This is one of my favorite Chinese places and eat here all the time. Everything on the menu that I have tasted has been delicious; which makes it very hard to decide what to order. I'm currently hooked on the Mongolian chicken with fried rice and wor won-ton soup. The lady at the front counter is very sassy and can be down right rude at times, but I think it adds to the places charm. Loved this place! Got three orders for 24 bucks. My favorite was the Hong Kong style crunchy noodle. Service was great, workers were really nice. It seems like most of the customers did take out. Honestly, I think the only reason this place does not have more reviews is because not many people in Salida have internet access. This place hands down is one of my favorite Chinese Food restaurants. I have had their chicken chow mein, egg flour soup, hot and sour soup, chicken fried rice and my favorite egg foo young. Everything is amazing. The only recommendation I have is that if you order take out, have them put the egg foo young sauce on the side. As far a price and portions go. You can feed at least 4 people on 20.00 easily. They also have free stuff when you hit a certain price point. Just ordered a bunch of food for a really reasonable price. Hongkong fried rice is amazing. My boyfriend totally loves hot and sour soup. We also got complimentary dumplings. As an asian dude, I'm fairly picky when it comes to asian food. Granted this is americanized chinese food but Bamboo House serves some very good, tasy dishes. We recommend the honey walnut prawns, salt and pepper calamari. Peking style pork was thick, meaty and came in a slightly cloying sweet and sour sauce. Brush that off and it's fine. The beef is very good. They cut and season it well. We had some broccoli beef. Americanized yes, but pretty tasty. Slight disappointment with the pan fried noodle. Noodles needed to be crispier and too much light gravy. Needs thicker gravy or none at all. Overall a very solid choice. Biggest surprise was the price. $58 for 5 dishes. Big portions. Well worth the visit. Phone in your order, or just wait like we did. The food will be cooked to order and ready in 10-15 minutes. I can understand why the ratings are high. This is my go to Chinese spot. Even though I have Golden Bowl right around the corner I drive that extra two minutes and get food from here. The food is always tasty and it's quick! I usually order the Broccoli Beef combination plate which is 7.00 dollars for hefty portions of everything. And it's super delicious to boot. Large portion of food for a cheap price. I've ordered the chicken chow mein three times now and it's always a hit or miss. The food is about average but I've found hair only once in my noodles. The Orange chicken either comes warm and good, or warm and hard. I would less likely recommend the food but it's always the first option for me due to the distance from the place to my house. I have yet to try the whole menu and will do so and see if there's a hidden gold mine. read more

My son and I went to Bamboo House for our weekly lunch. Our good friend recommended this restaurant. This was the best tasting Chinese food that we've had in a long time. It was hot, fresh, authentic, was not greasy at all, and was an amazing value - not overpriced. We tried the Orange Chicken (not too spicy, flavorful, and so authentic with actual orange peel in the sauce), Sweet and Sour Chicken, Chicken Fried Rice (wow!), Chicken Chow Mien, and Hot and Sour Soup (loved it). All delicious! I have an allergy to MSG and detected none. Unlike many Chinese restaurants who hand you a can and a cup of ice when you order a soda, this place actually serves it fountain style. Quick and friendly service. Mostly though, I could not get over the fantastic flavor! Bamboo House is our new favorite Chinese food place, as I now have no desire to go anywhere else. I have been going to Cheryl since 2005 when she had Ocean palace. I enjoy Chinese Authenticity and I have loved her food ever since the first day I walked in her restaurant..didn't care too much about the atmosphere. Her warm welcoming smile and grace will always do. Cheryl always welcomed me and my family in every time I would come out to California. I never went to any other place except her restaurant. On Mondays when she would be closed, I hated it because no other place would do and be as good as her food and warm comforting smile. She has been amazing and has treated me as family when I come in never as a customer :) I definitely recommend this to any one who wants good food. read more

Arrived to be greeted by a friendly face. The place was small but clean a good sign. We sat and ordered a boba my daughter decided on a watermelon one. She was served a hot chalky mess. The little bit of ice that was added was melting on the top at rapid speed. I tried it myself it tasted like hot pepto bismol...yuck! Soon our food came out. I had ordered a combination with Kung pow chicken and my daughter ordered a combo with orange chicken. Mine just tasted like salt and msg, my daughters orange chicken was rock hard and also way too salty. The vegetables were ok the only thing I really ate on my plate. We left most of our food behind , the waitress asked to box it, no thank you! I give it two stars only for the good customer service, and the fact that it was clean. The food is decent and the price is right. The portions are very generous. However, the owner has the most hideous attitude I have ever encountered. I live in the area and every time I go in she has a sour look on her face. I thought maybe she disliked me, but I had friends go in once and they described the same thing. You couldn't force her to smile if you tried. If you do ever catch a slight upturn of her mouth it looks very insincere. I still stop by occasionally but I leave in a bad mood every time.
