My brother-in-law and Igot up a little early and went down to get breakfast sandwiches for everyone after a late night birthday party for my sister and luckily when we arrived, there was only one gentleman in front of us. We often joke that the both of us are like the Pied-Piper... As soon as we walk in anywhere, the crowds seem to follow. Ordering was a snap and the two girls working behind the counter were friendly and helpful. When we got back to the house with our eight or nine sandwiches, all of them were made exactly to order and we felt we got a better than average deal for the quality of the breakfast sandwiches we ate. read more

While the storefront and inside leaves a bit to be desired, the bagels are okay and the service is quick and efficient. Compared to the bagel joints I frequent in the Mercer County area, this place is a steal: Nova Lox was $6.99. The bagels themselves are good, but not quite great: I prefer a chewier bagel: I found these a tad more bready than I like. It's location next to "Peek a View" is interesting (yes, it is what it sounds like). read more

The owner was helping the Mexican worker as he was making my sandwich. He is taking the bagels out of the oven and putting them into the baskets for sale. Three of them fall on the floor and he proceeds to put the in the baskets for sale. Gross. I feel like reporting it to the board of health. THE MAN BEHIND THE COUNTER VERBALLY ASSAULTED ME FOR ASKING FOR A TOASTED BAGEL. Is this real life??? Just stopped here for some bagels, and can honestly say I will never return. I love the Ortley location and had never had an issue with this one, until today when the man at the counter verbally assaulted me simply for being a customer. I walked in and saw all of the bagel baskets empty, so I asked if they had any left since it was later in the day, he was aggravated at my question and yelled back at me. Then when I asked for a bagel toasted, he aggressively yelled at me again, because the bagels were hot, so I didn't need it toasted.... I was ordering for someone else, so I simply said they requested it that way.... to which he continued to berate me. I tried to keep my cool and asked if I did something to upset him and he continued to scream at me for absolutely no reason. Not sure what his problem was but my family will certainly go elsewhere moving forward. read more

I'm a long fan of Bakin bagels. I have been going to the Maywood and Ortley locations since I was a kid. This location doesn't resemble the others at all. Ordered a taylorham egg and cheese bagel. After watching 5 customers come in after me, order and receive their egg sandwiches, I asked where my sandwich was. It was sitting on the counter right in front of him. Only to find out he made a Taylor ham and egg on a roll. I took the sandwich anyway due to the time I waited already. It was the worst egg sandwich I've ever had. I wouldn't recommend going to this store. Literally go to any other bagel shop in the area. read more

Great place for a quick stop on the way to work or kids sports in the morning. I usually order toasted egg bagel with butter. My favorite. The salt bagels and poppy seed are also good. I like the ratio of crusty outside to soft fresh inside. I'm not a creme cheese fan but they have a few styles available and also some "Mexican style" breakfast burritos which sound good. The grill area is right up front so you can see your food being prepared. Coffee is surprisingly good too. It's a hole in the wall place but close to home, quick, and exactly what it should be- a great neighborhood quick stop. read more
