With "discounts", I was still quoted at over $1100 per SESSION with the need for 6-8 sessions initially and then 2-3x yearly. I asked if the 2-3x per year was forever, and was told "No, not forever! Only while you're alive. Hair doesn't grow after you die". They stress that a reduction in hair growth (and not full removal) of 60-75% is the best I could hope for. I was also told my skin was very damaged, and I would need photo facial services almost everywhere I was looking to get laser hair removal (under chin, legs, bikini, underarms). I'm 32 and have since been asked about my great complexion. Additionally, I've subsequently found out the "laser" there is not a laser. I'm not an expert, but from pictures on their website, it's a Palomar StarLux 500, which uses Intense Pulse Light or IPL, and is somewhat outdated (and relatively inexpensive) technology. With what was being charged for a year of sessions, I could pay for the machine myself. Overall, I felt pretty self conscious after my initial consultation and wondered if my presupposed budget was wildly off base. I understand all patients are different and have different needs but how can folks be in business and refuse to give you a price or price range for their services. Here's a tip, take the price for hairiest body section you have ever lasered and the least body section you have lasered, add those two together and divide by two for an AVERAGE.. put an asterisk next to it stating this is an average price and prices may vary depending on customer. Why drag a customer into shop and waste there time and yours just to tell them a price that is possibly out of their price range. Don't you use a average/range when judging the success rate of a removal session?? Say, 8 to 10 percent of hair is removed per session ? You can tell that they pay a great deal of attention to details here. I've been a client for over a year now, originally signing up for one area of the body, but after experiencing how easy the process is I'm doing other areas! It feels like by the time you walk in and out of the door it hasn't even been 10 minutes. She flies right through the actual lasering and I swear it actually barely feels like anything! I think the common analogy of a rubber band, snapping against your skin, doesn't even do justice to how little you feel. Some areas I can't feel at all. I've always thought of laser hair removal as this expensive and painful process, but now after doing it, I can't believe I didn't do it years ago. I guarantee that if more people tried it, and realized how easy it is, everyone would be doing it. It is by FAR, quicker, less painful, and cheaper than waxing. My one piece of advice to to show up right on time, a lot of the appointments are literally only five minutes long, and if you're back to back with another client you don't want to eat into their appointment time! The results happen quicker than you expect, and it really only took about 2 sessions for a major change. You can typically expect to go for 6 sessions (once a month) and then after that an occasional maintenance appointment. I had a great experience with Josefina! I had been shaving for years and always ended up with extreme irritation and razor burn, no matter how much I exfoliated, and I had ingrowns and my regrowth was always itchy and rough. I tried waxing a few times, but it was painful and even regrowth for waxing was really itchy and uncomfortable. During the consultation, Josefina ver clearly explained what kind of results I could expect to see and when, and went over pricing and options. I went in for 6 sessions, and I am so happy with the results! My regrowth is basically gone, and the little that does come back is much finer and softer, and my skin is much less itchy and irritated. I also have almost no ingrown hair, and the laser process itself is way less painful than waxing. I expect to go back ~2x/year to keep up the results.
