This place is the one I frequently visited during my time in Norway. Surprise surprise (or not) this place serves really good sushi, and at affordable price. I went to Bambu several times when i was in norway working. All i can say is the ambiance is pretty good and welcoming. Once you get in you get greeted and seated. The menu had pictures which is good because its in norwegian. However once the food came it didnt matter cause it was pretty good. They dont have the "american" style inventive rolls but sashimis were real good and fresh. Specially the salmon. The tuna was OK. They also have other asian type dishes which is more chinese than japanese. Cant complain if your in the middle of northern europe buried in knee deep snow! read more

Bambus was our take-away of choice in town for long, but after eating here we've landed on a final rating. The sushi is in my opinion among the best in the Oslo area, easily comparable to the 'big fish' (pun unintended) sushi places like Alex Sushi. After sampling food outside the sushi menu too - we had the crispy duck on our most recent visit - the food alone would be enough for this place to net that 5/5 rating. The atmosphere here seems relaxed and informal, accomodating most types of groups and ages. Bambus doesn't strive to be overly fancy, and would have no reason to either. I happened by Bambus for dinner on a Tuesday night. There were three of us that walked in and even though it seemed fairly crowded we had no trouble getting a table. I was a bit put off by the amount of time it took for the waiter to ask us for our drink orders. It probably took him about 15 minutes and a lot of stare downs lol! The crispy duck appetizer was great and plentiful. It must have been half a duck! It comes with some fresh julianned veggies and these little wrappers that remind me of tortillas but I'm not sure what they're called. I had the chicken satay and it was also tasty. The vegetables that accompanied it were fresh (not frozen) which was great but I noticed that there was no variation to the vegetables between the three types of hot dishes that we got. Each had snap peas, mushrooms and bell peppers. Not a big deal, just a bit surprising given the sort of upscale feel to the cuisine. Overall the food was good and service was so-so. The sushi seem initially fresh when I ate there. The modern decor and efficient service were pleasant. Nevertheless, I had some stomach issues after eating at this place. Thus, I never came back and can't recommend this restaurant. read more

An eclectic mix of Japanese, Chinese, Thai and Vietnamese. Clean and inviting. I ordered Penang curry for main course and sushi for appetizer. They were both tasty. They did not have hot sauce! Perhaps, generally speaking, Norwegians don't like hot food. read more

Ate at this restaurant on Sunday evening 6/25/17. The restaurant was full but only had 2 waitresses. Waited for 5 minutes before being acknowledged at the door. After being seated, it took them more than 10 minutes to order. Then we waited for a very long time for the food. The food was good, service not so much.
