I've visited Sweet Cravings by Shar a few times now. My daughter and I are gluten free and they came up on my search for sweets we could eat. I had been craving cheesecake and their gf version is okay. I'd buy it again. I wasn't too impressed with the gf cupcake (the flavors were okay, but the texture was not great). I really liked the gf chocolate cream pie. I think that is my favorite thus far. I would definitely go back for that. My son did try the regular cupcake and thought it was good, but I can't speak to any of those items. I'm sure they are good. Good gf cakes are a bit harder to create (it's difficult to get the texture and moisture levels right). It is pretty expensive. They do run these deals where you can fill a box for $40, but my kids are both at college and my husband is trying not to eat a lot of sweets, so I don't want to fill a box, but if buying treats for the whole family, it could save you some. I think the day I got the gf chocolate cream pie and the gf cupcake, they were running a buy one, get one half off sale, so that helped. Overall, they were very nice and their flavors were good. I will probably be back. Worth a visit, fill a box and try a few things out. I like supporting a local business. read more

UNACCEPTABLE! Find a new bakery for your important event unless you'd like to be embarrassed... We ordered a very light blue cake for a baby shower and paid $140+. What we received was completely unacceptable: 1. Cake arrived cracked with visible damage 2. Wrong color (nothing like we requested) - This was not light blue for a baby shower! 3. Sloppy, uneven frosting with just a few cheap pearl candies 4. Smudges in the box and poor overall presentation 5. What an amazing bakery/cafe to satisfy all things sweet. They have an extensive menu ranging from macaroons, cheesecakes, cupcakes, muffins, and a plethora of other goodies. We even got lucky and came in on a weekend where they serve freshly made beignets, which is what we ordered, along with a cheesecake. They also have excellent coffee to compliment the sweet treats. I decided to checkout Sweet Cravings by Shar on Valentine's Day. One may say that would probably be one of their busiest days of the year, but I opted to go anyway, because I had a sweet tooth and wanted to check this new place out. Sweet Cravings by Shar is located off of 210 in the new plaza right next to the newest Grumpy's location. I walked in and it was semi-crowded. THere was a sign outside that said soft opening, so I'm not sure if down the line they will have additional items. I walked around and looked at the multiple cases. They had everything from cupcakes, to gluten free options, to shooters like tiramisu, and pies like apple and pecan. After looking around I opted to get a tiramisu shooter (i.e. tiramisu in a cup), a small apple pie, a vanilla cupcake, and two creme brulees. I was waited on by Shar herself. She was bubbly and nice, eager to help others. She also does custom cakes, cupcakes, and desserts, and has a portfolio you can check out on the counter. I did hear that she mentioned that she only takes two custom cake orders per day, so keep that in mind if you're planning on ordering a custom cake/dessert. When I got home, I impatiently waited until after dinner to eat my dessert. I dug into my tiramisu shooter and it was delicious. It was rich, velvety, and flavorful. My only con is I wish it was larger. My husband's apple pie was delicious, and loved that it had a crumble topping. My son's cupcake was delicious (ok, I stole a bite), the icing was sweet and the cake was moist. The creme brulee I picked up for my sister and her husband and she mentioned it was delicious. Come in to browse the assortment of cookies, cupcakes, individual pies and single serve desserts (like creme brûlée and strawberry shortcakes). You can also get things like chocolate dipped pretzels, bark, chocolate covered strawberries, and so much more. Are there gluten free and vegan options? Yes, there are. Can you tell the difference between those and the regular treats? Nope. They are just as delicious. Needed a coffee break while on the way to Savannah. We were about to stop at Dunkin' Donuts but we saw a shopping center and decided to roam through first. I would prefer to support local businesses rather than chains so glad we found this place. I ordered a coconut latte. It was delicious. We ordered (2) chocolate chip walnut cookies, a red velvet cookie, hot chocolate cookie, a frosted sugar cookie, and a slice of. Walnut Carmel cake. We clearly ordered a little too much because as of right now the only thing I have actually tried was one of the chocolate chip walnut cookies. This is a nice addition. To the St. John's area. Pastries are wonderful. My favorite so far is the pecan pie. THE BEST CRUST! Buttery and flaky, never leave any crumbs behind. Their cakes are also great, they have ready made decorated cakes ready for purchase if you need something at the last minute. I have also ordered a custom cake from them for a bridal shower. Stopped into Sweet Cravings by Shar while waiting for our table at Grumpy's to be ready. I was so grateful for the wait as I'm not sure I would have stopped in otherwise. It was beignet day so of course the smells of freshly made beignets were too powerful for anyone to resist even if we were wait to get food. All of the pastries and desserts looked incredible and the coffee smelled fantastic. We ended up ordering the brown sugar cinnamon beignets, they come in orders of four and you can get two of one flavor and two of another but we got them all the same. They came out hot were delicious. I would highly recommend getting them for either a pre meal snack or just because you want something tasty. Sweet Cravings by Shar is truly a hidden gem in JAX!! We ended up there kind of by accident after having brunch in a nearby restaurant. When we entered to the bakery, we were welcomed not only by so many pastries that to the eye looked so amazing and delicious, but also by Shar herself who was absolutely great greeting us and making us feeling embraced on a very inviting and cozy atmosphere. We made an immediate connection and started speaking like we knew each other for a long time. Then, we were introduced to the desserts. I definitely wanted to buy one of each, but that would have been ending with a true sugar hangover for me . So, I had to limit my choices to a Tres Leches cake, an apple pie, and Louisiana beignets, so fresh and just coming out from the oven!!! OMG...All of our choices were amazingly delicious!!! The ingredients were fresh and tasty and the presentation was absolutely beautiful. The beignets come with different flavor of sauces, so, we picked the caramel and the cinnamon sugar ones, both really good. Shar told me that all her desserts are made with natural ingredients and, based on what we had the opportunity of tasting, we totally agree on that statement. So, it is absolutely worth the whole experience!! On my way to a BBQ and thought dessert items was a great bring idea so stepped in and was immediately greeted warmly from the busy attendant. People ahead of me were making large purchases of the delicious items so I knew I was in a good place. I was impressed with all the choices but no menu or prices so I had to have her call them out to me. Shars little son is absolutely adorable... he talks to you when you come in and tells you about all of the items! And you just can't help but smile because he is the cutest! Overall the staff were fantastic and really helpful in explaining every item. We enjoyed the desserts and I definitely want to try more! I had the Nutella Cheesecake and my husband had a Maple/Caramel Cake but I am blanking on the name. But I will say that the pricing is alittle expensive.. Found this place coming by to get some breakfast. Was visiting to see my daughter and had my mom who happened to be celebrating her 75th on this day. Both mom and I had terrible travel days the day prior with rough weather & delayed flights.
