Found this place on Instagram actually and was so happy it popped up while we are staying in Gilbert. The establishment is super cute, no tables inside, but it does have a long bench you can sit on to eat your treats. The service was wonderful, and she was so patient as we were checking out the menu. We got a Works Balboa Bar, a Smoreo banana and a frozen cheesecake dipped in dark chocolate and drizzled with raspberry sauce. Everything was delicious. The banana was so fresh, the ice cream was creamy and the cheesecake was perfect. We would definitely go back, and probably will stop by one more time before we leave. Must try for sure.

Phenomenal! It was so good! The bar has 4 options to choose from. There's tons of toppings to choose and drizzles to follow along. I got a vanilla bar. With chocolate and boardwalk as a topping. To drizzle it I got marshmallow and more chocolate. The options are endless! Service was top tier, the clerk was so sweet and patient. The shop is hidden in a sneaky location near a gym, bar, and McDonald's. The shop is so cute and clean. A must visit during this hot Arizona summer!

Stopping at Balboas is a must anytime we are in North Mesa! It's our favorite! It's always so clean and welcoming, the employees are so friendly and the bars are so good! I'm a fan of the half banana and my kids love the ice cream bars. The toppings rock! There are so many combinations, suggestions and options. They keep the dipping area super super clean! This is just such a fun and delicious experience and one of our favorites! The stickers and tshirts are rad!

Went at the perfect time because there was no wait! This is a fun and delicious way to have ice cream. If this is your first time, maybe go with one of the suggestions. But it's pretty simple to customize your treat! Ordered: Campfire Got Jammed Campfire was on a chocolate ice cream bar with crushed graham crackers, mini marshmallows and a chocolate drizzle. Don't forget that all ice cream bars are dipped in chocolate before they're loaded with toppings! These treats are amazing! It's hard to decide what flavor combination to try next. If you want customize it you can also add two toppings and they'll coat one side of the bar with one topping and the second side with a second topping. One of my friends ordered multiple drizzles. The raspberry drizzle was really yummy!! I'm definitely coming back and trying a new combination.

My partner and I tried this spot a few weeks back and when I'm telling you my mouth is still drooling over this spot, oh man! We let the employees know this was our first time and they were more than happy to walk us through and explain everything. Staff was great! There were other families in there and you can tell this was their first time and they seemed to have enjoyed this unique experience. I had the frozen banana dipped into dark chocolate. They also have semi sweet chocolate! I had it topped with nuts then had marshmallow drizzled on top. This was SO delicious! My partner got the ice cream bar dipped in semi sweet topped with Oreo, marshmallow and Nutella. We devoured these sweet treats! They also have a small selection of baked goods. We got a churro cookie bar which was so soft and delicious! This place is so unique and I'm happy that Arizona has a spot like this, you usually only see these spots in California. This place is a great spot for a nice sweet treat especially in the summer time and we highly recommend! We will be back!

When I was a kiddo my mom would make and stock our freezer with chocolate covered bananas. I would love to come home from school and have one as a snack. When I heard about Balboas opening I was very excited to check them out. They have vanilla or chocolate ice cream bars as well as the bananas, but I was there for a banana! They have plenty of toppings to choose from and you can customize your dessert or go with one of their options. I choose the Getaway which had toasted coconut and salted caramel drizzle. Only complaint is I wish the drizzle was thicker consistency. It was so thin it just rolled off the banana, but no worries I just dipped my banana into the container and made sure I got all the caramel! Not a drop was wasted. There was 4 of us that went and we all got different toppings and each one was deemed the best of the bunch! You seriously can't go wrong with anything there. Service was fast, efficient, and professional. The store was clean and covid protocols were being followed. I just need them to open another location in North Phoenix! :)

A sweet treat to try but IMO not someplace I'm dying to go back to. If you are a lover of dipped bananas this is your place!! (I'm not a banana person so read ahead with that in mind). We got a dipped chocolate ice cream bar, 1/2 s'mores (blend of graham cracker bits and mini marshmallows) 1/2 butterfinger. The ice cream is nice and creamy - pretty basic good chocolate ice cream bar coated rich in milk (or dark) chocolate. Overall I was happy with the treat, a nice change of pace but not about to become a regular occurrence (especially for $6 - I could get a pint of Ben and Jerry's and be as happy or happier). This is a great place for a date or if you want to just have a treat slightly different!

We needed a great treat place like this in this neighborhood and finally we got Balboa to being their delicious treats for us to enjoy. What a great place with a california vibe full of delicious treats. They bring the nostalgia of eating a chocolate dipped banana from balboa to Mesa Arizona and do a great job of making tasty treats The location is right near the EOS fitness on Gilbert and McKellips and the place is packed with customers. Walking in it has a beach type vibe that I miss so much being from California and has endless delicious choices of chocolate dipped banana's and dipped ice cream bars. They have various dipped treats that are pre designed or you can make your own creation. I went with the campfire ice cream bar and my wife with the chocolate dip banana with nuts. The campfire was tasty with a ton of chocolate, graham cracker, mini marshmallows, fudge and marshmello cream. Yummy but is a bit sweet for me. The chocolate dipped banana is awesome which isn't too frozen which is what makes it easy to eat and has plenty of chocolate and nuts. Really good! They also have their own root beer which is really tasty. One of the other treats they have is a jabawokie treat which is a mix of a rice krispie treat, crushed pretzels, marshmello and chocolate. Really delicious and a very good sized treat All in all this place is great for this area of Mesa. They have great treats and really nice staff. Try this place out where you're in the area

Love this place! Great variety on the menu and they are always adding new things. If you want to go out and get a delicious treat, definitely come here! It's a favorite of ours for sure. Great service and super cute location. Also I have one of their pullovers and it's so cozy!

Love Balboa's! The bananas were perfectly frozen! Not too frozen so that you can't bite them. I also really loved the local sodas they offered. It's a great spot to stop in for a quick and safe treat to eat on the go. The churro bar was incredible. read more

Their treats are SO beyond tasty and their atmosphere is unmatched! We love going there for their frozen treats but their chocolate chip cookies they bake every Thursday are my absolute favorite "bake shop" cookie - hands down!!! We try and go back (we make the 40 minute drive) at least once a week. read more

So yummy! I got the flavor of the week red velvet cake topping with cream cheese icing drizzle on a vanilla ice cream bar. We went three times in 24 hours while we were visiting family in Arizona. It was so good! The frozen bananas were really yummy - we did potato chip/Nutella and s'mores/salted caramel. The chocolate ice cream bar with toasted coconut and salted caramel sauce stole the show, though. It blew us away!! 10/10 recommend. read more

If i was just reviewing the bananas- I would have to give it 5 stars but as a business who opened in the middle of a pandemic I was hoping that they would have been on the fore front of making sure they had enhanced measures in place. Social distancing was not being enforced nor encouraged at all. When we got there there was 3 groups of people sitting right outside the door without masks as well as another large group also sitting- not even eating not wearing masks as well. as a small location you would think that they would do more to encourage people to leave the space as there are not even tables for people to sit in. but you cant expect several young girls to try and police a bunch of mesa moms. The business itself was very clean but the employees opted to Just wear face shields instead of a mask and the shield. The shield is meant to be a secondary form of protection overall not the primary. which should be noted to the girl chewing gum on the line it basically directs any droplets into the food. I look forward to stop by again and update my review if they update their policies or simply in 2021 read more

Saw this place on Instagram and it reminded me of growing up in California when we'd go to Grandpa's Old Fashioned Ice Cream at the mall I also took my kids their as they grew up. I was so excited to see that Balboa's has the same concept so we took a drive from the far West Valley just to check it out and it did not disappoint! The ice cream bars and frozen banana were just as I remembered and they offered much more as far as toppings. They brought my childhood memories into the future. We'll definitely keep Balboa's on our list of must haves for weekend drives. Service was impeccable and super friendly which makes just about everything even better in my book! I really like this place. First off, owners and employees are super friendly! We have been on 2 occasions now and tried bot the dipped ice cream bars and the bananas. Average product and service (it's a banana after all) however deeply disappointed that there was no requirement for customers to wear masks or practice social distancing. No sign on the entrance for masks etc. Are they living in a bubble? This is wilful negligence from the management of the establishment. I won't be going back there until we're past the pandemic. The staff also don't have enough PPE on - just face shields which is NOT enough. Shocked that this is still going on in the midst of a pandemic and national crisis. read more

the bananas are amazing and deserve 5 stars. however, there was at least 30 people in the small store and only 3 people were wearing masks. it made me severely uncomfortable and makes the sanitary aspect of the business questionable. wish i could give them five stars. read more

This is place is amazing. I love the frozen banana idea. My kids love coming here after school. I get the full size banana and its HUGE. You can choose from so many toppings. Definitely recommend to friends and family for a fun experience. Love supporting small family businesses. read more

My boyfriend and I went here and let me tell you it was so delicious! I got the vanilla chocolate dipped ice cream bar with the s'mores topping, almonds, hazelnut spread and marshmallow spread on it and oh my goodness! It was so amazing! My boyfriend got the frozen banana covered in chocolate and toasted coconut and it was delicious as well! I forgot to ask for the girls name but she was so helpful with her recommendations. They also have such cute stickers for sale. Next time I visit Arizona, I will definitely make it a requirement to visit Balboa's! read more

Oh wow! This was so delicious! The chocolate that they use to dip so quality! The toppings are simple but a nice selection and they have some good combinations options if you just can't choose. If you're not in the mood for a banana or ice cream bar they also have some baked goods and the jabberwocky is phenomenal. You must go here to treat yourself! read more

Finally got to try Balboa's last night and was very delighted with my treat. Everything was clean inside, it was really crowded and I have to agree with the comment below that something should be done about that. (Like regulating the crowd or amount of people allowed inside and around the entrance, I'm glad for Balboa's that business is coming in). I'll be back! read more

A frozen banana or ice cream bar dipped in dairy free chocolate and coated with all kinds of goodies then drizzled with something I imagine heaven tasting like? You can't go wrong. My favorite toppings are the camp fire and the crunch coat, both topped with marshmallow drizzle! Oh and you can't leave without a Triple Threat or Jabberwocky to go! read more

So happy we found this place.... saw it on TikTok!! Lol. The girl at was very friendly, she explained everything and was super patient while my kiddo made his decision. The price was very good for the portion size. We got a couple 1/2 bananas and there version of a rice crispy treat, I can't remember the name. The banana were the perfect size and so good, lots of toppings to choose from. I got the s'mores, so good! You can also get an ice cream bar dipped with the topping s too. They did have a couple different baked goods to choose from. The rice crispy had everything in it chips, pretzels, chocolate chips, and Nutella. It was so good and giant. Will definitely be back to try some more from here. read more

Saved me a trip to balboa island! Bringing back the classic chocolate covered bananas but with way more options. I think I caught them at a bad time though cause they were super busy, running out of bananas, and so the one I got was not frozen at all. But it was still pretty good! read more

There haven't been a lot of sweet treats in East Mesa until now! We visited Balboa's last night and it didn't disappoint! Frozen bananas, ice cream on a stick and endless toppings! This place is so fun and so unique! There's nothing else like this in Mesa, let alone Arizona, and we love it! The options are indulgent but still feel like a healthier choice compared to other dessert places. There are so many ways to customize and make it fun and different. Amy and Peter, the owners, have put their hearts & souls into this shop, and everything is intricately curated, from the decor, the atmosphere, the treats, and the merch. Balboa's is amazing! I've had the Big Dipper, the Little Dipper, the ice cream bar, the churro bar (baked good), the choc-oat-chip cookie, and guess what guys...it's all delicious! They also have the friendliest staff and the store is extremely clean. Do yourself a favor and get a simple soda for the road. read more

If i could give Balboas a million stars i would! Everything about Balboas is perfect! The treats are so so good. I don't know how I survived Arizona summers without this before! It feels like you're being transported to CA! There is something for everyone here. Aside from the most delicious treats, the store is so cute! And their merch is so fun! Hot chocolate HEAVEN! Treat yourself to their delicious holiday take on hot chocolate. I got my ice cream bar dipped in chocolate and covered in peppermint.
