Balancing Owl is a warm and welcoming studio, students are kind and grateful plus the teachers truly enjoy being a valued asset of the BOY community. The seasonal schedule has diverse class offerings with all being taught through a gentle lens, even the more physically challenging such as Yoga Pilates and Strength & Balance. Frequent workshop offerings relate to wholistic health and mature population: Ayurveda, Hips/Neck/Shoulders, Menopause, Sound Baths and Beginners workshops (plus more!) are on rotation. I have been taking classes at Balancing Owl Yoga for several weeks now. It was recommended to me by a friend as I mentioned I was looking for online classes. I began taking online classes during COVID as my studio pivoted when they had to shut their physical doors. Upon reopening, I had become used to both online and in person classes. The studio was less than 10 minutes away and VERY convenient. However, they were facing a closing and I'd also found fewer and fewer classes for me to take. At the peak, I was at the studio 5 days a week for classes. By the end, I only had 2 classes a week. I'm an ALL IN membership person. Will pay monthly fees to have full access. So what drew me to B.O.Y. was its online offering. In looking around at local studios, I find VERY FEW have continued to offer virtual classes. Unlike BOY who live streams just about all in studio classes, other studios maybe offer a couple classes a week - despite having LOTS of in person classes. Another thing I appreciate at BOY is the slower, less physical practice. I have an injury and am unable to fully participate in the power yoga I am used to. I also am getting older and have found the need to modify what and how I do yoga. I am finding great success in the gentle, slow and restorative flow - allowing me to really focus on the mindfulness piece and how each movement and breath feels in my body. The times of the classes are pretty good. Ideally, I want a 6 PM start. Most of the BOY classes I attend are 6:30 - still within my wheelhouse that I'll be sure and show up. Which leads me to the big differentiator. BOY offers all virtual class recordings for a 24 hour period following the delivery of the link (within a couple of hours of the class concluding). I MUCH prefer to attend a live class and have found it a challenge to get motivated to watch a recording. I'm a disciplined person when it comes to all other things, but I know when I register for one I'll possibly watch the recording, that there is little chance I'll do it. The friend that referred me thinks quite differently - so she takes advantage of the recordings. This is only the 2nd studio I've tried after moving away from my former home studio. The entry month deal is great and I highly recommend you give it a try if you have any interest in attending their classes. I may or may not return for a full membership. TBD at this point. Definitely need more research before making that decision. Which reminds me, I need to leave a review for the other studio I just tried online!! read more

Wonderful Yin yoga class taught by Laurie of Balancing Owl Yoga in Dublin, Ohio. One of the best of my on-the-Road yoga experiences so far... I visit quite a few yoga studios in Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Indiana and I usually pick a new one whenever I am in a new town... but I will definitely make this a destination next time! It's a lovely little studio and I would not hesitate to take another class here. Feeling very relaxed, very chill, and at peace. Also, they are in a very quiet part of Dublin, with ample parking, and they had plenty of props available if you needed to borrow any. Laurie was also very welcoming, which is a plus. I was visiting Columbus for Presidents' Day weekend with some friends, and wanted to end the great girls weekend by trying out a class on my way home. I selected Nia with Janis because there's nothing like it where I'm from. The studio is beautiful, equipped with plenty of props. And Janis was very welcoming and enthusiastic. Her energy is amazing! Nia is a fun, light-hearted, mindful workout. Janis had a packet of information about Nia available.It explains how Nia combines martial arts, dance, and yoga into a series of movements which work the entire body. It is a holistic practice. Never had a bad experience with a studio but caught certain off-putting feeling when I scheduled a class pass time here recently. I arrived 10 minutes late for a 75 min class and was turned away. I have been to numerous studios in different cities and never have I been to one where they lock the door, most do not have doors. This was a gentle yoga class, and I can understand limiting disruption. However, in my experience, most restorative yoga classes have instructors welcome late arrivals by assisting them with set up, not turning them away. This seems like the more "yogi" and just "human" way to be. read more

I had tried yoga a few times but never with much luck. I decided to try the gentle yoga classes with Victoria. Oh my gosh, she is so caring and intuitive. I love how calming and restorative this class is. I don't feel pushed to do something I don't think I can do and I don't feel judged at all. Victoria tells me to try and then pull back a bit, don't try to push and hurt yourself. Let your body tell you what to do. I appreciate that. Just signed up for my second round of 5 classes. I found this yoga studio thanks to Yelp and I have not been let down at all. I signed up for one of the beginner series ($50 for 4 classes), and I absolutely love it. I was really nervous about starting yoga classes because I had never been and I wasn't sure what to expect, but with this beginners series, everything is explained and they get you comfortable with how things work at the studio. The teacher for this series was Laurie, and she makes you feel right at home from the first minute you walk in. The owner Jennifer is the same way. I have not had the chance to take any of the regular classes but after my series is over I am already planning out which days I'm going to go and what classes I'm going to take. This is a great yoga studio and I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a complete experience. read more

I took yoga for a couple of years at my local fitness club where classes were so crowded there was no room to completely move freely and the instructors changed often. After giving up my membership I took a break from yoga for over a year. My body was letting me know it was time to get back into it so I purchased a 5-session pass. Went to my first Gentle Yoga this morning....thought I'd start slow. I was so relieved at the serene atmosphere and the smaller class size. Kelly was great. I can't say enough great things about this studio. I went to a free community yoga class and have been a regular since. The atmosphere is very welcoming and the instructors are all amazing. They are friendly, very knowledgeable, encouraging and are able to offer adjustments for more challenging poses.
