I was able to get there off of la Cholla by turning into the Starbucks. There are a lot of offices and parking was crowded but available. I was checked in right away. The wait was under 15 minutes to be seen. Even though I was there for something specific, they checked my vision and did eye scan. Dr. Rosenlof was patient and explained the situation and options. I was very satisfied with the whole experience.

So I called this office; they took me in on an emergency appointment. My wait time was minimal. Dr. Lewis figured it out immediately. Everyone was friendly, helpful and was able to get in and out in a short amount of time. There is a large selection of glasses to choose from (I assume at different price points). I was told they have over 3,000 pairs of glasses! There are also 1-2 opticians who can help you choose the best frame for your face or a look that you are going for. Despite it being winter, they were kind to offer me water while I waited/ filled out the short form. I was given a sheet to inform me of my benefits and an assistant went over the costs of daily contacts compared to bi-weekly and monthly. Dr. Lee was professional and did a great job explaining the importance of having eyes dilated to check for retinal detachment for patients with high prescription. I appreciated her patience and time she took to answer my questions. She also was able to give me a sample of gel eye drops I was curious to try (I had not gotten around to it because college life) and informed me she would follow up in a couple weeks to see whether I'll be going with the biweekly or dailies. This is a hard no…read more Prefacing here by saying this was an appointment requested by my optometrist (in Chandler) to establish baseline health of my retinas as I get older. I've had glasses since I was 4 and have seen plenty of ophthalmologists. Had I known what to expect here, I would have pursued his referral in Phoenix. From the jump this place is not patient focused. Long waits on hold for an appointment (where at first, they'll tell you to text for an appointment and when you do, if it's your first they'll tell you that you have to call), packed waiting rooms, impersonal treatment, hours to actually see a physician. Prior to my appointment I called and asked about counteracting drops for the dilation and was told they had them. When I arrived there on my own (as my husband was stuck in Chicago) I was told by the first assistant that no, they don't have them. Why not?? She didn't know but every. single. patient. in the building gets dilated, so why wouldn't they???? The assistants do both intake and diagnostic and there are so many patients that you're treated like garbage. One assistant tried to hold my head closer to the equipment for proper imaging and didn't let go until I asked her to. I'm not a four year old and she never asked me to move closer and she then started shouting what she wanted to do next. I asked her if she was used to shouting at people - she said yes. I understand that some patients here are potentially hard of hearing but there was absolutely no kindness in her approach as well as the others who were 'taking pictures' - which is how they refer to imaging. The only real kindness was from the male assistant who sat me in the exam room prior to the doctor arriving. He was apologetic about the number of people ("yeah, three doctors in today, it's busy", he says) I thanked him for his kindness and told him he'd been the only one to offer it. My appointment time was 2:30 and at 4:00 I was still waiting to see the doctor. Had I not already had eyes dilated, I would have walked out. At 4:15 the doctor arrived, asked a few questions, reviewed the imaging and examined my eyes. Told me my eyes were very healthy and that he'd send a report to my doctor. Two minutes max and he walked out the door right after saying no need to schedule a follow up appointment. If I had needed one I'd have gone elsewhere. Retina Associates is a slow and poorly managed assembly line not about making the patient feel comfortable or actually cared for in any meaningful way.
