This was my first time at a Bambu but I heard about it from a friend who loves their drinks. I know this place is meant to be a che place (or at least it's known for their desserts) but I ordered a black milk tea anyways - something I always get at drink places. The tapioca pearls were good and this Bambu was generous with them. The milk tea was pretty good. It had a slight floral aroma to it that I didn't like though, maybe it's the tea they use. Aside from the drinks, the service I got was spectacular. I came here with a friend's mom who didn't know anything about Bambu, so she was asking the cashier about their drinks and her kids didn't know what they wanted either. Despite the growing long line that was starting to head out the door, the cashier was very friendly and did not rush us at all but rather answered all questions with genuine smiles. Before BAMBU's came around, the only places to grab some good Vietnamese dessert were Huong Lan or Lee's Sandwich. But now when I'm craving some Vietnamese dessert, BAMBU is the place to go! My favorite is their mashed avocado which is slightly sweet with different jellies and bobas in it. Or if I'm feeling something refreshing, I grab the #1 which has some coconut meat, jellies, and chia seeds in it. Perfect for the summer. Since I'm from Sacramento, there is a BAMBU there, however I enjoy this location a lot better because of the atmosphere with the huge TV. They're always playing some good music too so it's fun while I wait for my drinks/desserts. Wouldn't recommend for a big party to come here since the place is so small with limited seats and tables. read more

This place is basically like a tapioca express but replaced with CHE. You can ask anyone that knows me, I hate Che! My mom took me here as a mother and daughter quality time kind of thing. I went. I have no clue what she ordered but it was good. It had this slippery green sluggish thing, very good. LOL. I swear, take my word for it. It had coconut milk in it, with clear jelly. If only i had a dime for every time i don't bring cash here lol. I always get the durian smoothie or the tre thai. this place can sometimes be a hit or miss. Ive ordered the same things everytime i come, and 1 out of 10 times my drink was bland like water. but its rare. They serve macaron ice cream here too but I've never tried. I've been to Bambu many times, but in Cupertino and Sunnyvale. Cupertino location is the best! Sunnyvale is $1 more, but this one really isn't consistent with the others. First of all, waaaaay to much ice!! Half of my #6 dessert was pure ice, so much that it tasted like water after a couple of stirs. Didn't have enough fruit, jelly, or coconut milk. As you can see in the pic, Che is a murky off white color. Why? Because it's all melted ice and no dessert. Dessert should be full cup, with a ball of ice on top w/ lid. FYI: This place is cash only so don't bring any plastic! There is a wide variety of drinks here and they are all relatively good. The number 2 and 3 are my go to drinks. They have always been made very quickly and very good. A lot of beans, jellies, Pandan, and the typical fair. Took two stars off as the cashier was very rude when my girlfriend wanted to give her change to offset the amount of coins in her wallet. The cashier gave a snark response and was very rude about the whole ordeal. She almost seemed pissed that it happened. Not bad at all. Stopped by this place after "Goldilocks" on my way back down to LA. Really tried to refuse to get anymore Boba during my 4days trip to North Cal but I gave in 4times. The place is pretty new, I would guess been around a year or 2. Did a drive by so didn't "chill" at the spot for that long. However the drink was great, I forgot what I ordered but it was something like a coffee snow drink. I ordered the drink extra trick, and I got the drink just the way I wanted it. I dunno why most of the boba places just doesn't know who to make the drink more trick without totally killing it. Also the Boba here was pretty fresh too. FYI, Bambu serves Che (Vietnamese desserts) and various types of drinks (Milk tea, coffee, smoothies, etc). Che can be usually found in Vietnamese restaurants or fast food shops but Bambu was the first shop to pioneer this and really drive the Vietnamese dessert delight concept! Food/Drinks: A- Based on the Special Bambu, Che 3 Mau (3 Colored Che), Thai Milk Tea, and Milk Tea. The Che here is FABULOUS! You get a quality Che in a huge cup and most of the time, my family and I NEVER ever finish the huge cup of goodness. There are so many varieties (20+) of Che on their menu, you can always find something right for you! You can also modify any order to exactly what you want as well. The beans, jelly, and sweetened liquids mix just right for you to say YUM! As for the milk teas, since they are a Che specialty store, their milk teas are pretty decent! The milk teas also come in the same cup size as the che and taste very milky (which I personally like). Their tapioca pearls however leave more for me to desire. The pearls aren't sweetened so if you aren't huge fans of pearls in the first place, don't bother getting it here. Location/Ambiance: B Located right in the middle of Aborn and King! :) Bambu is inside this Asian plaza next to Maxim Market and Goldilocks. Bambu is a great place to get drinks and che but I would never go to this Bambu again. 4/5 time I've been there, my orders were always wrong and the person who took my order always argue that I was the one who made the mistake. Really? 4/4 time, the same woman always argue that it was my fault. Just say you're sorry and accept your mistake instead of blaming it on others because I know i didn't mess it up and I had my sister to vouch for me. I know I'm not the only one who experience this because my brother and friends goes there often and it happen to them. There is no need for attitude. Typical Vietnamese dessert place. The place is brand spanking new and its very small but why would you need a big place for dessert. I got #5 (avocado, dark brick jello) and over all it was pretty good. The avocado wasn't made into a typical smoothie consistency but a mashed up version of it. I've only seen this at aroma cafe. The cashier was very friendly and my che(dessert) was made quickly. If you live in east side san jose its definitely worth a stop. read more

Bambu is my favorite place for che. The sisters who started this business should be credited with bringing che to the mass as they have made it more mainstream. It's pricey at $4 a pop but it's so worth the extra couple of bucks. I really like this location as it does not get as busy as the one off Brokaw and they also sell these uber-cute hearts handmade from ribbons. My favorites are the Bambu Special #1 (it has a little bit of everything, including pandan jelly, coconut, longan and basil seeds), the Avocado special (it's a very filling and rich drink so it's best on a half-empty stomach) and the Iced Hazelnut Coffee with bricks. read more

I was craving an avocado smoothie with boba and I didn't know where to go so I came here! I usually get it at Pop Up but it was too far. I ordered it and it was super creamy and delicious. From what I can tell they do use real avocado in the smoothie! Other drinks that I usually order here is the #1 and #10 (sorry I dont remember whats in them), but they usually come with pandan jelly, grass jelly, the red jelly, and mung beans.Overall a great chain viet dessert place when you have your che or boba cravings! read more

Parking here can be a hassle because all of the bad drivers in this plaza (lol), but the drinks/che itself are pretty good here. I usually get the Jasmine Milk Green tea with lychee jelly. I like it because you can actually taste the tea, instead of it being watered down or too milky. I would just be careful because this is one of the few bubble teas that actually make me stay up at night. Their dessert is also really good! I actually think this place sells the best Che in the area. I switch between a Number 7 which has basil seed and Logan, and I get it with coconut juice...or I get a number or I get a number 10 which has panda jelly, grass jelly, and red tapioca. If you don't want to eat your dessert right away, you can always ask for the ice on the side that way you can enjoy it with the yummy crushed ice, haha. **I believe there is a minimum for card too, so make sure you have cash on hand. read more

I swear I am addicted to their fresh coconut juice with logan. It's a super delicious combo. If you like sweet, vanilla, and logan you should try the dried logan with fresh coconut juice. It's super delicious. I usually opt for the Fresh coconut juice with canned logan instead because it's less sweet. The dried logan with fresh coconut has stronger flavors and is really fragrant of logan. But since I like the taste of fresh coconut juice more I get the canned logan. You should try it 50/50 if you want the best of both worlds. DELICIOUS ON A HOT DAY, FYI. As for their Che, you should try it for yourself. I have really high standards for Che because my grandma makes really good che, she also use to buy me Che Hien Khanh from Westminster as I was growing up. So it's hard to top that. Bambu makes all of their che in advance and puts it in the fridge which I feel like combining all the ingredients at once makes the consistency and contents dry and lack integrity of its true flavors. Something I do like is their mung bean with grass jelly. :D YUMMY! Overall, Bambu is pretty good for San Jose. I am glad that it's close to home and I don't have to drive all the way to Hostetter to get my Che fix. I highly recommend their fresh coconut juice che combinations. P.S. CASH ONLY. The boss/manager is so mean, customer service is too bad. I ordered one smash avocado. On the menu, the rainbow jelly was not listed in this drink. Why go to a regular boba or tea shop where you can get a little bit more variety here. They have Vietnamese drinks here, which stands out compared to the rest of the other drink shops. And it's healthy too. Finally got my first Vietnamese dessert drink that came with coconuts, pandan jelly, and longan basil seeds. Lot's of big words, but I think they're all healthy. Of all the Bambu locations in NorCal, it sucks that I live next to this one. LOL My favorite one was the first location in Milpitas on Hostetter. When Bambu opened near my house I was quite ecstatic that I didn't have to drive 20 minutes to get dessert, but after being here I'm a little disappointed. The Bambu Special that they make here is way too sweet and artificial. It's still good, but I've had better (in Milpitas and even SoCal!). Also, when my dessert came out, it was clearly layered with - pandan jelly, basil seeds, and coconut shavings on top. I had to mix it up-- and you know how when you order pho, the noodles are kind of hard to separate at first? well, this was what it felt like mixing up the pandan jelly. -___- Not that I want to be a snob about this or anything.. but it just bothers me. There is a very wide selection (when I say wide, I mean 50+ choices!) of che. Although I think that wide selection is good, the menu can be overwhelming with its 4832048234 items and small font. This is not my go to spot for che, but I'll come here if my friends want. I always get the ba mau, thap cam, or the avocado one. They taste alright, but everything that I have had here was overly sweet (despite me always asking for less coconut milk and sugar syrup). The prices per cup is $3-$4, which is more than what most places charge for che, but the portions are much larger here. However, I think that the portion is TOO large. I wish that there was a "small" option. I can never finish an order of che here, which sucks because it needs to be eaten right away or else you'll get a watery mess. The store is clean but I think that the service here is pretty bad. Some of the girls working here can be very rude and impatient. It's a good location though.
