As pretentious and opulent as they…read moremay seem to the lower disposable income customer, these outlets bring a good reputation to any city centre. You see cities for me are urban playgrounds, the better the playground the more high rollers will come and play, and this has a knock on effect on local economy and is in the overall big picture good for the city. Cake shop in Liverpool is such a place. It caters for a certain high-end market, which associates quality with not only Cake shop but Liverpool. It's a bit like Wimbledon I don't care as I'm sure the organizers don't who wins, because Wimbledon is the winner every year for the revenue and interest it generates for the tennis club and London in general. The quality of the cakes in here since it does cater for a certain high-end audience is unsurprisingly immaculate. The cakes are as Isabel points out like works of art. Although it is a niche product outlet bear it in mind if you are looking for a special cake for a special occasion and are looking to go all out, this place is right up there and will cater for all your needs.

They do some of the most amazing wedding cakes I have ever seen especially if you're looking for something a bit unusual for your wedding day. A really good range of children's character cakes too.

Everything is baked in house at Cuthberts Bakehouse and they have cute teacups and saucers, which we knew his grandparents would appreciate -- a saucer is mandatory with their teacup! We were seated in the back conservatory which was really cute. It's got a glass roof and was nicely furnished with succulent planters and even a Christmas tree for the holidays. We ordered 3 Classic Afternoon Teas, 1 New York Afternoon Tea and 1 Vegetarian Afternoon Tea for the 5 of us (my husband's mom joined us as well). The portions here are pretty big, but its weighted toward the desserts. Each afternoon tea comes with a scone on top, the middle layer has freshly baked treats, and the bottom layer is savory bites. As a group we sampled from all of the afternoon teas. I liked the burger in the New York Afternoon Tea a lot and the fries which came in both the Veggie NY and NY tea. I prefer savory bites, so those were great. For the desserts, I liked the chocolate covered strawberry and the fudge bite. My grandpa-in-law loved the almond cake and my grandma-in-law loved the Victoria sponge cake. I have some dietary requirements as the moment, so there was several things I couldn't eat unfortunately, but everything did look good, but I couldn't try that many items ultimately. I guess I'll have to return! My favorite part of the afternoon tea experience was the unlimited teas, coffees and hot chocolates! How cool! I tried several loose leaf teas including the Chai, Peppermint, Berry (which was my favorite), and the Jasmine. I also tried the Dark Hot Chocolate. This was really fun and I loved trying my way through the menu!

Not to be trapped down memory lane, the website reveals how they make their cakes in wheat free and dairy free ranges for all these fussy modern eaters - it's cake! it should have loads of butter and flour! But I also noticed that their website boasts a letter from Frank Cottrell Boyce, one of our cities best playwrite and screenwriter who aptly points out that Dafna's is like a trip back in time for your tastebuds. They aren't just limited to cheesecakes if I haven't pointed out as the ladies here also d a mean selection of preserves and accompaniments to there flans, tarts and slices and housed in what could be your nan's larder.

If you like cakes, cheesecakes, desserts or quiches this place is an absolute must! Dafna specialises in producing quality cakes, all made using non-commercial recipes, and utilising domestic kitchen equipment. There is a huge range of cheesecakes, the most popular product, available in ten different flavours - I didn't even know it was possible to do that! Honestly, I was like a kid in a candy shop... I think it's practically witchcraft! Alongside the magical cheesecakes, Dafna sells a range of dietary specific foods such as wheat-free and dairy-free cakes. There is also vegetarian meals and Belgian chocolates on offer. The prices are definitely higher than what you would find in a supermarket or grocery store but the quality of the food is absolutely incomparable! Quiches come at around £7 and cakes are around £10 on average, and the famous cheesecakes about £9 for a large.

They prefer you make an appointment, mostly so they have a table big enough for all of your goodies (should you choose to have the proper afternoon tea, which includes lots of different items). We arrived on Friday for our reservation at 1 pm and there were two or three other groups there. The place is charming, with that homemade feel. They offer several options for afternoon tea, ranging from about £5 for a cake/scone and tea, to around £15 for the finger foods and lunch options. I opted for the former and had a scone with grapes (they were out of plain scones) and lemon ginger tea. My wife had the same scone with chamomile. We were both very impressed with the quality of the food and the lovely service we were given. They have more than just tea. They make proper cakes and serve breakfast and lunch, as well as offer unique specials. This is place is a must try!
