Everyone else has written about the physical therapy, chiropractic, acupuncture, cupping, etc. offered at Balanced Flow for physical pain relief--at which, I can attest, they excel. I've been going regularly for a year to address congenital issues with my hip. So, I want to talk about a different kind of support offered by the amazing, talented healers at Balanced Flow Wellness. I lost my beloved, 17-year-old, soul cat, and in spite of his age, his passing was totally unexpected and shocking. I didn't know what to do or who to call--only that I felt like this massive ball of agony that everyone could see, I was in dire need of *something*, even if relief wasn't really possible. I sent an email, explaining what had happened, and asking to come in that day, for what, I wasn't sure. I just knew I needed help, and wasn't sure where else to turn. They fit me in for a wellness visit, no questions asked, and when I arrived, greeted me with so much love and warmth and compassion. They had an exam room waiting for me, so I would have privacy to cry, and did some acupuncture to help me relax. They told me to come back anytime, even if I just wanted to hang out and be around people. I went back again two days later, and Dr. Lee researched and found an acupuncture protocol for grief, while Dr. Hertzberg gave me soft-tissue therapy which made me feel like she was literally pouring her love into me. On Saturday, when I came for my regular appointment, Ali gave me an hour of the most beautiful shiatsu massage therapy, even though I cried the whole time. I could never have gotten through this week without the beautiful compassionate support and care I received from the team at Balanced Flow. These people are not just doctors and techs; they are all true healers in every sense. They care about each and every one of their patients, and they seek to provide not just physical relief, but emotional support and the gentlest, most compassionate love and care. read more

Someone recommended Balanced Flow to me for physical therapy and my experience there was unproductive and disappointing. I admit to being remiss in not checking out staff credentials ahead of time. My referral order was for PT, so I assumed the staff might have informed me that no one I would be working with had an advanced degree in that area. I'm sure the staff is very well qualified for personal training, but I would not recommend this place for PT. My care was mainly directed by a former nurse practitioner/firefighter/EMT. After showing me an exercise, I was off-loaded to an admin person with no credentials at all in PT. The supervisor, who spent about 5 minutes with me per session, actually trained in chiropractic care and acupuncture. After 3 sessions, I did not feel I was receiving the care I needed. I also felt very out of place and uncomfortable in addition to not making any progress. I cancelled the rest of my appointments and started with an organization where each therapist has a doctorate in physical therapy. That person worked with me one-on-one for the full session. I immediately began to make real progress and benefitted enormously from the care I received. In summary I'd say before starting anywhere, check the qualifications of staff members and make sure they align with your needs. For me the only good part of this experience was being greeted each time by Adrean. He is an extraordinary customer service person and a kind, warm, and welcoming one. He was extremely efficient and the sole reason I gave Balanced Flow a two-star rating instead of one. read more

Even with a hellish commute from NW Indiana to Bucktown, I can enthusiastically recommend Balanced Flow. I've been seeing them for about six weeks now to work on support for my deteriorating knees and I already feel stronger. BF is very holistic, collaborative and creative in their approach-unlike my previous experience with physical therapy. I love everyone there and you can tell they all love working there too. The atmosphere is very welcoming and supportive. Five stars! read more

Initially went to Balanced Flow after a car accident and having severe whiplash pain with the caveat of sciatic pain for 20+ years. Within my time at the facility I have had the opportunity to work with each of the techs. Everyone there gives such gentle critiques with amazingly positive feedback during your active therapy. Their sales pitch is not a gimmick. They all truly care about making you feel better by finding and correcting the inefficiencies that cause your pain. Their approach is amazing. I have been to several different therapy clinics and this is definitely the best. read more

You can't measure how great this place is!! I was referred to Balanced Flow Wellness due to a herniated disc in my neck. I couldn't get out of bed, walk or stand without extreme pain. All of my doctors were recommending surgery and pain pills to cope. I am 34 and very against having such a surgery at this age. I was very skeptical at first, especially when I received the treatment plan but was reassured by both Dr's that they would be able to fix my injury without surgery and pills. After a few sessions there was no improvement but was reassured kept at it. Both Dr's Hertsberg and Lee recommended Dextrose Polotherapy. Lauralea (Nurse Practitioner) took the time to explain what it was but also sent me information so I could understand better. I did two sessions and a couple of months later I was feeling great! NO surgery, NO pain pills and best of all, NO pain. I would HIGHLY recommend letting them work their magic! They are great at what they do and their bedside manner is impeccable. They take the time to explain how the injury is effecting you, the course of treatment and don't pressure you at all. They go above and beyond in your recovery. Their staff is so friendly and down to earth that they make you feel like one of the crew. read more

Where do I start? I would send anyone I care about to Nolan & Dominika. They are knowledgeable, professional, and (unlike other chiropractic care centers) they want to resolve whatever the issue may be so they DON'T have to see you again. Their more holistic approach to medicine connects the mind, body, and spirit for faster healing. If you have any issue, you want it treated, and you want to go back to your daily life routine. See Nolan, Dominika, or resident TFR expert Conor. You'll be happy you did! read more

More than chiropractic care. Everyone was pleasant and helpful. After 20 sessions, they taught me how to decrease my pain and why my problems exist. I asked a lot of questions, got a lot of advice and learned more about my body. Working one-on-one with a doctor and a therapist for one hour, each session, was helpful. I learned exercises, pain management and core strengthening. read more

If you have back pain, this is the place for you. Both Dr. Lee & Dr. Hertsberg are so wonderful! They are friendly, accommodating, listen to your issues, and really genuinely want to help you. I highly recommend visiting here! Also - I had a massage with..I believe Greg.. and it was unbelievable! Dr. Hertsberg explained my low back issues to him in advance so he knew the exact areas to work on, and where to be gentle to avoid causing pain. Love this place! read more

I honestly don't know where to start. I have had chronic low back pain/hip/sciatic issues for about ten years, of course have been to numerous doctors and the like with no real relief. Within a few weeks of coming here I was able to sleep through the night for the first time in a long time and little pieces here and there started changing. On top of the actual physical relief, mentally and emotionally they are the best support. I believe them when they tell me that they will help me get better because I know that they genuinely care. I also know that they are good at what they do so when they tell me this it's because they believe in what they are able to do. I can't recommend Balanced Flow enough. I feel that I am finally being taken care of. They are a family there that I am so happy to finally be taken care of by. Also. Dogs. So much dog love. My people. read more

I'll start with the good: my interaction with one of the therapists there, was extremely helpful. Conor was very thorough in explaining their services and what is offered there. After I received my first treatment I felt so much better. I worked with Conor and we did a Targeted Fascial Release session followed by some cupping. I learned more about their practice and how they treat patients. Seems like a really great concept. The cons: I feel their website is a little confusing in explaining what is covered by insurance and what isn't. I went in thinking certain things were covered and they were not. It was also tough as the front desk person couldn't answer my questions either on the process or what things cost. I would have liked to have a smoother first impression. read more

I graduated from 24 Sanexas treatments and 20 sessions of PT for my carpal tunnel syndrome. Every single nurse practitioner, chiropractor, and physical therapist who treated me was competent, knowledgeable, caring, willing to answer questions, very skilled, and understanding of my pain issues. I liked their team approach and found their modifications of treatment as time went on to be beneficial. I am much better after these treatments than I was when I first walked into Balanced Flow. Thank you also for your encouragement and support throughout the program. The office staff deserves a salute, too, for the fine job they did. read more

literally the best experience! kindness, intelligent, compassionate, made sure I felt safe and open. 10/10!

I was having sharp left back pain issues for months. A family member suggested I see the doctor for exercise and massage (although called something else). My pain is so much better with the help of the therapy exercises. The office is clean, loft ceilings and very helpful and friendly staff. I highly recommend anyone with muscle issues to find relief here! read more

I can't more highly recommend getting chiropractic treatment at Balanced Flow Wellness with Dr. Nolan Lee. I suffered for years with painful rotator cuff tendinitis in both shoulders, including weakness, tightness and pain afflicting both shoulders. I saw other chiropractors, orthopedic surgeons, alternative health therapists, cortisone shots and none of it fixed the problems. I was introduced to Dr. Lee at a social function and he immediately began to diagnose and work with me in the middle of a party. He took me on as his personal reclamation project and has worked on repairing my messed up muscles for years. Dr. Lee was the one to finally improve my shoulder problems. Through a mix of chiropractic treatment, functional sports medicine rehabilitative work, acupuncture and mobility work, I've never been better. Dr. Lee taught me about what the muscular issues were and how to prevent them from reoccurring. Do yourself a favor. If you are having any physical issues and are in need of therapy or are simply looking to optimize your health and performance, go see Dr. Lee at Balanced Flow Wellness. read more

This is the best thing I've done for myself. I absolutely love the feeling after being adjusted and getting some acupuncture. The whole space has great energy. They always take the time to listen and help you in office and out. read more

Balanced Flow was simply fantastic in offering alternative treatment options to help reduce swelling and inflammation in my severely sprained ankle. The treatment was holistic and included acupuncture, targeted tissue massage and daily exercises that helped with the inflammation and improved my overall range of motion. Dr. Lee is super friendly, approachable and extremely knowledgeable and his explanations were easy to understand. The clinic itself is centrally located and the space feels professional but with a warmth and welcoming feel many other places lack. Overall my experience was fantastic and I look forward to returning for preventative treatments. I highly recommend Balanced Flow! read more

Highly recommend for Physical Therapy! Their holistic approach to relieving pain was better than any other, including TFR, Cupping, and Acupuncture. They will customize your Treatment Plan and truly care that you're healed! Most bittersweet part of leaving Chicago will be no longer working with Dr. Hertsberg, Katie M., and Aya during every Wellness Visit! read more

Not only did Dr. Lee fix my back pain in a few sessions, he outlined functional ways to move and proper alignment for my body to reduce chances of a recurrence. After asking a slew of questions like a detective looking for clues to solve a mystery, he explained to me in simple, understandable terms what was going on with my body and the root cause of the problem. Then for my treatment, he incorporated a gentle and holistic approach using deep pressure massage, acupuncture, functional movement as well as a couple of adjustments. During my visits to Balanced Flow Wellness, I felt cared for, listened to and actually looked forward to my treatments! Plus the office is easily accessible, clean and cheery. I highly recommend! read more

Dr. Lee and Connor have helped me so much. I went to traditional PT last year and it was helpful for my right knee, but they didn't help me understand the root of the problem - my arches! Balanced Flow gives you a new approach to help you learn more about your body and body movements. I can't thank them enough for getting me comfortable/pain-free to enjoy running and my other physical activities again. And the pups are best welcoming you to their space! read more

Dr. Lee was incredibly helpful in identifying the source of the pain in my hand. He used some sort of metal chiropractic tool to get into the deep tissue and break it up. I would highly recommend Balanced Flow Wellness! read more

I cannot say how grateful I am to Dr Lee and Dr Malinowska. I had arthroscopic surgery about 14 years ago to mop out a badly torn meniscus. Since then, I've experienced nearly daily pain. This had an effect on my active lifestyle and led to a more sedentary one with resulting weight gain. I visited many different therapists without much improvement. The pain would be relieved temporarily, but come back within a week or two. Dr's Lee and Malinowska were the first to really examine my movement patterns to get to the root of my problems. They treated me with various exercises that retrained my muscles to correct the poor habits I developed after surgery. I have been pain free for several months now and look forward to working out again! read more

I have a physically demanding job. Being a hairstylist for 19 years has contributed to a lot of neck and shoulder pain. I've never really been able to find the relief I was looking for through massage therapy. When I was referred to Balanced Flow and read up on their TFR (targeted fascial release) therapy I knew it was what I needed. I've been seeing Conor for a few months now and my neck feels so much better. He can tell exactly where you need attention and goes to all the right spots with the right pressure. I've referred clients of mine there who have had great results are still feeling good weeks after treatment. I will continue to go occasionally for prevention as well as relief since I continue to work and need it. If you have any sort of neck or back pain trust me, this will help! The receptionist and other practitioners are also friendly and welcoming as is the atmosphere, they've definitely paid attention to creating a calm, healing environment. read more

I am an avid yoga and handstand practitioner and injured my wrist back in January. I was afraid of what a doctor would say and avoided going until it kept getting worse and worse. I finally gave in and went to Balanced Flow Wellness in April. Dr. Lee was cognizant of my desire to maintain as much of my same level of activity throughout the healing process and worked with me on ways I could modify my yoga practice while still allowing my wrist to heal. After about three weeks time of office visits and home wrist exercises assigned by Dr. Lee, my wrist feels great. During that time I took many of of Dr. Hertsberg's yoga classes and she was able to work with me on modifications tailored specifically to her classes because she was familiar with my wrist injury. I am so grateful to Dr. Lee and Dr. Hertsberg for helping me through this wrist injury and for having a holistic understanding of how to balance the healing process with my desire to maintain active. Not to mention, they are two of the nicest people you will ever meet. I highly recommend these two amazing Doctors! read more
