the friendly service and tasty food has remained consistent . My usual favorite from here are their mango sweet rice dessert , boat noodles and the beef salad . Others boat noodles are sweet , not at khin khao, their flavors was superb with a melding of savory goodness taste . Mango sweet rice dessert is a seasonal dish on their menu, I made sure to order a few container for the next day . ( depending on yellow mango season) definitely a must buy from them . Tip: when at home take out the sticky rice and steam until warm or a steam in the steamer. Pour in the sweet sauce into the warm rice mix well and eat with the mango . Yumm

It reminded me just like how my friends momma used to cook for me in high school. Taste brought back memories. Perfect char and smokey taste to beef as well. Pickled veg was also really good, not very sweet or bitter but a nice freshness with the beef. Similar to this white kimchi so I loved it! Can't wait to try their other menu options, but the skewers will not disappoint if you . I can't explain it but the seasoning on it is just amazing. Follow them on ig for event updates :)

We get inside. We get seated. Look at the menus. Menu shows they had Diet Coke. My daughter and I both ordered one. When it arrived we both thought it tasted weird. I mention it to the server "that's because it's Coke Zero" Diet Coke and Coke Zero are not interchangeable, guests should be made aware of this especially when the menu says Diet Coke and that's what was asked for. Another note, fountain drinks only had one free refill. I ordered fish and chips, my daughter got the ham and grilled cheese sandwich with "fries", my friend ordered the clam chowder and her daughter got the shrimp basket. First, the "fries and chips" were not fries. They were potato wedges. Although potato wedges are fried potatoes they are not French fries. The fish part of my fish and chips wax good. The tartar sauce was sweet and that threw off my taste buds. My daughter and friend's daughter both enjoyed their orders. My friend said she'd give the clam chowder a 6/6.5. I tasted it. It wasn't bad, but tasted more bacon than clam. It was definitely an experience eating here. I forgot to mention when the check came it had a credit card fee on the check without knowing if I was paying with cash or card.

I've purchased them three times (each) to make sure I didn't just get a weird batch so I can attest that they lack in flavor, they're just sweet. Sylvanas are decent-crunch is great, not a whole lot of flavor, overly sweet. I suppose I only enjoyed them because it reminds me of my sansrival birthday cakes when I lived in Manila. Nostagiaaaa from the actual texture! Calamansi loaf- fave because it tastes good overall , but lacked calamansi flavor or tartness from the calamansi juice I guess Ube pandesal- I used to get this 3 times a week- just tastes like regular pandesal with a small slice of Cheez. Again, zero ube flavor Regular pandesal- can't go wrong here. Bibingka- decent. Doesn't have the traditional chewiness of bibingka, but just okay in actual flavor. I doctored mine up with slices of Cheezewhiz and salted egg at home. I think the names of the pastries are deceiving because they lack the actual flavor that they're named after. Stopped coming because I felt like I was just paying $20 per visit for something sweet that didn't have depth in flavors. Also, after reading the clap backs from the owner on IG/Yelp reviews towards other patrons, it has turned me off and made me more hesitant to support her business. The guy though (sorry I don't know his name) is always at the counter and super nice!

We tasted each of tamales That everyone bought and we all voted for the 7 dollar each tamale! ( 5 dollars would of been more the price point I would expect for upscale tamales when you get get some for 2 bucks)As pricey as they were for tamales, it was the perfect bite with the masa and meat combination. I don't like when lots of masa and barely any stuffing. These tamales were made very well, masa was moist and the insides were well season. Super tasty! Wish it was spicier but I like my food spicy, just a preference. A must try if you have the money to splurge

The tamales were 6 for $40 ($7 for one) with a choice of three kinds. I wish the mole ones were offered but I'll have to get them another time. Duck mole tamales! The tamales were moist and soft (but not mushy). The layer of masa was thin and there was plenty of well-seasoned meat. The meat wasn't dry either. And the tamales came with various toppings (cheese, salsa, crema). You could tell that the tamales were made with love. They're also free of pork lard. The woman behind the pop-up, Yunia Fumes Mata, works at Bestia, one of the best restaurants in LA.
