We were just in the market for the gelato that day and were pleased to find about 8 selections in the front cooler. After sampling the violet I chose it- slightly sweet, floral but fruitier than I imagined. It was remarkable. My friend got chocolate and we enjoyed a nice walk down to the river while eating our treats. The cafe did have a handful of tables in and outdoors in case you prefer to stay there. I definitely need a special occasion so I can go back for some of those exquisite chocolates.

He was so nice and well-informed on all of the desserts. When picking out each flavored macaron he provided me a quote to match the flavor or a fun fact about the taste. I was so impressed with him. We were a party of 7 ordering a variety of macarons, gelato, shakes, and pastries close to closing time and he did not skip a beat. He didn't rush us and was all about having happy customers. I have been to other locations for this company that do not offer the same level of service so that speaks volumes. I don't go to Jacksonville too often, but when I do I will make sure to stop over to this mall for some macarons because they are so delicious and worth every penny. I pretty much always stop to try the macarons anywhere I see them...these were pretty good ( it was a while ago I tried them and can't remember them standing out) but what did stand out was their Namesake Merengue! They were delicious! So light and melted in your mouth!! I have only tried merengue a few times and didn't love it ( think bland ) but these were very addictive! It's a small little spot with a few seats so we snagged seats by the window. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich and it was so yummy and the perfect size. The sweet treats and smoothies look great too and I'll have to try that next time. The owners are from Guatemala and very kind! They have pastries from there and all different countries. The chocolate tart--the filling was great, but the crust a bit thick, dense, and not very buttery. I bake a lot at home and can do better than this with my pastry crusts. So I feel like for the price, they should be able to do better, too. That much being said, still a solid experience and good location. However, the prices seemed high: here's the thing, a lot of ethnic bakeries and the like are around. The quality at the Istanbul Bakery at Apna Bazaar is better and the prices lower.
