We, of course, sampled more Canadian beer and poutine! The chicken poutine was not something I thought I would order, but it was on special and why not? The Chicken Poutine is incredible and full of flavors that are out of this world. We shared the chicken poutine and I loved Kevin's Beef Dip and we shared a side of the traditional poutine - so good. Melty cheese curds, delicious and hot fries and the gravy...take me back right now! The fish and chips were yummy and light and the perfect lunch portion. We loved our visit to Rose & Crown and it's definitely some of the very best food we had in Banff!

Okay so the views from the rooftop are great, but the rooftop is ROWDY. I'm in my twenties and…read moredidn't want to spend my evening with so many twenty year olds. It seems like quite the après ski spot, but I don't think any of the people there actually went skiing that day. It was basically a huge frat party on the rooftop with canned beer for purchase and a DJ. If you're looking for a nice, classy spot to watch the sunset - this is not it. We were crammed in the corner next to their barricaded section of the rooftop and didn't stick around longer than it took us to finish the drinks we bought downstairs.

I visited Bear Street Tavern based off of a recommendation by a coworker. Beer and pizza is usually…read morea winning combination and Bear Street Tavern is a great example of this. Admittedly, I'm not much of a drinker but I'll have some once in a while and Bear Street seems to have a pretty good selection. I tried a Vietnamese Coffee Stout which I enjoyed. I'm definitely more of an eater than I am a drinker and the eats at Bear Street Tavern are excellent. My party got 2 pizzas and a salad and we enjoyed it all. To start we got the Tavern Bowl. It's a bunch of different vegetables with a Tahini Miso Dressing and kimchi on top. All the different textures and flavors worked really well together and the salad served as a nice break between bites of pizza. The Wheeler Hut pizza has mushrooms, ricotta, truffle oil, pesto, and mozzarella. If you're a fan of truffle flavor you'll enjoy this pizza. As soon as it was brought out I could already smell the truffle. The Mediterranean has olives, feta cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, artichokes, red onions, chili flakes, spinach, mozzarella, and balsamic glaze. A little busier than the Wheeler Hut, but it was equally delicious. I'm not sure which pizza I liked more. Both pizzas had a fantastic crust with some char. Substantial enough to stand up to the toppings but still a little doughy for a nice chew. The char gives a nice crunch as well. Service is quick and friendly and the prices are fair, especially in a tourist area. I definitely recommend Bear Street Tavern.

They have a bar and a few TVs. I ordered their Post Burger, which came with a huge pile of fries. I liked our server, even though he forgot I had asked for a salad instead of fries and he had to be reminded we wanted a to go box for my wife's pizza. It's worth noting that this is a double smash burger. The poutine side with the burger was well put together, the fries were crispy and well salted. The fried brussel sprouts on the other hand were a little bit of a confusing dish. This dish is surprisingly quite light on brussel sprouts and seems almost more like it's meant to be a salad. In addition, while the sprouts are fried and crispy, the same cannot be said for the bacon. Overall, I'd like to see more Brussels, crispy bacon to better crumble around the sprouts and less arugula. The burnt ends were a pretty good dish but were little tougher than I would normally expect from a pice of meat like that and had a texture more similar to rib caps instead of brisket. They also didn't seem to have been smoked on a smoker and just had a smokey glaze instead. I really liked the vibe of this place, it's a very relaxed environment to come and unwind at after a long day out in the parks. There's a semi-private outdoor patio with plenty of seating and good spacing between the tables. I also really thought that the service here was great, the staff were all amazing and super friendly. Everything I ordered was brought out quickly and my glasses were always refilled without me even having to ask.
