I had gone into this establishment a couple of weeks ago and was greeted graciously by an employee. She gave me good information and I let her know I would stop back in to either make an appointment or to see about a walk-in. I then went in on Friday, April 24, 2025. I asked about specific services (from a different employee) that their cost sheet says they offer and I was told by a worker that they do not offer that service. when I advised that it shows it's an available service on their cost sheet she said that they did, but that it usually didn't come out looking very good. For every question I had about getting my eyebrows laminated. She answered in a discouraging manner as if she did not want to help me out as a customer. I don't know if it's because I am African American, but I felt very unwelcome very discouraged. This is not to be confused with the first lady who helped me a couple of weeks ago. She was very gracious and very willing to help. I was giving conflicted information and told specifically twice by this worker that it probably wouldn't come out looking very good after she said that they didn't provide the service that they actually do provide. I waited to be called in the waiting area for at least 5-10 minutes so not sure why i didn't receive all 60 minutes...for that price...I paid for a special treatment too but got about 5 minutes of it. I went a few weeks ago for a brow lamination, tint and eyebrow lift and tint. Those services were with Devonie, and I took my mom today for a lash tint and lift with her as well. I came in and did an acne facial with Cassidy. My mom was very impressed and had nothing but nice things to say! I had a wonderful time as well. The studio is small, clean, decorated in a minimalist way and I love it. They have little chocolates at all the waiting tables, candles lit, soft instrumental music playing. It's an overall very relaxing experience from start to finish. Both Devonie and Cassidy were very nice, informative and wonderful at what they do! I will say it's definitely in the mid-high price range in comparison to other spots that have similar services available... overall worth it though! I've been wanting to check out Balm since it opened 3 months ago in my local area. They have a nice 25% off for first time guest deal going on at the time I'm writing this. I liked that I was able to get in quickly for a walk in brow lamination with tint. The process was super quick although there are a few things I will say. I didn't walk out 100% loving my brows. I felt like there could've been more of a consultation for what I was going for and the shape I was looking for. The whole time the convo seemed to go back to the up selling of the other services. I did a brow tint and it looked nice but the shape of the lamination I just felt like didn't make my face look flattering. I had to go home and try to fix the shape after. There wasn't a lot of after care except for telling me to not get my face wet. I've been to places where they give you brushes and a serum afterwards too and this really felt like a quick turn around experience. I'm going to see how everything looks after I can wash my face but definitely not satisfied with the experience. I added a photo to show how intense the lamination was - which I know this is what lamination does but I feel like if I had a consultation about what I wanted the shape and look to be then we could've matched my everyday look better with just a bit more feathery touch to it versus the brows looking thicker and unflattering. Update: the owner did reach out to me and I'm waiting to hear back from her to possibly redo the shaping of it. She took the feedback of the consultation. I do still think they should offer more aftercare items like spoolies and a serum sample. The only reason it looks halfway decent now is because I had those items from the last esti I went to tenth house beauty because she gave me so many other things in my service. Second update - the owners did reach out and took my feedback. Going to go back in again soon. But I don't want one negative exp to bomb a business. I booked a brow WAX about a week in advance. They texted me a few days before and asked if I would like a brow sugaring. I said no thanks. They called me the day before and said "we have a cancelation at XX time - would you like to move your appointment". I said no thanks. I show up for my appointment and they take me back and said, we are ready to do your brow sugaring. I said I booked a WAX --- they said they didn't have anyone that could do that service and I would have to come back later in the day. I had a busy day and booked that time to fit my schedule. Anyways, I rearranged my schedule, came back. Had my waxing (she did a very poor job -- left one brow half undone and had very bad body odor). I asked to speak with the manager - she was unavailable. No sorry, no let me give you a discount for the inconvenience. Nothing. In hind sight -- they knew they could not perform the service I booked and that is why they kept texting/calling me and just hoped I wouldn't notice that I was not getting a wax? Things would have gone much better if they would have called me before my appointment and been honest that they didn't have anyone at that time to perform my service. read more
