My nails are completely crooked and after telling him that that was enough filing he continued to do so ! I continuously told him that I did not like the shape he was forming due to the excessive filing but after a while I just let him finish so I can leave and go get my nails fixed elsewhere . I wouldn't say I am an expert on nail salons but I have been to so many in my life I definitely have strong opinions and this place was great! My family has been in Baldwin for a long time and we have never had anything but the usual no frills, cheap nail salons that are adequate but always leave you wanting more. Baldwin Nail & Spa is brand new, huge, extremely clean and is more than just a nail salon, its a day spa. In addition to the usual nail services, they have 5 different types of massages, 6 different facials and great packages. Now to the details. I was lucky enough to go in during their Mon-Wed special, when you can get a mani & pedi for $22! Yes, it's only the basics but their basics are better than the spa treatment at other local salons. They paraffin your hands as soon as you get there. The pedicure includes an exfoliating scrub, a lengthy massage and paraffin on your heels, all on brand new clean pedicure chairs. They offered me tea or water as soon as I was seated. The manicure was also wonderful and included a hot stone massage. Finally, instead of the standard punch card, you get a rewards card that runs on points not visits. Once you accumulate 200 pts you get a free manicure. My mother and I are hooked and are definitely making this our new go-to place. read more

I would like to begin this review by saying that I've been searching for a nail salon that I could be a regular at for quite some time. I think I've found that in Baldwin Nail & Spa. I called to make an appt for 6:30 for me and my mom. Unfortunately, we were a few minutes late. I was willing to simply let me mom get her nails done and have mine done another day. However, they decided that they would do both of our nails. I was a little scared that speed would mean that quality would be lowered but I was so wrong. They did an amazing job with both of our manicures and pedicures, never skimping on customer service, consistently attentive, and responding to requests. My manicure and pedicure were beautiful and held up to wear and tear, unlike many other places I've been to where my polish begins to chip in 3 hours. Did my nails yesterday afternoon 4/28 went home , in less than couple of hours it started chipping off , looks like watered down nail polish , mind you this is supposed to be acrylic which normally last over 2 weeks .. I went back today to show them the result asked for my money back $45.00 was told no refund , there's no sign up saying no refund I'm so pissed off because that's not how business is done ... I had to wait extra time to get my nails done... :-/ Mani: Really good base coat was used with Opi nail polish. Mani lasted a long time. Facial: Worst Facial EVERRRRRRRR. Painful experience. Awful. I asked for extraction of any blackheads and she said, " I dont see any ". Then she took out tweezers and pinched my forehead all over, while saying " You come for 2nd facial soon...OK? " NEVER. Pros: I booked an appointment and was taken on time. Lucy gives awesome massages. Cons: I hate my gel manicure. I asked for Kenny because had great reviews. I showed him a picture and he said no problem. I trusted his judgment and then I saw the finished product and was highly disappointed. He applied the glitter part without ever checking to see if I liked the placement. I saw him kind of just slapping it on but I figured he knew what he was doing. Well by the looks of it he just didn't seem to care all that much. At the end he never asked if I liked it or anything...what I got was what I got, period. Plus, he didn't cut my cuticles. Wasn't crowded when I walked in, but had to wait 30 mins. Then I felt like lady was rushing to get me out by 7:30pm. I could have used a little more tlc. I usually have my eyebrows done here (waxing), I came in yesterday for the usual procedure and when I got home I felt that stinging pain on my right eyebrow which I thought was normal but it didn't stop stinging the whole when I woke up there's a burnt mark on my right eyebrow so I came back to them right away to let them know. The korean guy who is usually getting the payment ignored me when I told him about what happened and told me to wait. I've been to Baldwin Nail & Spa twice; first at the end of 2011 and then again at the end of Jan. 2012. To sum up my experience at this establishment, it could be 60% better. While they are reasonably priced in comparison to decent salons in Manhattan, the service is not up to par. During my first visit I elected to get a manicure and pedicure. I'd called about 30 to 40 minutes in advance for an appointment and was told they'd be able to start my nails at that time. However, when I arrived, I was led to the pedicure chair and asked to soak my feet. Although there were employees who were walking around (yes, nail technicians) and even those who finished customers while my feet were soaking, no one started my pedicure for 25 minutes. The "manager" was very "apologetic," and made several excuses for the delay. Then when I was taken to a table to do my manicure, the young man doing my nails didn't even soak my hands - waterless manicure. (I guess there's a first time for everything.) Even though the visit was right at New Year's Eve when women generally beautify themselves for celebrations, I chalked up the lackluster service to the possibility that there were employees out for the holiday. During my second and most likely last visit, I called over three hours in advance to schedule my services, which was supposed to include massage, manicure, and pedicure. Upon entering the spa there was a customer at the front desk who had poor service and was trying to straighten the issue out with the managers. I was asked to proceed with my massage first, which was great (done by Lucy). After my massage was finished I was asked to soak my feet and told that someone would be right with me. Unfortunately, I was again sitting for 30 minutes before anyone attended to me. Meanwhile, again, there were employees who were finishing other customers, but were not instructed to begin my pedicure. Someone rushed over when I asked for a towel to dry my feet because I was leaving. Again, the same "manager" came over with her fake apologies and concerns. While they were doing my pedicure a woman came in and they immediately rushed to do her pedicure and paraffin waxing -- NO wait whatsoever. I did not stay for a manicure and while paying was provided with a free certificate and a discounted certificate (with expiration dates) for the services that they didn't execute well. Overall, I would prefer to pay more money for services rendered professionally and timely before patronizing this establishment again. It's not worth the time and aggravation. They have a warped sense of good customer service. Pros: *Pricing is decent. *Lucy is friendly and gives great massages. *Location isn't bad and there is parking. *Decor is nice. Cons: *Unprofessional *Long waits for no reason. *Disingenuous management. read more

After years of using Yelp, I created an account to give this place the horrible review it deserves. I made appointments in advance for a standard mani/pedi for myself and my mother on Mother's Day. We were told there would be a 30 minute wait, which turned into well over an hour, and the services were terrible. They were completely understaffed and unprepared for the day. Instead of being honest about how long the wait would be, they lied to string us, and other waiting customers, along. Overall poor attention to detail, and bad massages. Due to their delays we had to rush out, and my mother's pedicure was ruined. I absolutely love this place! I come here regularly about every 2-3 weeks. I usually get the same thing, UV color gel manicure ($20) and a honey and lemon pedicure ($30). I will admit I was a little skeptical on the color gel actually lasting for two weeks but it really does last and keeps your nails shiny. I even had the color gel last for 3 weeks once! One time two of my nails did start to chip after a few days, but I went back and they ended up redoing all of my nails for free. I haven't tried any of their facials or massages but they do have a lot of packages so you can turn your trip there into a spa day. They also give you a membership card and for every $200 you spend, you'll either get a free manicure or $9 off. read more
