Came in for motorcycle tire service and my bike was out for 16 days without him lying a finger on it - all the meanwhile spewing lies to me and telling me bike would be ready. Recently recognized the need for a professional, reliable, fully equipped mechanic with a legal & established shop/location with or without staff. I love my mechanic friends who are trying to make ends meet, but are without some of the aforementioned. All past services are greatly appreciated. To start, I did a Google Search for auto service establishments in my area. Baldwin happened to be closest (1/2 mile away) which is a great feature as going back and forth to drop off and pick up was always a past issue. The majority of the Google reviews were favorable, as so were the Yelp reviews. I sent a message to Baldwin via both of theses sights, and within minutes Anthony Baldwin responded. Next step was to visit without being in need. Just wanted to see the place and meet this mechanic. In doing so, I met the staff and also within minutes a regular customer arrived for an oil change. At this point I will express my satisfaction that transportation is available to your home or job. Since my "exploratory visit" ( less than 1 month) my 99 GMC Sonoma PU has been to Baldwin Auto for three jobs. All were completed in a very reasonable time frame, and at reasonable cost, each visit required transportation between my home and the shop. FYI, my truck is considered in good overall condition, but based on its age and the current weather conditions ran into need of TLC. We were recommended to visit Baldwin Auto Repair in Ludlow, Ma when we were out of town and our car broke down. Owner Anthony Baldwin met us on a Saturday morning and diagnosed our problem which was costly. When we told him we were planning to trade it in within the next month, he then recommended that we not fix it, but rather, replace it right now. He recommended a good replacement, went online, found us a perfect vehicle nearby and for the best price available, called the dealer and told them his friend was coming over to see the car. All of this took an hour. He refused to take any payment from us and wished us well. I would go back to his shop in a heartbeat. I took my car here recently and he didn't even fix the problem. Charged me $400+ and the car runs exactly the same. What kind of business is that?? He won't return my phone calls after the first time I called. Whoever answered the phone said "it was running fine when I test drove it" - no it's not! It's sputtering and skipping still. I was driving through Ludlow when I heard a clanging noise coming from the right side of the car. Afraid to drive another 100 miles with this issue, I quickly looked up the nearest auto shop, called and heard a friendly voice on the phone. Anthony picked up and invited me to stop by to take a look, so at least he can let me know if I should be on the road or not. When I arrived, he quickly took a look and within 10 minutes, came back to tell me that it was a simple solution that he had already fixed. He fixed it without charge and refused to take my money. He was simply happy to help me along the way so I wouldn't be stranded far from home! read more

Foreign car expert near Mass Pike. Pleasant, fair, creative, and on top of it: car buffs who really enjoy the process of maintaining autos new and old. A terrific experience, rarely found these days! Our 1987 Land Rover broke down on Thanksgiving weekend on the Mass Pike. Anthony received our tow-in with no appointment, prioritized our issues due to travel, and tried to get us back on the road for the holiday, searching high and low for the non-US metric replacement parts we needed. Friendly, hospitable, and fair. A terrific garage and a great find if you want a partner who enjoys the process of figuring out how to resolve issues with for new or vintage autos, while minimizing unnecessary costs. I have a huge amount of respect for the kind of work Anthony Baldwin does. He has modern enough equipment to deal with diagnosing and fixing cars, but an old fashion work ethic that puts honesty and hard work first. What's different about him than most mechanics.... he genuinely cares that your car is fixed and in the best working condition. He's got too much of conscious to let your car leave his care knowing it might not be in a reliable condition. He's fair, and honest when it comes to time and price. If you're a loyal customer, he's a loyal provider. He's pretty much a one man crew so you won't have to worry about not having your car for weeks or months. He is self employed so he depends getting the job done right and in the right amount of time so he can take the next job on. He's passionate, and self taught - and it shows. Anyone who knows Anthony or has had their car worked on by him knows there's nothing he can't fix. Doesn't matter the make or model. If it has an engine, he can fix it. German, American, Japanese, Italian, British... the guy knows cars. And if your cars a diesel that won't be a problem, guy has owned diesels and has worked on them for a very long time. He'll tell you exactly what he knows is wrong with your car, keep you updated on the progress, and let you be a part of the decision making for what to do with your car, but will make good recommendations he bases on years of experience and knowledge (just listen to him, okay?). I won't go to anyone else. I like that I know my car will be fixed the way it's supposed to and in a timely manner. I like knowing that if I have questions about it I'm not bothering him and he's happy to answer. And he won't make you feel stupid like other mechanics. He understands it's his job to know cars and how to fix them, not yours. I've never gotten better service, fairer prices than what I've gotten from Anthony's work. Happy he now has his own place so he can provide the best service possible. Awesome to know there's an honest, skilled mechanic around who wants to help you, not an easy find.
