Choosing a new auto shop is a difficult task. I know very little about cars, and it seems like…read morealmost everything related to cars is very unfriendly to women, or maybe to people in general. So I looked on Yelp to find a place in the area that had good reviews. Pleasant Street Auto only had two reviews, but they also took the time to post their own description. And, I liked the range of photos (I'll admit that I was a bit charmed by the photo of someone spray-painting a dinosaur) and the notion that there would be a place to sit and do work, comfortably, not literally sitting outside on a curb as I've had to do on occasion in the past. I was not a great customer up front, I'll admit. I completely forgot our first appointment, and then I became lost on my way for the remedial appointment. Throughout, the staff was patient and professional with me. I can't say a word about the garage/work area because I never saw it, which felt a little odd, but I could certainly get used to it! I don't have the slightest idea what the machines and tools are for, anyway, and so I don't know that seeing and hearing mechanics work really enhances my experience. Instead, I left my car and keys and waited inside. The front desk manages repair work, body work, and also Hertz rentals. When I made my oil change appointment, I was a little worried that I might have a serious issue discovered, and I might therefore need to rent a car. If this had been necessary, I could have managed it all at one location. Convenient! The oil change didn't seem to take all that long. I should have timed it, but I didn't. I think the total wait - even though I was late for my appointment, was well under an hour. During that time, I tried to take advantage of the homey waiting area with a t.v. (though the cable was stutteringly-intermittent), WIFI that didn't seem to work at all, and computers with internet service that required someone to come in and fix it for it to work at all. The computers were kind of old, dodgy, and dirty, but I was able to do some work, which was great. For families, there are toys and books (for kids and adults) and an area for children to hang out and play. I can only imagine that, since the space is open and adjacent to the desk area, it's not much fun for staff when the space gets "active," but it's very nice an accommodating. Overall, this is a huge leap over sitting on a solitary chair in a drafty space next to a noisy garage, or as said, literally sitting on a curb because there's no indoor seating at all. The best bit was that Lee, I believe a member of the family who runs this business, came out to speak with me personally while they were finishing up with the car. He spoke with me in language that I could understand, but not with condescension. There were a number of potential issues with the car, and he prioritized them for me, but he didn't make me feel pressured in any way. I feel like Yelp helped me to find a great fit for a new auto shop, and it's a great relief. I'd highly recommend this establishment to anyone who wants to feel confident about a family-run business that is professional, caring, and extremely well-rounded in terms of services available at a single location. With comfort, too! Great, great experience overall.

I love my mechanic friends who are trying to make ends meet, but are without some of the aforementioned. All past services are greatly appreciated. To start, I did a Google Search for auto service establishments in my area. Baldwin happened to be closest (1/2 mile away) which is a great feature as going back and forth to drop off and pick up was always a past issue. The majority of the Google reviews were favorable, as so were the Yelp reviews. I sent a message to Baldwin via both of theses sights, and within minutes Anthony Baldwin responded. Next step was to visit without being in need. Just wanted to see the place and meet this mechanic. In doing so, I met the staff and also within minutes a regular customer arrived for an oil change. At this point I will express my satisfaction that transportation is available to your home or job. Since my "exploratory visit" ( less than 1 month) my 99 GMC Sonoma PU has been to Baldwin Auto for three jobs. All were completed in a very reasonable time frame, and at reasonable cost, each visit required transportation between my home and the shop. FYI, my truck is considered in good overall condition, but based on its age and the current weather conditions ran into need of TLC. Needless to say I am telling everyone I know about this great place. God Bless Baldwin Auto. Louis.

I WAS a returning customer of Jay's Auto Body, I will no longer be bringing anything i own there,…read moreand I heavily recommend you avoid this place like the plague. My last vist was to get my side skirts installed, as well as some other small tweaks in bumper fitment, ect. I picked up the car 9am Wednesday July 23rd. Once getting to work around noon the sunlight was out and I was grabbing something from my trunk, I then saw multiple harsh scratches aswell as 2 cracks in my left tail light. I then texted over a photo to the shop and was immediately told it wasn't them and not their fault. After getting bombarded with texts and calls from the worker I got the owner's contact. He said he would look into it and apologized for the troubles. A few days later I had gotten a quote for replacing the lens and we got into contact again, the worker said he would give me $100, then later that day the owner called me and said he would give me $300 to go towards the replacement. I told him I would pick it up Wednesday July 30th. Wednesday July 30th I got up early on my one day off of work and went over to the shop with the tail light. The owner wasn't there, but the worker was. He then spent 20 minutes throwing out bs excuses and eventually said he cant take responsibility for it and refused to give me the money I was promised. I will never do buisness with that asshole ever again and I recommend you dont either if you care about your car and your money. He also didnt do a good job on the work. The job seems half done and parts feel off after he "anchored" them down. Charged a fortune too!

In the grand scheme of things I know this was a really small job, but I felt like they treated me as well as any other customer. I'll definitely head back to Jay's the next time I need work done.

Cosmetically, this car looks fabulous, but I knew when I bought it a year ago for $3,500 (!) that I would have to put some $$ into it to keep it going until 300,000 miles. (That's always my goal with my Subarus). I want to give a HUGE shout out to Cory, the mechanic who made everything right for me. We came up with a pretty good list of items that needed attention during an oil change last week- so, this week Cory worked on it for 3 entire days, attending to the suspension, the radiator, the brakes, and the exhaust. I was most impressed with the list of "extras" that Cory was able to address at no charge, which immediately takes the "sting" out of the total $$ I invested in this fix-it. You are THE MAN Cory!! Whoohooooo!! I travel A LOT, and this summer will be adding 5,000 miles to the odometer. I feel confident that my Sube will not fail me after all the attention that Cory gave to it. Thanks you Spartan, and thank you Cory!!

A good friend of the family recommended here and I always knew of the place and drove past it a zillion times but never had thought they would service any of my vehicles. As for my experience I guess I am just indifferent. I knew going in it was not going to be a fix in first try and out type of deal. Car has had some issues in the past with the check engine light and all that jazz. First trip was a cool $300 and change for replacing a part and labor. Light came back on within 40 miles and brought it back for another 9.5 hour service. All was well and was told it was driven every where except the highway, needless to say took it on the highway and yup, light came back on. It went back in and we replaced the first part, at no cost, that was aftermarket to a new part and next thing I know my car passed emissions test. Haven't fully took it all in yet, we'll see if the light pops back on or not.
