A distillery near the Dr. Pepper museum and the Magnolia complex. The prices are high for the quality. While the quality of the liquor is good (way better than Witherspoon in Lewisville), these spirits are better for mixing than for drinking straight. Maybe some aged products will change that in a few years. We went to the tasting room (a/k/a bar), which is on the left after you enter. Great service. Has its own parking lot. read more

Came during COVID, so everything was outdoors under a tent. Not ideal, but you gotta take what you can get! Nonetheless, the tastings were great and staff were knowledgeable. Given the conditions, I'd definitely rate them high in my list - first distillery I'd ever been to. read more

Review time kids! The ever so lovely bride and I are in Waco for the day and hit this place to see what they are all about. Being a lover of all things bourbon, this place was calling my name! We hit the tasting room that also has a small merchandising area. Perfect spot to try out their craft. Stepping up to the bar, the Bar manager gave us the rundown on what they do there. I ordered the 3 sample flight. This also gets you $10 discount off a bottle! I landed on the "Baby Blue" a corn whisky made from roasted blue corn. Good stuff! read more

I love their Single Malt and their Rumble in particular. A friend was in town so we made the drive to Waco to do whisky flights. I appreciated getting to try a couple of the others that I had not tasted yet, but my favorite was when I ordered the special Single Malt Rum Cask in an old fashioned. It helped tone down the kick that it had at the end of the sip. Go and have a good time! read more

My husband and I stopped here to get a few drinks. I got "Taxas Dove" which is perfect for me because I'm not a big fan of Whiskey. Great bartender providing friendly. He was also recommended 3-flight for $12 and I was like Taxas "1" the most. read more

We reserved a distillery tour and arrived about 30 minutes early. The receptionist welcomed us into the tasting room for a before tour drink. We're brand new to whiskey and she suggested one of the holiday mixed drinks - which were amazing!! Great atmosphere with mostly high top tables (my favorite) and dark wood decor. The tour was a great way to see the process and learn about the different kinds of whiskey and rum. Eric walked us through the whiskey tasting which was so helpful!! Great to have someone help me look for different flavors and notes in the whiskey. We ended the night with another flight in the tasting room and went home with a bottle of Lineage. The tastings were great and the distillery was nice. Had Theron been our initial server I would have easily given 5 stars. He was informative and was eager to discuss the whiskeys. But we started with Nick and he could not have been bothered. He was rude and dismissive was irritated by our interest in the whiskeys. read more

Really enjoyed visiting Balcones Distillery. Andrew led the tour of the distillery and made it very fun and interesting. The tasting at the end of the tour was nicely done. Balcones makes several excellent whiskies. The single malt single barrel is my favorite. The Brimstone has a great smokey flavor, not nearly as agressive as i thought it would be. And the Rye 100 has a dark chocolate finish that's hard to put down. The tasting room is comfortable and the staff are friendly and helpful. I highly recommend visiting Balcones. read more

What a wonderful time!!! Surprised my fiance with a trip to waco and one of our activites was to tour the distillery and it was so worth it! The atmosphere is warm and great and the tour guide was so fun! Plus we got to try about 7 different kinds of their blends at the end of the trip and I left feeling like I had learned so much! While having a great time! I definitely recommend making a trip to this distillery. Even if you sont go on the tour, their bar is very nice and a cool hangout spot to grab a drink! read more

I love Balcones and the tour guide was fun and knowledgeable, I can't give the tour a 5 stars because there where far to many people in the group. Max size I thought was 10 people, but we had 16 people and at times it was hard to hear the guide and the tasting room was absolutely packed with no shoulder room. read more

Hours Alert and Buying Direct warning - all for your own good! Be sure to check their hours before heading over as they are NOT standard. For instance, 1pm to 7pm some days. Next, if you go in for a tasting and buy bottles, you are limited by Texas law to 2 per person in 30 days. I only bring this up as when you read the next paragraph you will learn about distillery releases. You wouldn't want to buy 2 bottles of say Baby Blue here vs a liquor store, and then show up for a distillery release and get blocked. Now they do take down your DL#, so not sure if the system tracks you or not, but isn't worth the chance! PLus knowing the liquor laws of Texas, you aren't hurting them by buying at the store vs direct. They have to pay what they made margin wise to the distributor anyway!! Be sure to sign up for their newsletter, twitter, and FB feeds as you will get insider info on events, pairing dinners and such. We did one in Plano at Urban Crust and not only was the value amazing, but their booze with food was awesome. I came out for the new building opening weekend and toured. I've stopped by a handful of times now when my Austin back to Dallas commute just makes me want to go mad, so a little stop off here is perfect. Their tasting is crazy good. $10. 4 pours, cup o oyster crackers for the old palate cleanse and a dropper with water to make precision cut downs. Oh and a side of ice too if you need some cubes. There is a water dispenser should you need any of that to dilute your stomach. I love their tasting cards. Great attention to detail. There is a small gift shop and you can of course buy merch, but they do have some of the common bottles there for sales. Be sure to show up early for distillery releases since finding some of their stuff in retail stores can be tough. read more

I didn't know one of my favorite Whiskey's was distilled in Waco. So of course when I was in town for work I had to stop in and check it out. This tasting room is beautiful. A lot of natural light makes it very welcoming. The people working there make the trip even better. I had a tasting flight of three and the two behind the bar were very knowledgeable about all things whiskey I definitely learned a thing or two. I give this place a three. Let's start with my drink I got a Mojito and my husband got a flight. He liked the flight but my drink was basically rum and no added mojito flavor. So it was a meh! Now as far as the staff... on arrival they did not even greet us. It was like pulling teeth to order and the entire time we were there they gathered around testing drinks and if anyone asked what they were making it was as if we offended them. They were rude. She was very well versed and knowledgeable and made our tour so easy going and fun. I work in the industry and this awesome lady did not disappoint and neither did the whiskey! We had a party of three for the tour. Our tour guide made our time interesting and fun. He is very knowledgeable and passionate about the art of whiskey. There is a tasting immediately after the tour with a generous pour of a number of their whiskeys. We had a great time. We'll come again when we can bring more of the family, but we'll probablyl Uber next time so we can buy the tasting flights of additional whiskeys. Great people and a good time. read more

Brought my other half for the tour and tasting as a Valentine's Day gift. He loved it! The tour was well done and included a lot of interesting history. The tasting was informative and included fun facts and history as well. Was fun for us both, and the group also seemed to have a good time. Tour is friendly to all, wether it be a master distiller or a newbie! Lots of great merch for purchase in the tasting room/bar area. Fantastic tour. We went almost a full two hours. We samples 6 different whiskeys, rum and bourbon. Frederic was a truly great tour guide.
