Very good food I would return.. big portions. We had a great time with friends ..... next time getting the crispy chicken basil.

Amazing Fresh Rolls packed well and full! The peanut sauce is delicious! The Thai Iced Tea was perfect - right amount of spice leveled out by the right amount of cream. The Pad Kee Mao had more of a brown (soy?) sauce type of base so the chili was not as prominent (not my personal favorite for this dish) and there could have been more veggies, but they did include a very good amount of Thai basil and the tofu was wonderfully cooked so I enjoyed it. Server was very friendly and attentive even though it was a busy concert night and he had every table in the place to handle himself. Very impressive. read more

Huge portions, good flavor, and fast service. We ordered pad see ew and panang curry. The spices in the pad se ew were a little raw, but the noodles had a nice texture. The panang curry was good but not that spicy. The fried tofu was cooked well. We got our food to go and it was still hot when we picked it up. There's seating inside with fun decor. read more

I like coming here for the Ambience more than anything. It's a laid back place with good decors around and gives the relaxed vibes. I like the food generally but the curry fried rice has been reducing in quality - I felt the spices were raw and not well cooked. I wanted to love this dish because I gave two chances and both the times were not the best version they used to make. I will get the regular fried rice or padkeemau next time both are good here. Finally the service is warm and accommodating. She genuinely loved serving my son and gave complimentary dessert when he finished his food, which was sweet. I will come again - just that curry fried rice lost its quality/taste it used to :-/ read more

Bangkok Basil is a small, cute restaurant on the Eastside with solid Thai food. We arrived on a rainy day weekend so the restaurant was fairly empty. The spaceis nicely decorated with lots of paintings and tapestry on the wall, making the space warm and welcoming. Food: We got roast duck curry and swimming rama noodles. Roast duck curry: the curry was tasty, the duck was well-prepared, it was not too crispy but doesn't affect the taste of the dish. Swimming rama noodle: the wide stir-fried noodles combined with the peanut sauce was very delicious. Service: service was fast, our server was very nice and cheerful, definitely made our rainy day better! read more

Small restaurant with a cozy and intimate atmosphere. Free parking is easy in the lot but during traffic time could be hard to enter or leave the lot. Service is okay nothing to rave about and nothing to complain about. Food is tasty and great portions but a bit on the pricier side. We ordered the calamari for an appetizer which is about $10. The calamari was not bad but was different. This calamari was giving onion rings.... lol literally looked like onion rings and the breading tastes like onion rings. Wouldn't order the calamari again, probably would recommend skipping that. For the main entree I ordered the Pad Thai add prawns and spice level 3. The Pad Thai is about $18 and to add prawns it was $5 dollars more, so definitely on the pricier side. I've had great Pad Thai at lower prices elsewhere so this was a bit pricy in my opinion. The flavor and spice were super tasty but I did have to ask for lime since I didn't receive any like most places give. The waitress only gave me one slice when I asked for multiple... I was very appreciative of the large portions though as I had leftovers for later that evening. If I return I would order a spice level 4 as I love spicy and it wasn't spicy enough tbh. Food and atmosphere is enjoyable. Don't see myself returning or going out of my way to come here tbh but it's an okay spot in the Redmond area if you're craving Thai food. read more

I just moved back to the PNW after 5 years away. This was the first meal that I ate out. How come the Thai food here is so vastly superior than elsewhere? Blows my mind. My wife's pad woon sen were the best noodles I've had in 5 years. The yellow curry noodles were a banger as well and such a big portion that two people split it and we still had leftovers. Even the chicken satay was markedly superior than out of state. Not to mention the space was very nicely decorated with hand-drawn signs in warm colors advertising their intriguing specials (avocado green curry, crab pad thai etc). 3 adults and a toddler spent less than $60 and had leftovers. I would love to come back. read more

This is my first time at Bangkok basil. I ordered Pad Kee Mao, Chicken satay and banana coconut milk. Pad Kee Mao (beef with 5* spicy) - excellent taste, beef was little over cooked but over all tasted excellent. Quantity - good for 1 Chicken Stay - got 4 skews with peanut sauce and cucumber dipped with some sweet sauce. It was good. Quantity - good for 1 or 2 Banana in coconut milk - surprise desert at the end. Good and tasty. Quantity - good for 2 Service was great Ambience was pleasing. Definitely recommend read more

The pad Thai is orange which usually means there's ketchup in it. The fresh rolls were okay, but small. The peanut sauce was good. Don't think we'll be back. read more

We had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. First, our order was taken incorrectly, and when we asked for it to be corrected, it still came out wrong and extremely spicy, even though we asked for mild. Because of the poor service and food, we chose not to leave a tip. Shockingly, the one staff came over and pressured us to leave one. When we refused and explained that we were not satisfied, he reacted very unprofessionally and made an offensive gesture toward us. read more

Going to this restaurant, you are prioritizing food over everything else. This is a small family run authentic Thai restaurant. You smell the aromas of Thai food as soon as you step in. You will see this old Asian lady play host, waitor, receptionist, and bus boy. It is quite impressive but this also means you will have bad service when they are busy. A lot of people order take out and I could see why. It took her 20 mins to take our order and I saw another table leave when they sat waiting for 20 mins. The food is very good and authentic. It was very reasonably priced as well. Decor was cute, clean, and smell. I would recommend going during a non busy time or ordering take out. read more

I really doubt there is another place in Redmond matching the stature of Bangkok Basil when it comes to taste. The Thai Egg rolls were similar to spring rolls and were delicious. Pad Kee Mao was yummy - got 5/5 spicy - well it wasn't that hot tbh. Banana with Coconut milk was an interesting dessert. I know they make Mango with Sticky rice the best but that's seasonal. So I opted to try this out. Service was surprisingly quick this time. Ambience is average. read more

A cute mom-pop shop in a strip mall near the highway on ramp. We had passed by this place a bunch of times while driving and made a point to go recently. I'm glad we did! The interior is warmly decorated albeit a bit small. Although we weren't greeted right away, we were seated promptly. There was a large party taking up half the seats and it seemed like there may have only been a few people working; we only saw the hostess on the floor and heard one voice coming from the kitchen. As we had our dinner, more people joined the group and a solo diner got a table behind us. We each ordered an entree and got pot stickers to share. Our guest hadn't only eaten at one Thai restaurant in his life so he ordered what he had before. As this was a new-to-us place, we also ordered our staples as a litmus test. Pot Stickers: Classic dumplings with a zippy vinaigrette. Tom Yum Soup: Our friend said the flavor was good but it was different from what he anticipated - he thought his order would come with noodles. As he was our guest, we encouraged him to order a side of them to add to his soup, but he declined. Pad Kee Mao: Surprisingly flavorful since considering I ordered this not spicy (I didn't even say 1 star). Generous portion and a decent amount of vegetables and tofu. The noodles could have been crispier, but they overall experience positive. Red Curry: My husband's order, which I can't recall the feedback... BUT he did eat it all. I'll come back to this. read more

I had a craving for pad see yew on a Sunday night so decided to try a top rated nearby Thai place. Bangkok Basil was unfortunately and surprisingly out of pad see yew, so I decided to try chicken pad Thai instead. Ordering over the phone and pick up was easy. Plenty of parking in the strip mall as other businesses were closed. Food was packaged well. I returned for chicken pad see yew a week or so later. I wound up liking the pad Thai better than their pad see yew. The pad Thai was simple and traditional with quality ingredients and plenty of flavor. The pad see yew had fine ingredients as well, but was light on the noodles and the sauce lacked the same punch I was used to. Overall BB is a good choice for quality Thai with efficient service and reasonable prices. read more

Bangkok Basil is located at a busy street corner/strip-mall in Redmond. While we dined-in, there were only one other table eating there the entire time. Every customer did take-out only, and there were many, many take-out orders. The place is small with maybe 10 tables. It's moderately decorated on top of older looking furniture. It is sufficient for a mom & pop type of neighborhood restaurant. Only one lady serviced the dining room; I suspect they know their business is mostly take-out. She was amicably sufficient. The menu has all the typical and expected dishes, except one. If there is anything unusual, I am ordering it! The prices seem comparable, but they have higher upcharges for prawns (+$5), seafood (+$6), and sub-Brown Rice ($3.50, yikes!). The place I normally go to (7 minutes away) charges prawns (+$3), seafood (+$5), and brown rice ($0.00!!!). These three are all important to me in a Thai menu. This might explain why I have ignored them for years. The Food: Avocado Curry with Tofu, 4-star spicy, $19.95 - 4.5 Stars This is the one less common dish on the menu. Other places have it, but definitely less common. Chunks of avocado is added to a typical green curry. Green curry has a sharper taste than yellow and red, but the creamy avocado nullifies it nicely. Yummy dish. I would have wanted brown rice, but I sure am not paying $3.50 for it. Roast Duck Curry, $22.95 - 4 Stars Boneless piece of duck in a red curry sauce. It met expectations. Pad See-Ew with chicken, $17.95 - 3.5 Stars The noodles are way overcooked and lifeless. However, the dish has good wok-hei and good flavor. I am giving them a passing grade. read more

Service was great and attentive -- everyone was friendly and made sure we were taken care of. The Thai fried rice was cooked to perfection, flavorful and perfectly balanced. We stopped by a few weeks ago after visiting the area, and it was so good that we came back two weeks later. The food was just as delicious the second time around! My wife had the chicken Pad Thai, and it was phenomenal -- full of flavor and perfectly cooked. This place is consistently great and definitely worth coming back to! This was our go-to place in the Redmond area. Not too far from downtown Redmond and in the general area where we were staying. We ate in one night and then two nights later we ordered DoorDash pick up which was convenient since it was on the way back from downtown Seattle. The portions looked deceptively small but upon eating there was plenty for two servings so that worked out nicely. I had the stir fry ginger which was full of vegetables. We picked up the fresh wraps with tofu which were good with peanut sauce included. The mango rice was also well received. The business is small very few tables (they do a lot of take out) but very cozy and tastefully decorated for the holidays. The service was quick and I was surprised how fast the food came up. They get high marks for fast and tasty. I'll be back again when in the area. read more

So. Delicious. Everything on the menu is amazing! Just eat it! Shut up and eat it!! Really, this place is one of the places I go to so often that I should have a membership card. The place is small and always busy, even at odd hours you're rarely alone. I most often do take-out though as the location is not really in a "stumbled in while out walking" place. Their pad see-ew is particularly good. If you like your Thai food spicy you'll have to remember to order at the highest spice-level here (5) or else you'll be disappointed as anything below 4 is barely noticeable as heat on your tongue. read more

Great local spot for Thai food. It has a relatively quaint atmosphere and seems like a great lesser-known spot. One of my offices requested Bangkok Basil for lunch, and I was so impressed with the service and recommendations from the staff I ordered my family dinner a few hours later. Customer service was fantastic, I greatly appreciate how Ann checks to ensure every item orders is within the to go bag. I was also able to customize each dish per preferences within the online ordering portal. My husband really enjoyed his sweet and sour chicken, unlike most Bangkok Basil doesn't add a batter to fry the chicken making it better to serve with the rice. The pad Thai was really good, filled with flavor and vegetables. I will definitely return, and highly recommend. read more

Solid Thai restaurant in Redmond, located directly off the 405 freeway. Their interior is super cozy, staff was super friendly. I ordered take out, pork pad see ew and the beef Bangkok Basil. Overall both dishes were solid but, I wish I would have upped the spice to 5 stars. I got both dishes at 3 stars which is always my go to first time level to gauge the restaurant's spice levels. There was little to no spice so for upcoming orders I will be requesting 5+ stars Good food, wholesome friendly staff, and it feels family owned which I also love Definitely give them a visit if you're in the area! read more

I really wish I could give this place 4 stars, but the price is really holding me back. I honestly enjoyed the food and it felt very comforting and homey to me. The crispy garlic chicken isn't like the typical crispy garlic chicken you find at other Thai restaurants because this one is more of a saucey dish. Still tasted good though. The biggest letdown was the price. I can't justify paying so much money for small portions :/ read more

I have been to this place a few times for lunch and quick early dinner. Food is very tasty and does a good job satisfying the craving for thai food. Oh man, where do I start? This really is the best. I feel like I was transported back to my days in Bangkok! We ordered tamarind prawns, pad Thai, green curry, and a Thai iced tea. The tamarind prawns were not memorable, tasted like coconut shrimp but w/ tamarind. However, even though the tamarind prawns were a skip, the rest of the dishes were bursting with flavor. Love the ambiance and the service was exceptional! They are so friendly! They even gave us an extra spring roll for free with smiles. I probably could eat here everyday if I could! At 6:40pm I put in a pretty large order for pickup at 7:15pm. The Duck Curry, Yellow Curry, Thai Fried Rice, 2 Pad Thais, and Calamari. The order was ready for pick up at 7:50pm. I didn't mind it as my friends arrived around 8 (so it was perfect timing) but might want to keep that in mind when you're ordering. The packaging was perfect, nothing spilled or tipped over. And as I took the food home as soon as it was brought out, the food was nice and warm still when we ate it. I only tried the Thai fried rice and the pad Thai. The sauce was not too overwhelming, at parts I felt like the noodles could've been more coated with sauce. But I much preferred it to the other option which is the noodles drowning in sauce and oil. The dish felt clean and I enjoyed it a lot :) The Thai fried rice was good as well. Well seasoned, and delicious. Their portions are large. I ate my pad Thai for dinner, lunch and dinner again. I'd definitely come here again read more

A small Thai place that is run super efficiently and serves great food! Came to this place on a weekday evening and they had so many togo orders and almost all table were full. I was still able to get my food super fast I was impressed at how smoothly one person was managing everything from taking orders, serving food to taking phone and to-go orders Good selection of vegetarian items in their menu. . They can pretty much make things without fish sauce. They ask you to specify the spice level - we chose a 3/5 for our dishes. Tried their red tofu Thai curry and Tom kha noodles The tofu Thai curry was delicious ! Had great flavors- 5/5. It was served with a side of rice . The curry had good portion size however the rice that came with the food could use a bigger serving. Also tried their Tom kha noodle soup which is traditionally a spicy sour coconut soup- the soup was a 3.5/5- I felt like it was missing the lime notes: . We also tried their Thai ice tea- it was decent but could use a little less ice All in all good place. Looking forward to trying more items in the menu. read more

I love Thai food and I love finding new places that really bring the flavor and spice! My husband and I were on a Saturday morning adventure and stopped here in Redmond wanting to have Thai food. Bangkok Basil offers a wide variety of Thai dishes with spice levels ranging from 1 to 5. The parking was very easy and lots of space. The inside decor was unique and I loved that! The server was super friendly! My personal favorite was the green curry with chicken! It had so much chicken and veggies and the portions definitely were big enough to keep you full for a while!
