The pasty place is right in the heart of chester and is ideal for a quick bite for lunch. I visit regularly during my lunch break from work. They have a good range of pasties including several vegetarian options (including spicy vegetable, mushroom and cheese and brocolli). The prices are reasonable; cheaper than getting a packaged sandwich but more expensive than a rubbish pasty from a certain bakery chain which will remain nameless. The Pasty Place also offers a range of sweet pasties as well as cookies, crisps and drinks which are priced at the usual small shop rates. There is rarely a queue, but this is because the service is so quick, rather than a lack of customers read more

I simply love this shop - It stocks the most unique cards and wrapping paper you will have seen. You can also buy little gifts for special occasions to make them memorable. It is located on the rows in Chester city centre. read more

This is an exquisite little shop located in the upper walkways of Chester city centre. Downstairs they sell great little cards for birthdays etc, all of them quite unique. They also sell the more upmarket stationary items like expensive pens, notepad and various executive desk gadgets and ornaments etc. Upstairs is a little hidden gem because they have a selection of power kites as well as numerous toys, mainly the sort of things you would find with circus acts, but also various other gadgets. A great place to go and peruse if you are looking for a rather unique present for someone. read more

I can't fault this place. Whenever I'm co-erced into a shopping trip to Chester, the dangling carrot is always the thought of a Cornish pasty at this branch of 'The Pasty Place' afterwards. Having lived in Devon, and spent many a holiday in Cornwall, I'd say the pasties are at least the equal of anything I've eaten in the SW - and certainly cheaper, and much better quality than any of the others in the NW area (last time I visited, I paid £1.75 - as opposed to something like £3.00 for an inferior version at L'pool's Lime St Stn). You get a wide range of deep fillings (warning: avoid the one with the sweetcorn in, at all costs), thick crusts and tasty pastry (wholemeal or plain) - plenty of vegetarian options, and a huge range of desserts to choose from, again to the same rustic, loads-for-your-money, and definitely non-'nouvelle-cuisine' template. Best of all, pick up a loyalty card at the counter, get a stamp for your purchases, and, after collecting 8 or so - collect a free pasty! read more

Always go here for my lunch break :) more expensive than the pound bakery a few doors down but definitely worth it, more choice and bigger, more tasty pasties. Only criticism would be that there's no card machine. read more

Whenever I visit Chester I always call in at The Pasty Place for a pasty. I only buy the Traditional Cornish variety (they have plenty of other fillings including sweet ones). The pastry is perfect for me, plenty of meat in the filling which has real pieces of meat and veg rather than the minced sludge you get in many other so-called pasties from other bakeries). I used to live in Plymouth and spent my student days living on pasties. I spent many summers since in Cornwall and the Pasty Place's offerings are just as good as those available in the Cornish Pasty's Homeland and excellent value for money. read more
