My sweet tooth didn't stand a chance here. Sweet Cravings by Shar has an amazing selection of desserts, and everything looked just as good as it tasted. The shop was clean, inviting, and the staff was incredibly friendly and patient with this first-time customer. Fair warning: you'll probably leave with more treats than you planned. I'll definitely be back! read more

Wow! A friend dropped these off after my husband had some surgery. These cookies were huge and absolutely delicious. My favorite was a chocolate with pecans on top. Really excellent idea to give as a gift & came in a nice box. Highly Recommend read more

I stopped in today while waiting for a table at Grumpy's and grabbed a lemon blueberry cookie and an oatmeal cream pie. For two items, with tax, I spent a little over $16 which is pretty steep in my opinion. Imagine my disappointment when the lemon blueberry cookie tasted like neither lemons nor blueberries. It actually didn't taste like anything, and texturally didn't seem to be fully cooked. The oatmeal cream pie is better, but still not great. The cookie part is good but the cream filling is oily and lacks flavor. I really wanted to like this local bakery but ultimately this was a big disappointment, especially for the high price point. read more

The treats looked good. The staff was friendly, and it was very clean in there and cold but it did NOT taste as good as it looked, the taste was very bland and very dry DO NOT RECOMMEND!!! read more

Sweet Cravings by Shar - Great bakery - Desserts Near Me - Saint Johns, Florida

I've visited Sweet Cravings by Shar a few times now. My daughter and I are gluten free and they came up on my search for sweets we could eat. I had been craving cheesecake and their gf version is okay. I'd buy it again. I wasn't too impressed with the gf cupcake (the flavors were okay, but the texture was not great). I really liked the gf chocolate cream pie. I think that is my favorite thus far. I would definitely go back for that. My son did try the regular cupcake and thought it was good, but I can't speak to any of those items. I'm sure they are good. Good gf cakes are a bit harder to create (it's difficult to get the texture and moisture levels right). It is pretty expensive. They do run these deals where you can fill a box for $40, but my kids are both at college and my husband is trying not to eat a lot of sweets, so I don't want to fill a box, but if buying treats for the whole family, it could save you some. I think the day I got the gf chocolate cream pie and the gf cupcake, they were running a buy one, get one half off sale, so that helped. Overall, they were very nice and their flavors were good. I will probably be back. Worth a visit, fill a box and try a few things out. I like supporting a local business. read more

UNACCEPTABLE! Find a new bakery for your important event unless you'd like to be embarrassed... We ordered a very light blue cake for a baby shower and paid $140+. What we received was completely unacceptable: 1. Cake arrived cracked with visible damage 2. Wrong color (nothing like we requested) - This was not light blue for a baby shower! 3. Sloppy, uneven frosting with just a few cheap pearl candies 4. Smudges in the box and poor overall presentation 5. Spots of blue food coloring where the icing was not even mixed completely For such an important occasion, this was a huge disappointment. Avoid this bakery for your special events. read more

Stopped in here after a. gluten free breakfast at Grumpys next door. Found 2 shelves of amazing treats that would easily grace a fine Parisian Patisserie! read more

What an amazing bakery/cafe to satisfy all things sweet. They have an extensive menu ranging from macaroons, cheesecakes, cupcakes, muffins, and a plethora of other goodies. We even got lucky and came in on a weekend where they serve freshly made beignets, which is what we ordered, along with a cheesecake. They also have excellent coffee to compliment the sweet treats. The ambience is very cozy and comfortable and the staff warm and friendly. See you next time Sweet Cravings! =) read more

I decided to checkout Sweet Cravings by Shar on Valentine's Day. One may say that would probably be one of their busiest days of the year, but I opted to go anyway, because I had a sweet tooth and wanted to check this new place out. Sweet Cravings by Shar is located off of 210 in the new plaza right next to the newest Grumpy's location. I walked in and it was semi-crowded. THere was a sign outside that said soft opening, so I'm not sure if down the line they will have additional items. I walked around and looked at the multiple cases. They had everything from cupcakes, to gluten free options, to shooters like tiramisu, and pies like apple and pecan. After looking around I opted to get a tiramisu shooter (i.e. tiramisu in a cup), a small apple pie, a vanilla cupcake, and two creme brulees. I was waited on by Shar herself. She was bubbly and nice, eager to help others. She also does custom cakes, cupcakes, and desserts, and has a portfolio you can check out on the counter. I did hear that she mentioned that she only takes two custom cake orders per day, so keep that in mind if you're planning on ordering a custom cake/dessert. When I got home, I impatiently waited until after dinner to eat my dessert. I dug into my tiramisu shooter and it was delicious. It was rich, velvety, and flavorful. My only con is I wish it was larger. My husband's apple pie was delicious, and loved that it had a crumble topping. My son's cupcake was delicious (ok, I stole a bite), the icing was sweet and the cake was moist. The creme brulee I picked up for my sister and her husband and she mentioned it was delicious. Pros: -menu changes daily -Variety of chilled and non-chilled items -GF options -Friendly staff Cons: -Prices are a tad high IMO, but they are showstoppers and look and taste great Tips: They also have lattes/coffee/etc., so if you want to grab a coffee and dessert that's an option. read more

Oh. Em. Gee. This latest local dessert shop is BEYOND. Located next to Grumpy's, near the Beachwalk complex, Sweet Cravings is the answer to your dessert needs. You may know Sweet Cravings from area farmer's markets or food truck Fridays, but now, you can score your desserts from a cute brick and mortar storefront. Come in to browse the assortment of cookies, cupcakes, individual pies and single serve desserts (like creme brûlée and strawberry shortcakes). You can also get things like chocolate dipped pretzels, bark, chocolate covered strawberries, and so much more. Are there gluten free and vegan options? Yes, there are. Can you tell the difference between those and the regular treats? Nope. They are just as delicious. Sweet Cravings also offers full size cakes and pies for holidays, as well as custom cakes for birthdays and events. Everything is delicious, fresh-baked, and made with love. An on-site barista will whip up coffee and tea, too! No words. Just yummy vibes. PS - the owner, Shar, is an absolute gem. Not only is she a talented baker and incredible business person, she is the kindest and sweetest person around. You can't help but feel great after being in her presence, and it doesn't hurt that she serves up some of the area's best baked goods with her smile! read more

In my opinion, it was a bit sweet and it had a grainy texture or sugary texture. I would've loved to taste more of the cream and not so much of sugar. The establishment was very clean and the service was impeccable. I will definitely be going back to try some other options. Don't sleep on this cute dessert and coffee shop. You will not be disappointed. read more

Needed a coffee break while on the way to Savannah. We were about to stop at Dunkin' Donuts but we saw a shopping center and decided to roam through first. I would prefer to support local businesses rather than chains so glad we found this place. I ordered a coconut latte. It was delicious. They had a lot of pastries and dessert but we didn't have the space. This spot is pretty close to I95 which is great. Highly recommend for coffee. read more

Came here last night while we were in the area. Purchased a bunch of cookies and a slice of cake. We ordered (2) chocolate chip walnut cookies, a red velvet cookie, hot chocolate cookie, a frosted sugar cookie, and a slice of. Walnut Carmel cake. We clearly ordered a little too much because as of right now the only thing I have actually tried was one of the chocolate chip walnut cookies. These things are huge and may take a few days to finish ha ha . Our experience here was pleasant. If you are in the area check them out. They also serve hot beverages read more

This is a nice addition. To the St. John's area. Pastries are wonderful. My favorite so far is the pecan pie. THE BEST CRUST! Buttery and flaky, never leave any crumbs behind. Their cakes are also great, they have ready made decorated cakes ready for purchase if you need something at the last minute. I have also ordered a custom cake from them for a bridal shower. That cake was devoured- chocolate layers with fresh strawberries. It's a cute shop, very clean, and the owner/chef is a sweet as she could be! read more

Stopped into Sweet Cravings by Shar while waiting for our table at Grumpy's to be ready. I was so grateful for the wait as I'm not sure I would have stopped in otherwise. It was beignet day so of course the smells of freshly made beignets were too powerful for anyone to resist even if we were wait to get food. All of the pastries and desserts looked incredible and the coffee smelled fantastic. We ended up ordering the brown sugar cinnamon beignets, they come in orders of four and you can get two of one flavor and two of another but we got them all the same. They came out hot were delicious. I would highly recommend getting them for either a pre meal snack or just because you want something tasty. I absolutely will be back to try some more things soon! read more

Sweet Cravings by Shar is truly a hidden gem in JAX!! We ended up there kind of by accident after having brunch in a nearby restaurant. When we entered to the bakery, we were welcomed not only by so many pastries that to the eye looked so amazing and delicious, but also by Shar herself who was absolutely great greeting us and making us feeling embraced on a very inviting and cozy atmosphere. We made an immediate connection and started speaking like we knew each other for a long time. Then, we were introduced to the desserts. I definitely wanted to buy one of each, but that would have been ending with a true sugar hangover for me . So, I had to limit my choices to a Tres Leches cake, an apple pie, and Louisiana beignets, so fresh and just coming out from the oven!!! OMG...All of our choices were amazingly delicious!!! The ingredients were fresh and tasty and the presentation was absolutely beautiful. The beignets come with different flavor of sauces, so, we picked the caramel and the cinnamon sugar ones, both really good. Shar told me that all her desserts are made with natural ingredients and, based on what we had the opportunity of tasting, we totally agree on that statement. So, it is absolutely worth the whole experience!! In overall, we highly recommend Sweet Cravings by Shar when you are in the area...We are confident that for any dessert lover that is looking for quality desserts you won't be disappointed at all. Many blessings to all the staff and success in the many years to come! read more

Place is super cute, and young woman behind the counter was very pleasant. We ordered multiple sweets. They were just ok. We wanted to love it, but we won't do any more buy one, get one half off specials. It wasn't worth sacrificing the freshness. Definitely ask what was made fresh so you don't make my mistake, or plan on dry baked goods. read more

Shar's place is newly opened in a new plaza and the plazas vibe itself says drive over here and than to see so may nice shops was a win. On my way to a BBQ and thought dessert items was a great bring idea so stepped in and was immediately greeted warmly from the busy attendant. People ahead of me were making large purchases of the delicious items so I knew I was in a good place. I was impressed with all the choices but no menu or prices so I had to have her call them out to me. I choose the cute macaroons that were bright in colors of pinks and yellows and unique flavors and some buckeyes that were delicious ( per my friends) Sweet Cravings is a perfect name as this place will definitely take care of that problem with all the various offerings from huge cookies to cannolis and everything between. read more

Very pretty place, great presentation, good service. But there were two problems: #1 - Sticker Shock $10 for a small slice of coconut cake??? Seriously! I expected it to be the best I'd ever had! #2 - It wasn't. Dry sponge and flavorless. The butter cream was also way to heavy on the butter. $3 for a slice a Publix tastes better. Seriously. read more

Ordered a gluten free chocolate cupcake. The cupcake and frosting were very good, but I'm giving 4 stars due to the $7.50 price tag.

Cute place cute desserts but they taste terrible and have the density of a wet brick.

Stopped by for my daughters birthday. lots of amazing choices and great suggestions. made my daughter feel extra special!

I can only say O M G this stuff is fantastic! We spent $100 between 2 people because it's impossible to pick just one dessert. She also has lots of gluten free items. One of the best bakeries we have tasted - too bad we are from NC and it's a 7 hr drive to Shar's! Or maybe that's a good thing seeing as I might go broke and gain 100lbs if I lived closer! Excellent service and phenomenal food! read more

Shars little son is absolutely adorable... he talks to you when you come in and tells you about all of the items! And you just can't help but smile because he is the cutest! Overall the staff were fantastic and really helpful in explaining every item. We enjoyed the desserts and I definitely want to try more! I had the Nutella Cheesecake and my husband had a Maple/Caramel Cake but I am blanking on the name. But I will say that the pricing is alittle expensive.. I don't doubt her work and how much effort she puts into this products though! And with pricing going up everywhere.. I can understand the reason! read more

Found this place coming by to get some breakfast. Was visiting to see my daughter and had my mom who happened to be celebrating her 75th on this day. Both mom and I had terrible travel days the day prior with rough weather & delayed flights. So, we came in while waiting for the brunch next door and the service was partly what helped really warm me up to the place. Shar herself came out and greeted my daughter and then my mom who felt special to be greeted so warmly on her birthday. Bought some divinely decorated cupcakes to enjoy on her special day read more

We got a chocolate chip cookie and a personal pecan pie and thought both were amazing! The sweets are very dense so I would recommend sharing. I will definitely be back at some point to try all the other things that were offered. The personal pie was great but I would have rather had it in a full size slice to get more of the gooey filling. Con: Definitely on the pricier side. read more
