Second location is just as good as the first! They speak both Vietnamese and English Pros: -sandwiches made fast (within 10min of calling) -cute takeout boxes -each sandwich comes with an au jus to pour on top Cons: -sandwiches were served just at room temperature. Wish they were warmed

Pork belly banh mi

5 stars for the pork belly. I actually tried their first location a while ago because of the hype and I did not like the dac biet and pork sandwiches, not the bread nor the filling. The bread has no flavor and the texture is not good. I only came here because I was asked to by a family member who said that this location is WAY better than the first, so I came for them. They were half wrong, the bread is still the same bread as their first location, however the pork belly was delicious here. If I were to rate it on the pork belly alone, it would be 5 stars. I called in the order and it was ready quickly. It was empty inside and the guy that helped me was friendly enough. I am not a fan of their packaging because it's open and not sanitary. Although the restaurant was empty it did not feel clean at all, the door and glass were caked in grease and the floor was very dirty. This place is not for me.

Phenomenal Banh Mi. Gotta love a place with a simple menu that they execute perfectly. We gotta start with the bread which is so crispy, soft, fresh and fragrant. It's slathered with a generous house made Pate and mayo. Then there's a variety of fillings to choose from. The crispy pork and bbq pork were our favorites. Then the pickled veggies and cucumber which added a refreshing contrast to the rich meat. Overall, it's the best banh mi we've had in so cal. Can't wait to have it again!

I ordered to-go. When I got there, my sandwich was ready. I was greeted, paid for my sandwich, and left. Service was good as expected. Inside was clean and organized. I ordered the Roasted Pork Belly Banh Mi. It was quite filled, a the meat was made really well. The skin was crunchy, the meat was flavorful, and the pate tied it all together. I tried the other location and it was not this good. I'm hoping they keep this up and keep making it this good at this location.

Stop number three on a Bahn Mi food crawl consisting of seven SGV restaurants. Hoa Phat was a must try based on recommendations all across various social media platforms, specifically the Heo Quay or Crispy Pork Belly Bahn Mi. They recently opened this location on Valley Blvd. Same menu, same price, same quality and taste but no lines! I heard their other location frequently sells out of the crispy pork due to its popularity and I can see why! The Crispy Pork Belly Bahn Mi is absolutely delicious and is probably my favorite out of all the sandwiches I've tried on this Bahn Mi food crawl. It might not be the most traditional but it's fantastic. In fact, it was so good I came back a second time. I appreciate the focus on quality. Bread is crispy of the outside but not hard to the point that it cuts up your mouth and soft on the inside. It comes in a cute box which has an open top for the sandwich to breathe. Included is the sauce, fresh and pickled veggies bagged separately for you to finish assembling. All this to ensure the bread and pork belly stays crisp. The sandwich is packed very full of crispy pork belly which was amazing tender, just the right amount of fattiness and a delectable crisp skin. The pickled veggies are not too sweet or sour, and along with the fresh veggies and sauce, perfectly balances out the richness of the pork. The hype is real with this one! I truly enjoyed the Crispy Pork Belly Bahn Mi and highly recommend it! You also get a discount paying with cash!

delicious bread and always fresh. if you love crispy pork, you have to come here. i haven't had pork so juicy yet crispy in a long time. the sauce they add on the side makes it not too dry and lets you just keep going haha. since the bread is fresh, the baguette is not the flattest so you will have to be doing some mouth gymnastics and rotating to get the perfect bite each time. this location is pick-up/take out only.

Grilled pork no pate

Banh Mi Hoa Phat is not bad. I got the grilled pork with no pate, and it tasted good but not spectacular. It's on par with other banh mi places. Their bread is probably baked in house because the bread shape is not all uniform, soft, and chewier than other spots. The space is huge, but there no tables for you to dine-in. Parking is just whatever spots open right outside their store, which could be challenging if you want a spot close to the restaurant. I was lucky and got one right out front on a weekday afternoon.

I was in the mood for a warm roasted pork banh mi. I have tried their MPK location before didn't think it was amazing but it was decent. I saw they had opened SG location so I wanted to stop by and try it. Upon walking in, I noticed the entrance door was very dirty and had a bunch of grease finger marks on the glass. It was kind of gross. I proceeded anyway because I was hungry. I ordered one sandwich, the roasted pork banh mi. I saw there was a discount for paying cash so I paid with cash. While waiting for my ordered, I was looking around. They have refrigerated display cases but they're about 75% empty and partially filled with drinks. They have bench seating along the sides of the whole store. There are no tables so there is a open middle area. The MPK location has tables for you to sit and eat. The exterior and interior isn't really inviting at this location. About 10 mins later, I received my order. I walked to my car and attempted to start eating it since I was hungry. Started putting in the carrots and daikon. Then the cucumber & cilantro, when I noticed the cucumber was cut in an odd shape. I then noticed the bag was kind of this milky color. So I did a smell test, it was sour. I was just going to eat it without the cucumbers but was encouraged to go back into the store and let them know the cucumber & cilatro was sour. I let them know. They gave me a new one. I am not sure when the veggies are packed, perhaps I got an old one. But they should really do quality checks before just putting it in the box. Now I have a fresh bag of cucumbers and cilantro. After putting it in my sandwich, I took a bite. It was just okay. They are generous with the pate and mayo which I appreciate. I didn't like the pork belly, which people rave about. It was cold. Also the bread didn't taste super fresh either. Idk if they make it fresh in their store or bring it from the MPK location. Usually, you would smell fresh banh mi being made and the pork belly too upon walking in. I didn't notice any smell. I'm not sure if I would return to this location. I may just go to the MPK one if I'm really craving a roasted pork banh mi.

I ordered the beef sandwich to-go and was pleasantly surprised. The bread was crusty on the outside and soft on the inside, which made every bite really good!!! The meat was flavorful and paired perfectly with the crunchy toppings and fresh herbs. I also liked that it came with pickled veggies on the side and a small sauce. Everything tasted fresh and well-balanced. It wasn't overly heavy, but it was still filling. You can tell care goes into the ingredients. Definitely a place I'd come back for Vietnamese sandwiches.

This location is just as good as the original one in MPK. So glad they are expanding to this 2nd location. I didn't even need to glance at the menu, went straight for 1 grilled chicken and 2 roast pork sandwiches. This spot is takeout-only, but there are a few benches and they offer iced tea while you wait. My order was ready in about 5-7 minutes, and it was just as delicious when I got home. The roast pork comes in a generous portion and it's juicy, tender, topped with pickled veggies and a sweet soy sauce. I love their smart packaging with a vented top, which lets out steam so the bread stays perfectly crisp. That's a sure sign the food is freshly cooked. Street parking is available right out front.

For $9, I was expecting this to be incredibly good but it was so bland. They took over where Happy Bakery used to be. Whenever I walk by, it always looks empty so I decided to give it a try because maybe it could be a hidden gem. I read reviews before I came and see that it is the second location of their Monterey Park location. The reviews said it was good so I had high hopes. The prices are a lot higher, they also charge extra if you want extra anything, which most places usually give you for free. Service is not that friendly either. Their packaging is also not sanitary. They put it in a box with a cut out, so it's not fully wrapped. They also give a side of umami sauce, which is a first time thing for a banh mi shop. I ordered the special (dac biet) and the meat looked a lot more high quality than I'm used to. There was actual pieces of pork belly. They are pretty skimpy with their cilantro. The size of the bread is like a short baguette. The bread itself is nice and crispy. Even though there was plenty of pate and mayo, the sandwich was really flavorless. The umami sauce added saltiness but the flavor doesn't really enhance the sandwich since soy sauce tastes weird with banh mi. Overall, I was really disappointed with cost and the sandwich itself. I don't mind paying more for a better quality sandwich but not if it is smaller and less delicious. There are also at least three or more Vietnamese sandwiches places within a block or two away so unfortunately this place is not it. Saigon Bakery is way better and less expensive. Banh Mi Che Cali is also better and more budget friendly. Even Mr. Lee is better and less expensive.

I looove the crispy pork belly (heo quay) banh mi so much, I haven't tried the others just because the crispy pork melts in your mouth and the baguette is so crisp & fluffy. I've had it a few times and it's been consistent every time. I'm not usually a fan of heo quay because I don't like when it's too chewy/tough, but it's so crispy and buttery here! The cashier was also super friendly and offered me a cold iced tea while I was waiting since it was so hot that day :)

Lance H.

Service-excellent, fast and friendly. I went out for my walk and just noticed they just opened, so I had to stop and try. The sandwiches were put in a box that allows the steam to vent so the bread was perfect when I got home. The pork belly was perfectly cooked and had that great crunch to it. Now I know where I can stop and pick up my breakfast, going to have to try the other meats!

They're on vacation. Will try when they get back March 9

The total for everything plus tax came out to $25.91. These were the items I got: Banh Mi Cha Lua w/ paté: Not the worst cha lua w/ pate I had. It was pretty standard. The bread was super crumbly and became difficult to keep together at some point. 3/5 Banh Mi Ga: Shredded chicken sandwich...also wasn't bad. Rather traditional tasting and it wasn't dry. Bread didn't fall apart, which was nice. 3.5/5 stars Goi Cuon: The OG summer roll was pretty fresh. Shrimp wasn't fishy and the pork slice wasn't overly tough. The dipping sauce was a little too thick for my liking, but it was still edible. 3.5/5 stars Paté Sol: Ground chicken & woodear mushrooms baked in puff pastry. It's ok, but not the best I've had. 3/5 stars Even though the yelp page says it's cash-only, they do take credit cards now, but the purchase needs to be $15+ Free parking is available on site.

The beef pho meat pie definitely had the pho flavors and aromatics. This was absolutely delicious! The Popcorn Pork was good, not as aromatic as the pho pie. The flavor was lacking on the Taiwanese popcorn chicken basil flavor that it claimed. It reminded me more of a Vietnamese meat pie (pate chaud), which is peppery with a smoother texture that this one did not have, but it was still flavorful. The bread pudding was good but the texture was more dense reminding me of a banana bread loaf. I didn't care for the dollop of yogurt on top, which took away from the flavor of the bread pudding itself. Hubby said the Classic Aussie was good but was expensive for the size of the sandwich (small burger size). Hubby got the Long Black coffee which was good, but sadly my iced matcha latte was lacking in the matcha flavor. It was very pale in color and tasted mostly of milk. Service was quick and friendly.
