My all time favorite Vietnamese dessert go to spot in San Jose, so when I Yelped a place for desserts nearby in Sactown, I saw the name and had to make to trek there to show my Sac friends what's up! Much more spacious than the location in SJ that I am used to. Love that they had quite a few tables and chairs around versus the two tables and bar stools at the SJ location that I normally go to. Favorite Drinks in order of my preference: 1. Suong Sa Hot Luu w/mung bean: My all time fav Vietnanese dessert. Pink water chestnut tapioca pearls (love that they have water chestnut, most places just make it without and chewy), grass jelly (love!), pandan and clear jelly, and coconut milk. Get it with mung bean, more flavor and less bland. Trust me! 2. Bambu Special: basil seeds (looks like eyeballs to me), young coconut pieces, pandan jelly, longan and coconut juice. Refeshing and cool on a nice summer day or any day if you want a picker upper. 3. Che 3 Mau: 3 types of beans, pandan jelly, clear tapioca, and taro in coconut milk. Very rich and filling for me, but it's pretty good compared to other places that serve and sell this dessert. Service is quick and they have so many options of dessert and drinks to choose from. For the price of a Starbucks frap, you get a cup full of awesome. For the first-timer, the menu is a little intimidating. Fear not; just get the dessert #1. It's got a little of everything, and these little tapioca/jelly strands that are unique and tasty! They normally put ice on top, but I don't bother with it. I just ask them to leave it off because I don't want the flavors to be watered down. It's cold without it! There's seating, and it's normally pretty comfortable. Maybe not when it gets too crowded with the younger kids, but that's everywhere... The service is quick (well, they just scoop things into a cup, so it better be quick) and usually friendly, or at least not unfriendly. Just order, give them your cash, and wait two minutes. My mom, who loves her traditional Vietnamese desserts and sweet soups, was a little put off at first. Finally an Asian dessert in Sacramento that is not too far of a drive. =) If you don't know what I am talking about go to this place and check it out. I love red bean and this little shop menu is full with it. My first impression is its a small, well decorated little coffee shop. After I look at the menu I feel like I was in heaven. Red bean all over the menu, so hard to decide what I want. Red bean with jelly. Oh no wait, regular red bean mix with the large and regular size. Oh no wait, the three color red bean mix. Oh wait just the regular is what I went with after 10minutes of pondering. I can't wait to taste this and feel like I was on top of the world. Yes, for once a red bean dessert that meets the criteria. Most places used can coconut in their dessert. But WOW, this place uses fresh coconut. You can just taste the difference. It's the ultimate boba and Vietnamese ché drink cafe. The fruit smoothies are made from real fruit (not powder) as is the tarot. The boba texture is not the best (a little too soft and not slightly sweet and chewy like I like it) but as far as variety - ya can't beat it. They opened one in Vegas and now Phoenix- sadly not San Diego (yet?). My favorites are a mix of the classic ché drinks (longan fruit, different jellies including red jelly, young coconut, Basil seed) and of course boba. It's like a meal replacement. Plain and simple this place is damn addicting. #1 with extra Pandan Jelly and you're good to go. This place keeps up with the tradition of Asian businesses and accepts CASH ONLY. Despite this inconvenience, yes, I still frequent them. Many ask why they dont have a frequent buyers card, I say at the rate they sell their drinks they'd somehow lose money giving that much free drinks away. Mmm.... I've always liked che (Vietnamese desserts) while I was growing up, but I never really LOVED it. Now that Bambu is around, I could probably eat it all the time. Luckily for my waistline, I live far enough from all of their locations to prevent me from making a trip to Bambu a weekly (or daily) ritual. Their #1 Bambu Special Che is delicious!! Coconut juice with basil seeds, pandan jelly (SO GOOD), longan, and pieces of fresh coconut. Super refreshing, and not overwhelmingly sweet. My go-to drink. The avocado shake is also superb here. For those who have never had an avocado shake, its basically smashed avocado that has been sweetened up a bit, served with boba. Its super thick and really heavy, so I always have to ask for a cup of ice on the side so I can mix it in as I'm eating it. Three color drink is always a good option as well. CASH ONLY!! read more

Pretty good bolba place but they are CASH ONLY! They do, however, offer patrons a WIDE VARIETY of drinks and Vietnamese desserts so everyone goes home happy! My favorites include: the BAMBU Special which is my FIRST CHOICE (coconut, pandan jelly, longan, and basil seeds--soo yummy and not overly sweet) and the Chè trái cây dessert ( lychee, longan, red tapioca, jackfruit, palm seed, pandan jelly, jello, and young coconut). Prices are standard for bolba drinks and usually range anywhere from $4-$6. The place is very clean and small. A lot of younger people usually hang out around here at night and it can get loud at times. Service was great and I didn't have to wait long for my drinks. Hi, my name is Angela, and I am a che-holic. I've just recently become a che addict and it's starting to become a problem. I will drive the 20+ minutes to get here just for a cup of this awesome dessert. I will make up excuses about getting groceries at SF Supermarket just so I'll be in the area. I will bribe and blackmail my friends into coming with me and convince them that they love che too. I always get the number 4 dessert without the jello (jello with a hard texture is weird to me) and I am the happiest person for the rest of the day. I'm not a fan of super sugary drinks, but the perfect amount of ice added to the dessert makes it, well, perfect! They are really nice about customizing drinks so you can add this n' that or take out just this or just that. I added taro once because I was in a weird taro phase, but it didn't really work. Love this place! I'm in love with boba and I'll gladly come here when I'm in the area. I recommend their Oolong tea! It's not on their actual menu, but it's in pictures behind the register. It has a sort of foam in their which makes it light. I also recommend any of their deserts! They're sweet and icy and you eat it with a spoon. They put a bunch of sweeteners, jellys, bobas, beans, etc in there. Anything with red beans is awesome! read more

Love this place. I go everytime I'm in town, but the customer service was not good the evening I had gone on 10/19/2018. I went 30 minutes before closing. I'm not sure if the cashier was just annoyed, or if that's just how she works. I dont know what she couldn't understand when I asked if "adding coconut is the coconut meat." Also she seemed confused that I said the red tapioca had water chestnut in them. I'm 99.9999% sure they do. I also said "no grass jelly" and still got it in mine. I was too annoyed to ask her to fix my order. Either way, her customer service ruined my trip there. I finally tried this place after some friends decided I needed to try it. I haven't tried it because I never knew what to order but my Vietnamese friends gave me the low down on what everything is and I ended up going with the #1 Che with ice on the side. I like how you can add whatever you want or don't want to the drink because they customize it. I like how they used coconut juice in majority of the drinks since it is refreshing and hydrating especially when I was in the sun all day. Just opened earlier this month (March 2011) and having a special of all drinks for $2.50. Although, I think this special is ending very soon (promotion was only for 2 weeks?). Seems like a similar menu (if not the same) to the one in San Jose. The che desserts with the basil seed are great. They also have desserts with different fruits, beans, and jellies. Never heard about che until I randomly stumbled through the list of boba places around Sacramento. This is not your typical boba you'd find at Lollicup and TapEx; think of it as boba GONE WILD. What brought me in was the variety of ingredients they put in your cup. So colorful and puts your boring cup of milk tea with boba to shame. I ordered the #4, which I thought was a good starting drink to sample all sort of ingredients. It consists of grass jelly, red tapioca, jello, pandan jelly, and mung bean. The exterior of the red tapioca was soft and chewy like a regular boba and had a cool little crunch in the middle (like you're crunching on jicama). Mung bean had the right amount of sweetness and delivered a smooth texture. I made the mistake of not mixing everything in my cup, because I didn't want to destroy the pretty presentation! I ate the shaved ice on top, which tasted like... shaved ice, and everything started to get sweeter and sweeter towards the bottom where the mung bean was at. Definitely give it a good stir to give it an even ratio. The #4 reminds me of the Korean shaved ice dessert (patbingsu), because of the sweet bean paste (mainly azuki beans). Friendly staff, clean restroom, and great drinks/desserts. Definitely coming back whenever I'm in the Little Saigon area. I don't come there that often, but that will have to change. Can't wait to try other combinations! Oh yeah, one downer part is that it's cash only. Come on... I think there is cocaine in their smoothies, because I AM ADDICTED!!! hahaha.... I stop by at least once a week. I've tried almost all their smoothies except 4 of them, because I know I'm not a big fan of durian. They also offer those desserts.... I have mixed feelings about those. They're good, but not that great. But they're pretty much the only shop that makes it to order, just wish they showed you what everything is... because not everyone know's what a lotus seed is and what not. I love the overall drinks here and they still have the best boba drinks in town! :) However, they can get a little busy with ~only 2 people working up at the front and the tables get a bit messy and they don't have time to clean them/wipe them off. But one random day after eating like a street rat in a fresh dumpster.... my friends and I came here to get some drinks. They were close to closing so I couldn't get my usual Vietnamese Coffee ... so I got their blended version of it instead. HOLY DELICIOUS.
