The bread is excellent and very tasty. Well worth the price. It's a proper bakery/cafe with good pastry, too.

This small Cornish pasty kiosk is located within Lime Street train station, which makes it such a convenient and easy buy for travellers alike. There is nothing better to munch on than a pasty when you are hungry. Whenever I buy a pasty from here, it always satisfies my tummy and the price isn't too bad either for its quality anyway. Something like this is just so satisfying whenever I'm feeling under the weather or have no idea where to eat; I just resort to the Pasty Shop for a quick bite or two which somehow lifts my mood!

With 30 minutes until we had to meet our AirBnB host and pick up the keys, we decided that there was only one thing for it; a pasty. There are a few options of where to eat at Lime Street Station (Upper Crust, Burger King, Marks & Spencer, that pub above Marks & Spencer) but The Pasty Shop stood out to us. We shared a cheese and onion pasty as we didn't want to ruin our appetite for later on and it was - much to my surprise - really tasty! The pastry was super thick around the edges, basically the main reason I was happy to have a pasty, and the filling was rich and sprinkled with a little bit of black pepper. Service was friendly and I'd have little hesitation going back next time I need a pre or post-travel snack.

I proceeded to have six or seven more over the course of my visit, which given I was only there for another three days was probably far too many. I'll admit that I was fully expecting an inferior product from Ditsch, a pale and stale parody of the lovely pretzels I had put into my face in Germany but to my surprise they have perfectly recreated the soft, warm tangly bread of my fond memory. They also sell some less appetizing foodstuffs; congealing pizza slices and sweet versions of pretzels (which were like big, toughened donuts and not all that great) but for pretzels I dare you find better in Liverpool. Well done Ditsch.

In fact, it was another German classic of pretzel shaped bread which I bought for just £1 and it was sure yummy. I would take the pizza flavour any time. Initially, I was expecting it to be bland and doughy but it wasn't. For a quick tasty snack, it was well worth it and quite large in size. The pretzel could have been warmer but it was just as nice cold. I would definitely go back again to try some of their toasties and flatbread pizzas, especially the chicken curry flavour which sounds so mouth-watering!

I popped in after getting off the train as I thought I'd have a look for ideas for my wedding, as I don't fancy the plain white tiered fruit cake There are hundreds of photos of all the cakes they have made, actual cakes on display and staff who are willing to chat about your requirements. A couple of the cakes that stuck in my mind were a top table at a wedding with little figures of all the guests, and another was the tiered fairy cakes. The prices are quite steep but the quality is really good, and worth the extra few quid. Also, delivery is available throughout the whole of the UK so don't worry if you're visiting Liverpool and find your perfect cake, but your wedding is down South.

I am a real nut for, nuts so they would have to play a big part in any cake-related equations. My nut addiction extends to the covering with a thick layer of moist marzipan an absolute must. And it would be in the shape of the Death Star. It would probably be the most expensive cake in the shop but you have but one birthday/anniversary/Christmas a year. Sadly there is a premium to be paid for such extensive choice and individuality and just a glance through the window here will reveal that although detailed and handsome the cakes are hardly cheap. One in the shape of an iphone (?!) was going to cost almost £100 - do you have any idea how many French Fancies you could get for that!

Everything is baked in house at Cuthberts Bakehouse and they have cute teacups and saucers, which we knew his grandparents would appreciate -- a saucer is mandatory with their teacup! We were seated in the back conservatory which was really cute. It's got a glass roof and was nicely furnished with succulent planters and even a Christmas tree for the holidays. We ordered 3 Classic Afternoon Teas, 1 New York Afternoon Tea and 1 Vegetarian Afternoon Tea for the 5 of us (my husband's mom joined us as well). The portions here are pretty big, but its weighted toward the desserts. Each afternoon tea comes with a scone on top, the middle layer has freshly baked treats, and the bottom layer is savory bites. As a group we sampled from all of the afternoon teas. I liked the burger in the New York Afternoon Tea a lot and the fries which came in both the Veggie NY and NY tea. I prefer savory bites, so those were great. For the desserts, I liked the chocolate covered strawberry and the fudge bite. My grandpa-in-law loved the almond cake and my grandma-in-law loved the Victoria sponge cake. I have some dietary requirements as the moment, so there was several things I couldn't eat unfortunately, but everything did look good, but I couldn't try that many items ultimately. I guess I'll have to return! My favorite part of the afternoon tea experience was the unlimited teas, coffees and hot chocolates! How cool! I tried several loose leaf teas including the Chai, Peppermint, Berry (which was my favorite), and the Jasmine. I also tried the Dark Hot Chocolate. This was really fun and I loved trying my way through the menu!
