Chilli, mac and cheese/bacon, and sour cream

Was in town and my sister been wanting to try this place out. We got chilli, mac and cheese, and original. If Boston had a spot like this, I would definitely come once in awhile lol The chili was really good. I was a little nervous but it definitely good. The flavor of meat and beans were there. The Mac and cheese were good. The addition of the bacon bits made it even better. I would come back the next time I'm in town!

Chili Spud Combo with Corn on the Cob

After getting my Sunday chores finished, I hit up my nearby wishlist and got Baked & Loaded. I've seen advertisements on Facebook and it's a fun interior with a bar and punching machine. I showed up a tad early at 11:45am and it was empty but I see great potential on later visits, especially during a sports game! I ordered take-out. The server asked if it was my first time and gave me a breakdown of the menu -- he advised that the Chile Spud is the most popular. This was a fluffy potato that he lightly mashed together with some butter, homemade meat chili, cheddar cheese, chives, jalapeños, and bacon. I went with the combo which came with a drink and your choice of corn or soup. He buttered up that corn nicely. Great place to stop by on lazy Sundays but not so much on busy weekday afternoons. Cravings for baked potatoes depend really on the SoFlo weather. On point with cool, dreary and rainy days... not so much in the summer though. They'd be slammed and happening in Wisconsin or any northern college town!

I was pretty satisfied with the create your own potato I ordered. They were very generous with the toppings and very friendly. My only complaints are there were flies flying over the bins of food that were covered and the lack of atmosphere. That weird bull statue in the dining room makes no sense and takes up a lot of space.

Elote (this one in particular was stale)

I was on my monthly trip to Bath and Body Works when I noticed this new restaurant all about baked potatoes! Sounded like a dream come true! A few weeks later I stopped in. The restaurant itself I think still needs a lot of work. Its filled with just a bunch of insanely random items, including a large bull statue and claw machine. It was also incredibly warm. I ordered the Mac Spud combo for $15. I can tell you right off the bat...it wasn't worth it. You would think a potato filled with Mac and cheese, jalapenos, bacon, sour cream, cheese and chives would be exploding with flavor, but it was just 'alright.' Its certainly a dish I could make at home that's better and cheaper. Mac was dry and the dish lacked salt overall. We also got the Bro spud, which is just broccoli and cheese, but was the same cost as the Mac spud with half the ingredients. Again, nothing special. We got the elote with our spuds and one if them was insanely stale. You can tell it had been sitting out for quite some time. The kernels were all shriveled up (you can see this in the photo). The other one was perfect. Flavors were really great. They had no regular sized cups for our combo so we had to use small water cups and keep refilling. They also had no napkins out for use. I can't say that I will be back anytime soon, but this place is still relatively new. Maybe with a few more months under its belt it can continue to progress, take the feedback seriously and get better. Its a fantastic concept, just needs a bit more work.

I do not like deceptive practices ! We were handed a menu that offered a BOGO special. We decided to try and luckily asked for any exclusions prior to finalizing the order. This does not apply on weekends the employee offered, whom was working alone. Interesting to note that nowhere on the coupon was it noted nor anywhere on the card. No issue with policy, but false advertising can get you in serious trouble. Simply mark coupon with a warning and/or put them away on weekends altogether. We were put off enough to leave without purchase, and will never likely return. While we wish them luck, it may not be enough as only one person was eating in during lunch hour on this Saturday at 1pm. Restaurant was quiet, stark, and only one employee working this weekend afternoon. Noted several warmers, microwave, and high speed ovens in open kitchen line. Shredded pork was not covered nor was Mac/cheese toppers.

Our favorites were the catch of the day shrimp, Cajun fries, Korean barbecue meatballs and Philly cheesesteak. The garlic parm fries were decent and we didn't care for the steak pieces. 10/10 would recommend overall.

So we went at 7pm on a Wednesday. What's playing on TV was not available, was told to use QR code, so easy peasy. So the counter staff was pleasantly, we ordered: rabbit hole salad and the patty melt to go. Maybe should be eaten there, right away. Didn't stand up to a quick ride home. BOTH meals looked sad and not worth $50, as was $20 each, gave $3 tip for to go. Probably won't return! It's probably great for vegans who don't require quality or taste, just gut it out to remain vegan. Salad had no flavor really, it was " overdressed", just kale dressed in an underwhelming sauce. Tons of it where it was soggy. Chips of fake chicken I guess, that was flavorless. Partners patty melt was just so so. I'm sad! You ever wanted to really like something, so you force it. We love going to local spots to support folks but we demand excellence. I wasn't expecting Coopers HAWK, but wanted some flavor. It's like not even as good as Whole Foods, which is pricey like this but good. Patty melt was average, and not worth $20. The onions saved it, but too expensive for us. Fries were limp, not well made. Now I will say, we do go to dives, so we didn't need Sonness (by the way Sonness is beyond fab!). So, we can do " dive vegan" but we cant do expensive average. It survives because often the beach crowds are too tipsy or high to care, or average is OK due to being snowbirds. Im sure these reviews aren't fake, so will chop this up to a bad night for the cooks! Stop by if you are vegan, committed to this lifestyle, then its good enough. We are in good shape medically, have more allegiance to our wallet than a movement. My partner makes great, fresh salads, so I can stay home for below average greens. But if you are committed and need to just get out, try it. I think a vegan frozen meal, Amy's is better. The salad wasn't horrible, just not worth the price. $20 for soggy, no flavor. Nope! I need flavor, price, freshness mix. Also they could do better with the ambiance. When you walk up, it seemed sad. It was empty, but zero personality. They need some music, it was quiet, somewhat moodless! Even dives have a little music. Rabbits have music LOL! Wish them luck! They have been around a while, so maybe they had better days! Why show stuff on TV that's not offered, pretty photos but disappointing for us. Good news, they are surrounded by great things, Italian to the right, Max to the left, pizza to the left. And Foundry at the end of other side! Partner ate half burger, trashed it. I ate 1/4 salad, trash. $50 in the garbage. I gotta laugh as we sat in our couch, we walked in and after 10 min, the energy felt off to me. We read the menu first. I said to my mate, "let's go elsewhere" after staff said, don't have this or that. My mate said, lets see. I went along. Intuition is never wrong! Trust yout gut, give it a try! Maybe tonight was just an off night! Go try it! Maybe it will be better for you! Im sure those reviews are real but maybe that real cook was off, amd we ended up with the no talent crew!

We had a nice chat about her mom's army service (over 35 years!), too. Her husband is the chef -- from Florida -- and she's originally from Connecticut -- my home state. It came with a sweet corn muffin -- which I had as my "dessert". We shared the fried okra. They were perfectly crispy bits of smaller sized okra -- my favorite -- with a remoulade style dipping sauce. My husband got their meatloaf with sides of collards and mashed potatoes. There were two large slices of smoked meatloaf. The collards had the right texture and flavor with bits of smoked meats bathing in a wonderful pot liquor. He actually drank the "juices" in the dish when done with the greens! I tasted the collards and really liked them also. I'll get these next time, too. If you like southern cooking with a Cajun twist, run here. The food is worth a drive. You will not be disappointed.

First off, parking was difficult because this establishment is near other highly frequented businesses. Once inside, we were greeted by a friendly hostess who immediately sat us at a table for two. The interior is small and intimate, which also meant very loud once it got crowded. After being seated, our water cups were quickly filled, and someone inquired if we wanted drinks. After we were approached twice, still unsure of what we wanted, we were then neglected for at least ten minutes. Our appetizers arrived and still no one had come to get our entree order. The menu is fairly small, and the items are quite pricey. You know what else was small? The drinks! For $18 I want to hold a drink that fills my hand. Was it good, yeah; but it wasn't life changing. We ordered some scrumptious rosemary focaccia and lemon garlic olives to start; my husband chose the Korean Fried Chicken and I opted for the pappardelle bolognese for our main course. Both dishes were tasty, but I don't think either one was reasonably priced at $34. We opted to skip dessert after watching everyone around us receive their meals before us; and only at this time did our waiter seem to become more attentive. Overall, food is great, but overpriced; service was fair - but for over $100 for two entrees, appetizer and one drink, we won't be back.

The lovely hostess guided us to a booth by a window. We were greeted by our equally lovely server Jazmin (sp?). Btw, she rocks! Upon perusing the lunch menu we jumped at the deviled eggs appetizer. These beauties were two beet stained eggs cut in half topped with a spicy yolk filling and garnished with scallions, chicken skin crunch and trout roe. OH MY! My dear friend and dining companion was leaning towards a salad but we put on our thinking caps and decided that the fried chicken entree, which was accompanied by two sides and a biscuit was the best bang for our taste buds. And indeed it was. She ordered two pieces with greens and mac + cheese while I chose three pieces (thinking ahead to lunch tomorrow) plus the mac chz plus sweet potato soufflé (that was Thanksgiving babe!). The chicken was fresh out of the fryer and we had nothing but praise for the sides. To top it off...Nanner Puddin'! Just like mom made but no Jello pudding here. Amazing. Since it was a weekday, we got to meet the chef and give kudos. (He's a happy dude) I wouldn't care to come here on the weekend when it's packed but I can see why folks do. The place is enormous with a huge outside venue and a sprawling banyan tree. Plus the Sunday brunch menu is tempting. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, plus a cute outdoor bar area with stools where you can eat and hang out, which gave the place a really nice vibe. The music was a great mix of R&B and oldies too. Now let's talk service... for me, service is everything, and unfortunately that's what made this experience disappointing. Our waitress, Haley, was pretty inattentive throughout the meal. We asked for extra Caesar dressing and never got it, and it was honestly hard to get a hold of her most of the time. Because of that alone, I'd probably think twice before coming back. As for the food -- it was hit or miss. We started with the wings as an appetizer. They were flavorful, but nothing memorable. I'd probably skip them next time and try something else. I ordered the crispy Cobb salad because it sounded amazing on the menu, but it was a letdown. It was mostly lettuce with barely any chicken, and I had to mix the whole salad myself. At a restaurant, I kind of expect a Cobb salad to come already tossed together. Also... no blue cheese available? Come on now lol. My boyfriend got the fried chicken with sweet potato fries and mac & cheese. I will say, everything came out HOT, so you can tell the food is made fresh. The mac & cheese didn't look impressive at first, but it tasted SO good. The sweet potato fries were delicious too. My sister ordered the lobster pasta, and honestly the portion size shocked me in the best way. They were generous with the lobster, which almost never happens, and she loved it. My daughter got the crispy chicken sandwich and said it was the best sandwich she's ever had, so that was definitely a win. Overall, the food itself wasn't bad at all -- my salad was just a flop. If the service had been better, this review probably would've been very different. Not sure if I'd come back, but maybe on a different day with a different server.
